This is a great meeting point before a night out in the city. Lots of tables inside and out, lots of beers on tap and a 5−7pm happy hour every week night with $ 4 schooners of any local beer(including James Squire Porter — perfect for a winter evening!). I can’t comment on the food, and ambience isn’t really the selling point. But it ticks all the boxes when it comes to a few quick drinks and convenience!

Well, where to start! The Palace is undergoing some pretty significant changes including an all new front bar to update the ageing interior. I have been coming here for a few years now and have only seen improvement after improvement. My opinion isn’t the most fair as I am only ever at The Palace for lunch or a evening drink but I would highly recommend to anyone after a typical Aussie pub meal at a good price.

In my opinion, The Palace is the perfect pub to call your ‘local’. The charming heritage building has been keeping patrons happy for years. It’s the ultimate spot to play two-up on Anzac Day, or relax on a Sunday afternoon. On a busy night, the crowd can get rowdy, but then again, what crowd doesn’t? In general, The Palace offers a friendly, welcoming atmosphere– the perfect place for groups or families. The spacious, comfortable interior is matched by an impressive outdoor deck and beer garden. Deciding where to sit can sometimes be harder than deciding what to eat. All the dishes are well priced for their size. Meal portions are huge, just how they should be at a pub. What I like about The Palace’s menu is that the food isn’t trying to be anything it’s not. A lot of pubs now have fancy, expensive menu’s serving all sorts of overpriced dishes, offering everything but what you want– a plain old chicken schnitzel and chips. The Palace’s menu, and chef have perfected the art of old-fashioned simplicity, and for that, I am forever grateful.
