Please save your tastebuds and dine elsewhere. This was the worst pasta I’ve ever had, blandness personified. I ordered the prawn linguine and it came out as just pasta with a few limp prawns. I could taste neither the chili nor lemon advertised as being in the dish. My girlfriend had the orecchiette which was similarly inspiring.

Food was great, service not so much. We walked n and asked the waiter what time the would close, he told us about 1 hour and a half. we sat down, ordered our food and drinks,(about $ 100) worth and waited for our food. it was at this point the waiter turned up the lights, turned down the music and begun sweeping around us, 1 hour before the alleged close time. completely killed the atmosphere and we paid up and left asap.

Food was decidedly average but it’s the service that was really bad. My wife and I waited about 15 mins for the staff to take our order, it was 9:30 at night, the place was far from packed. We ordered a pizza and a salad. Neither of which had much flavor. The wines were barely drinkable. We had to ask for water three times and our meal was on the table before plates and cutlery were brought to the table. The pizza was under cooked and the salad was limp. All this for $ 25 a head. King street has great places to eat. This is not one of them. Go somewhere else.

I’ve been here several times to try their food, mostly their specials. It’s not that they’re particularly pricey, it’s just that they’re slightly more expensive than the rest of their Newtown neighbors, which are mostly cheap Asian joints for students on a budget. The prices are reasonable, but their specials are really good deals! So for my last visit here, a friend and I went for their burger specials. It was $ 8 for their burgers. Funnily enough I don’t remember the burger I got(it was either a beef or a chicken) but he got the veggie burger. Both burgers were quite big, and tasty, and I remember thinking with surprise that the veggie burger was much better than I expected.(I’ve tried veggie patties before and they were so meh.) The only mistake that afternoon was ordering fries, he hadn’t realized that they were an additional $ 4 each and it was a paltry serving of fries. So watchout for add-ons with their otherwise great value specials. I’ve also had their pizza in the past, which was pretty good from what I recall. Service is good.

We came here on a sunny Sunday afternoon and took advantage of the lunch special burgers: veggie and chicken. The veggie burger was delicious — the mashed chickpea and lentils crust was perfectly crisp and had just the right amount of salt. It was a nice light, non-greasy option on a toasted bun with aioli and beetroot. The chicken burger was a bit more sumptuous and a little greasy(though still quite delicious). Both were a good value for the $ 8 price, but we’re not so sure about the $ 12 price point for a very small portion of salad or fries. We’ll definitely be back.

Pizza here is actually pretty good but I think the desserts are what really make this place delicious. They tack on a GST tax though to your bill? Since we’ve moved here we haven’t seen anything like GST tax put on anything so that was strange. Other than that the food was pretty good and they offer a gluten free option too. Everyone I went with seemed to enjoy their meal. Try their tiramisu it’s moisture and flavourful!

After successfully shopping for wool we ran in here because it started raining and we were cold and needed some warming up. Which was delivered in the form of wonderfully yummy coffee for me and a long island iced tea for my girlfriend. I also ate some of the bruschetta pizza which was scrumptious. And enough to share. Also a great way to hide from the wet season — the staff are smiley and on hand when you need them and off hand when you don’t. Bear in mind that they don’t do split bills over the weekends!

I’ve never had a bad meal at Twelve. Very high standard of food and nice ambience. The main meals range between $ 15 – 30. Just had one of the best pork belly’s of my life!($ 30) They also have yummy cakes on display and usually a dessert special(way to my heart). You can feel rest assured that you’ll have a great eating experience in this Newtown gem. Tips — Delicious gluten free pizzas(according to my coeliac friends) Great for big groups! And they’re licensed too!

Had dinner here last night and was actually impressed. I’d give the place 3.5 stars if I could. Went here for a friends birthday and we ordered the lamb rump(my dish — so good!), prawn linguine(birthday boy not overly impressed), chicken breast(nice, but small portion) and pork belly(fabulous all round!). Didn’t stay for dessert, but since I had only experienced the breakfast here before I wasn’t really looking forward to it — but glad we chose it amongst the myriad of choices in Newtown! Service was pretty decent too — attentive, but not overly in your face. Will be back!

So I have this odd habit when I’m hungry and undecided as to what I want to eat. I’ll wander down the street and window shop for my food. Checking out the people and seeing if they’re enjoying themselves, perve on their meals and read the menus in the window. Creepy, I know. Shut up. We saw pizza on the menu of this place and suddenly knew that’s what we wanted, so in we went… I ordered a piece of Pork Belly with Sweet Potato, Caramalised Pear and Greens. Incredible. Very delicious. The pork almost fell apart, the potato was lovely and the caramalised pear, although odd, worked well with the pork. Unfortunately the pork crackling was a letdown. Tasted burnt and was far too hard to bite through. My entrée was these deep-fried and crumbed spinach and ricotta balls. Which sounded nice on the menu, but weren’t at all tasty. And they were huge and full of rice. And being polite, I felt obliged to eat at least one. Too much. I ordered my usual Caramel Thickshake and it was DELICIOUS. A++ will buy again. The service was lovely and the restaurant was clean and well presented. The price was a little bit expensive though. Overall: A lovely dinner with a couple letdowns. Great service but a little costly. I recommend this place and they have some interesting looking specials if your budget is a little tighter. Bonus: My friend had beef ribs. AMAZING.

I haven’t been to Twelve for a good while and I was really disappointed to see the menu had changed! The menu was not nearly as diverse as it used to be — which consists of a few over-priced pasta dishes, a few over-priced chicken and steak meals and some pretty ordinary overpriced pizza. However, they did have a new share plate menu which looked pretty decent — I didn’t try any of the dishes. I’m not sure what the restaurant wants to be… it’s caught between a gourmet pizzeria and a tapas restaurant.

Standard Aussi modern grub, dressed up nicely on an oversized plate, in a large decent looking room, with shabby acoustics. I’m always happy to eat here if my peeps chose to, but it wouldn’t be my choice.

I don’t think I could give you twelve reasons to eat here, but that doesn’t mean it’s not a pleasant, casual place to go for a meal. I had spent the day in Newtown, wandering around the streets when I decided to pop into Twelve for a bite to eat. The first thing I noticed was that it wasn’t Thai, so that made me even more excited. The staff is really nice and accommodating. In fact, they were pleasingly all-smiles. The best way to describe the menu at Twelve is that it’s filled with Modern Australian comfort food. The only complaint that I have with this concept is that the prices were a bit much for ‘comfort’. Lunch was around $ 25-$ 30 for a main dish. The food itself was was okay, not outstanding. Another thing about Twelve is that the service is reaaallllyyyyy slow. I’m not sure if they’re understaffed(the restaurant wasn’t overly crowded when I was there) or if they just need to reorganize their management. It was about an hour before I had my food at the table. Overall, it is a nice atmosphere, but not special enough to get me to return.

Good for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The tables are always packed at twelve and that is a sign of a good restaurant. Nice atmosphere and if you like a big open window then this restaurant can offer you that. The food is Australiana with all the well loved meals — steaks, pasta, pizza and salads. It is casual but upbeat, so you won’t fall asleep at the table. It is good for small groups and couples. It could make for a relaxed first date, without too much pressure.
