I have a new lunch addiction! The mushroom sandwiches are one of the best sandwiches in town and also at a decent price. If you’re not up for a sandwich the 3 salads for $ 12 is also equally as tasty and delicious.

Ah the humble salad/sandwich lunch. One of those things that you can get pretty much anywhere, but few offer anything more exciting than sustenance to get you through the middle of the day. Chuckle Deli’s options are a welcome change from the standard sandwich bar fare. This cute deli offers a changing list of salads($ 2 less if you take away instead of eat in) and some mighty big sandwiches. If you’re a sandwich fiend — apparently the Reuben is the way to go. Me on the other hand, love a decent salad. The Kale & Quinoa salad was delicious and fresh. I added a side of smoked chicken for a bit of extra protein — very satisfying and delicious lunch option. At 1pm on a Friday afternoon it was a lot quieter than I expected. Located at the end of Hub Arcade, this gem appears to still be hidden… for now. This is one I would be keen to make a regular CBD haunt and will no doubt gain a following.

Seeking out Melbourne finest Reuben is never easy, so when my friend told he may have found the«holy grail» I had to check it out. Chuckle deli is a cooky vibrant deli at the back of a small lane way arcade in another lane way. If you didn’t know what you were lookkng for you would probably never find it. This seems to be a prerequisite for Melbourne’s eatery elite. Staff match the mystery of this place and the menu rotates daily based on availability. Lucky for me the Reuben was on the menu and worth every penny($ 14.00 to be exact). Perfect amount of well cooked and sliced corn beef on rye with swiss and russian dressing. They also use sliced sweet pickles which are a little different and admit they did little for me. All in all very satisfying and will bring me back there again in the near future.

Probably the best Reuben sandwich I’ve ever had! A lot of places are making these sandwiches at the moment, but many can’t seem to perfect the right amount of each ingredient, Chuckle Deli have mastered the art though. Their salads were also good, I recommend splitting a sandwich and a salad with a friend. The venue is small and has limited seating, located inside Hub Arcade. The fit-out has an old school New York Deli vibe, with a red neon sign. Eat in or take-way, either way get the Reuben!

First time here wanting to sample laneway hideouts of melbourne, and rushing back to work from a luncheon shopping, I picked up a salad. A standard(very filling I’d find later) box is 10 $ for takeaway. I normally dont review in just one try but if i have to, now is the time while the juices frm the salad are still keeping me on a high! Impressive recipe with interesting ingredients that made it up. Cinnamon coated cauliflower, caremelised onions, grapes and almonds were in one. The other had kale, quinoa, green apple, cherry tomatoes, dates(yes!) And lemon. Tasted amazing. But given that, its far less a salad as it probably had quite a lot of sugar content, albeit from natural sources. Apart from the chuckle the sale boys had behind my back as I chose against buying the organic cacao caramel chocolate despite his recommendation, the short few mintues there and the salad after taste has made me want to go back for an eat-in, maybe try their seemingly popular sandwiches and why not with an added bonus of alcohol availability!(Also sneak in some of those good looking sides screaming ‘take me home’) **chuckles thinking how vain she is to think she ate a healthy salad that was sweet and tasty**

I’m pretty much dinging this place, although I’ve only been the once. Part tiny bottle shop, café, and salads and sandwich stop, you can also order a vino by the glass here. So far, I’m really liking what they’ve done with the chuckle empire, one that is slowly building at that. It’s fun to alternate between venues, although this looks more like a cheeky fun future game. Staff were pretty rad, and they have a great little selection of boutique spirits if you so desire to take home. Recommended as you probably won’t find them anywhere else. Small but fun little spot.

These guys have gigantic rueben sandwiches, smoked chicken resplendent with sweet glaze, booze, big calorie-dripping slices of pie and other decadent treats. And then there’s the salads, the kale chips, organic coconut oil, activated cereals and other ‘super foods’ that stare at you from the shelves just as you’re stuffing that slice of pie in your gob… «What’s that noise?» you’ll think. «It’s almost like a laugh… a chuckle even» and you’ll look at the kale chips and realise that those smug little buggers are watching you and laughing as you wash down your mouthful of pie with a swig of wine. They know you’ll pick them up, put them in your handbag under the assumption that one bag of deep fried super vegetable will undo the crimes you’ve just committed against nutrition.
