This venue is huge, has a great ambience and lots of fun! Think bright neon lights, lots of tables, pinball machines, full bar plus outdoor seating. I came here just after the Sunday lunch rush with 5 others and I was delighted to see an extensive modern Japanese menu as well as a full bar with Japanese beers. I ordered the Sushi Ebi Ten($ 13.50) which was made of Prawn Tempura, cucumber, avo and mayo — about 6 pieces on the plate with lots of wasabi and pickled ginger on the side. YUM! I also had the raw Sashimi Tacos($ 17.00) which were meant to have salmon and tuna but there was no sign of tuna here today(sadly the staff didn’t bother to tell me this). These tacos were hard shelled and packed to the brim — quite difficult to eat really but they came with a great tomato salsa so I demolished them all(not) in style. These 2 dishes managed to fill me up but I did sneak a taste of their Sticky Goma Lamb Ribs and I can assure you this was some fairdinkum lamb! It was falling off the bone and was so smokey and sticky ahhhhh!!! Daniel San does not offer table service and ordering at the bar was quite a slow process as there seemed to be only 2 people taking orders on a busy Sunday arvo but otherwise this place is fun and great for groups but I suggest coming here when your bank account is full; it will set you back a bit compared to your usual Japanese restaurant.

Good atmosphere, great drinks, good variety of food. I think it’s a bit pricey for what it is, however the flavours are great and everything is so interesting that you probably wouldn’t care. I would suggest they work on their order system as it isn’t the the simplest as everyone just lines up for the bar, but other than that no negative comments. Definitely one to try if you’re in Manly!

Mmmmmmm I don’t really know where to start with this one. I have only had a bad excuse for a milkshake here but the lady did advise that they had only kids milkshakes and they weren’t really all that good as it’s more of a bar. So honestly I can’t give this place a bad rating because the staff are honest, fast and kind.

I won the dumpling king challenge! Pretty decent cost, but maybe only if you eat as many dumplings as challengers did($ 25 all you can eat) on Wednesday nights. Dumplings were fairly good quality, standard fare style dumplings, although the fried pork ones were interesting. Nice atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff/service.

After having eaten lunch we walked past Daniel San. I have been wanting to come here for ages so we decided to pop in for a cocktail. I opted for the espresso martini(not on the menu) and it was awesome, really well made. I didn’t eat as we had just had lunch but the food coming out of the kitchen looked great. The chicken katsu curry seemed to be really popular. Will be returning to try what they have to offer.

Very cool atmosphere, sitting outside is quite relaxing. Dishes are to be appreciated, one unique order might not satisfy if your are very hungry. But I prefer that way, a light food with the exact seasoning. I ordered a salmon teriyaki and recommend it. The Australian tap beer really caught me, tasty, delicious and refreshing. Would definitely stop by a second time.

Meals were late service was rubbish. Staff had no idea on what was going on. Very very poor. Please read this before you attempt to eat at this –5 star restaurant. Get better service at McDonald’s.

Fun atmosphere, good food. Very Manly. I had the pork belly sticks and the green salad which was perfect and really good. Great place to sit outside with friends and share plates, good cocktail menu. Pretty relaxed early in the evening but I can imagine it gets a bit more intense later at night as evidenced by the two bouncers lurking outside at 7pm! Would definitely go back.

They’ve definitely spent a few bob doing this place up. Manly has defintely become a bit cooler since I last was in Sydney. Less huge pub/hotel scene with pissed idiots everywhere and more good food in funky settings. It’s a big venue, we came fairly early on a weekday evening and it was quiet but the food and service was decent. I echo the sentiments that some dishes are expensive, however I thought some were underpriced. The dumplings were solid and the pork buns pretty tasty. I’d probably give 3.5 stars but it’s worth more just for the effort they’ve made overall. Great beer selection, good wine list and a pinball/gaming area. Enjoyed it. Would be interesting to see what it’s like on a Friday night.

The food was yummy but I thought it was overpriced. $ 8 for 3 skewers with 3 pieces of broccoli on each Sashimi was nice, squid was delish but the chilli edamame was just normal edamame with cheap minced chili through it. The service we received was quick and the food came out at good intervals but also we dined early and there were not a lot of tables filled. Would visit again but will make sure we have a bigger budget(or smaller appetite)

Daniel San is the newest addition to Manly bar scene, and it’s here to stay. Everything from the brightly lit décor, to the loud music, and the delicious food will remind you of Tokyo bylanes. The place is fun and quirky, with plastic fish floating in bags, fake chicken hanging from the ceiling, and heavy metal and rock influences everywhere. They have a good selection of beers, sake, and wine. The food is really top-notch and priced competitively for a place like this. Do try the chicken karaage and the steamed pork buns as they are super delicious. The sashimi platter is fresh and has one of the best tuna cuts I have had lately. Their portions are all made to share. Fun place with a relaxed vibe.
