Dachshund Coffee

With out trying everything on the menu I have to say right now… This is my favorite place for breakfast.
Something as simple as poached eggs & bacon even tastes like art to my tastebuds.
The place has a good turn over of customers being serviced by friendly staff, whom 3 are the owners.
It’s an upbeat atmosphere, trendy with the sounds of music and people chatting happily.
The coffee was rich and full tasting. And I had the decaf. Lol. The bakery items sourced from Burkes bakery I think. No wonder I like them.
Take some time to come in. It’s worth it.

As a dachshund owner, of course I’d heard of Dachshund Coffee from the Facebook group I’m a member of — they’d been raving about it since it first opened. So, I finally ventured over to Hunters Hill while checking out the sculpture exhibit. The lunches were excellent, in particular the lamb dish I had — perfect for a winters day. However, while the outdoor section «inside» the arcade was out of the wintery wind and still allowed dogs (of course, we had to bring along out dachshund), it’s not the most interesting place to sit, especially with the empty shops further along. Inside looked better, but it’s quite small, and as mentioned we had a dog with us. I would have preferred it in a different location.

Situated between Via Napoli and Hunters Hill Hotel this trendy little café is a winner.
Arrived around 1pm on a Saturday and it wasn’t too busy. They have tables out the front near of the shop and round the side in the arcade as well as inside. There is a large communal table or you can seat along the wall.
Staff are friendly and efficient, as soon as we sat down we got water and the menus.
I ordered the Dukka chicken $ 22.50 (Dukka encrusted chicken with quinoa, kale, sweet potato, cherry tomatoes and cabbage) and my niece ordered the junior jaffles with ham & cheese $ 6.50 the other option was the Nutella and banana but because she was also getting an Oreo shake i think the Ham would of been better suited.
The chicken was amazing! It is quite a filling dish and it took me a while to finish it because i wanted to eat it all! The Oreo shake was also tasty but full on. I would suggest if you want to get a shake to get it with a small portion of food because it is quite a generous serving.
Alas there were no dogs to pat, Will just have to come back again when there are some cute dogs out the front!

New café in Hunters Hill with character! Stellar team that opened this café so I had big expectations for their coffee and food. Hit the mark with the coffee and the muesli, yoghurt and fruit combo was quite lovely.
I went there on a particularly warm morning which made the experience a little less desirable but on a not so blazing hot summer day this place is a great spot for families (incl the pooch).
There was a line for tables so I got take out — it’s a popular spot so keep that in mind when you plan on heading their way!

Alrighty, new kid on the block in Hunters Hill. Right next to the pub and by the bus stop, Daschund Coffee is pretty funky.
Coffee is a specialty boutique bean and a brew is on all day. Drip filter coffee is quite popular here and easy to see why — bears little resemblance to the evil stuff we are used to. Normal coffees are excellent, my leg was a tapping by the time we left after tasting the brew a couple of times and then a long black — wahay!
Menu is short but something for everyone– we had lunch, which was dukkah chicken in a quinoa salad with all manner of goodies in for me, and a top dog burger (lentils and sweet potato) for her. My salad was outstanding — warm tasty crunchy and filling. The burger got a thumbs up too! I followed this with a fresh made mini chocolate fondant cake and cream — way to go! Great selection of house-​made muffins cakes and slices. Breakfast menu looks good — that will have to be next time.
Sure to become a local favourite — nice young blokes that run the place are chatty and helpful, and clearly experiences caffeine dealers!
