So so so many choices on the menu! Finally settled for a remotely normal burger and although it was good, it wasn’t great. Very filling though! And desert was fab, would go back again just to give something else a go. The blonde lady bringing the food out, so lovely and friendly and made the experience just that bit better with her tip on how to not end up wearing the sauce by leaving the wrapper on, bc it gets messy!!!

An american themed dinner that has quiet a few tables you can book for parties or just walk in and wait for a table. They serve alot of burgers, chicken wings, fries and ribs. Well pretty much alot of american type foods on their menu. They do burger challenges where people have to eat a massive burger along with fries in a certain amount of time to win something. It’s all in great fun. They also sell american candy and drinks at the front for those who have neither tried american anything. Staff are friendly and this place has a great fun atmosphere

I’ve had some great meals here, but also a few disappointments. It is really hit and miss. But when it’s good, it’s real good. Burgers and shakes are staples, but in my opinion Misty’s really shines with their fries. Wet Fries, chilli cheese frees, taco fries, all of the fries! They’re perfect for a hang over or just on one of those days when you feel like being bad and that’s ok. In the area, it’s a good option when you’re not after pretentious fancy meals. Just the basics!

Absolutely terrible place. I have been here twice in a period of one week. First time was relatively good. The staff were negligent and quite rude, but the food came quickly and was delicious(loved the deep fried pickles). Second time: HORRIBLE. At first they didn’t have the potato mashies we ordered. So we decided to go with the deep fried pickles instead. They didn’t have any of those either. Okay, whatever. Half the starters menu was apparently just a joke. Then we waited ANHOURAND A HALFFOROURENTREESTOARRIVE. Can you believe that? We were ready to walk out. I made it quite obvious that I was extremely dissatisfied with the lack of menu items available and the fact that we had to wait so long just to make a hot dog and a plate of chips. A 10% discount was offered in compensation. An offensive gesture. They also have a 5% surcharge for using an American Express card. That’s about as far from genuine America as you can get. Won’t be returning, and neither should you.

Great place to experience that American diner atmosphere. Burgers are only average, but I love their platters. While you’re here, you HAVETO try their selection of thickshakes!

$ 40 buffet was terrible. Was really looking forward to it but stale bread, long lines and often limited choices topped off by frozen corn dogs just really made the cost seem excessive. I will more than likely go back and try the standard menu but hope it’s better than their special buffet.

Mistys diner is everything I imagined an American diner would be. From the classic juke boxes at the tables, to the little flags coming out of the burgers. It was like walking into a dream for me. I was warned before we go there that it was a bit pricey, but looking at the area we were in and the size of the meals I wasn’t surprised. I found the prices similar to TGI Fridays located just down the road. The Burgers and Hot Dogs don’t come with sides and although we ordered them most of out group didn’t eat them. We went on a Saturday night and service was a bit slow, but with a packed house it was kind of expected. Misty herself is a creature from heaven. She had a watchful eye over everything and made sure everyone was happy with their meals. TLDR: A bit overpriced but well worth it for the awesome food and experience.

Atmosphere us fun and Misty herself came around and spoke to customers. But they messed our order up so out orders came out at different times. The hit dog and burgers were pretty good but did not come with sides and fit the price, that us poor form. the desserts were average. Texas brownie was thin and not moist and fudgy at all. Their thick shake was great-best thing all night. My nephews had the chilli fries and they were tasty. Really expensive for what it is.

I suppose being a Yank that I’m a bit biased when it comes to good ol’ ‘Murican diner food, so Misty’s might rank better with the Aussie’s, but the food here is definitely good. Pricey as a muthaeffer, but good. I dropped in for a Friday lunch last week. I ordered the Buffalo wings and the beef sliders. The wings were quite good, but not necessarily my style. Wings are a very subjective thing in the States, so how you like them prepared is really just a matter of personal preference. I prefer mine fried hard, and drowning in sauce. Here they seem to be lightly breaded and baked, and are served with sauce on the side. They were definitely tasty. The sliders however left much to be desired. My first thought when they hit the table was«What are these, sliders… for ANTS!?». They were so small, I really couldn’t advise if they were good or bad. This is a dish that I would advise to avoid. I’ll definitely give this place another chance, as it deserves it, and let’s face it… I’m going to be jonesin’ for a some greasy American food at some point!

For what it is this place is fantastic. If you want some greasy, oversized american style food then mistys is the place to go. I think it is slightly overpriced but then again most americam style joints are is Australia. The cheese poppers are sex in your mouth & the dessert selection is out of this world. On my most recent visit I had the red velvet cake with vanilla ice cream & hot fudge sauce, doesn’t get much better in my opinion. I find the staff a little rude & their jokes are slightly pointed rather than funny but that could just be my take on it. Expect to spend around $ 200 for a group of 4.

Very nice space, decidedly average food. Sadly nothing to write home about, and I will not be returning. The milkshake wasn’t particularly tasty, the bun on my burger was really dry, hamburger was well and truly cooked(read:dry) and pretty uninspired. A bit disappointing. Only upsides were the jukeboxes and the American flags stuck in the burgers, that made me a little nostalgic for the good old USA.

I love this place for its intentions, not its delivery. Being an expat can be tough, and I nearly cried the first time friends brought me to Misty’s to help me handle a wave of homesickness. The same way you revisit childhood favorites, Misty’s nails that USA nostalgia for me. Big booths, root beer floats, curly fries, American flag toothpicks in the sandwiches… This is the embodiment of America’s heartland. The owner is from Arizona and likes to add her own twist to diner favorites. While I can totally appreciate the Southwestern flair, it wakes me from my happy slumber as many of the menu items don’t ring true to home for me. That’s not at all to say there’s anything wrong with the food, but dishes here generally fall short of the American flavors I’m seeking and aren’t tasty enough to stand on their own. Also, it’s not uncommon to walk out of Misty’s with a $ 70 tab for two people. For greasy diner food, it really is outrageous. Will I stop coming to Misty’s? Never. But do I actually think the food is good enough to warrant the price? Not really.

I have to say, this place is going downhill. Four of us went here for dinner on Saturday night expecting some greasy deliciousness. What was ordered: Mozza sticks to share: these were the best part of the meal. Big, oozing cheese bites with blue cheese dressing dip. 1) bacon ranch buger with wet fries and Reece’s milkshake — burger was ok, bun was huge and stale. wet fries were skinny fries soaked in gravy with bits of beef in the gravy which were not very good. Reece’s milkshake was heaven! 2) beef dip — this beef dip comes already drenched in gravy so you don’t actually get to dip(which is most of the fun). It was a big serve but my hubby didn’t really think it was all that great, bit of a soggy sandwich. 3) philly cheesesteak with taco fries — our friend loved it, said there wasn’t that much steak but there were nice big mushrooms and lots of cheese. my hubby got jealous and had a few bites of his sandwich. taco fries were piled high but nothing to write home about. 4) club sandwhich with chilli fries –our friend said the sandwich was ok, but it didn’t look all that nice. you could find a better one at any melbourne café or deli. she hated the chilli fries and didn’t eat them. we thought that the chilli fries would be like good old fashion chilli that your mum makes with beans etc. it was actually fries with some kind of meat piled ontop(not spicy, just thick). The fries are skinny and small, so you basically just have to spoon up the sloppy fries to eat them. not good! The actual diner is fun, very bright and true to it’s theme but don’t go for a quiet dinner, it’s very loud and there’s often birthday singing involving a microphone. Worst part of it is, we forgot our entertainment book coupon and the food is quite expensive!

We went for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. The place felt disorganized as soon as we walked in the door and we waited 5 minutes just to speak to someone about getting a table. After realizing there is no table service, we ordered at the counter. The drinks came out straight away but the food took almost an hour and by the time it did arrive, it was cold. The strawberry thick shake I had was ok but you could taste it had never actually seen a real strawberry in it’s life and exuded an flavour of chemical fakery. Admittedly it was very busy and felt like a hive of activity but — a bit like a hamster, on a wheel — not much was actually happening. Rather than energetic and fun, it felt stressed out. I’ve been to quite a few American diner style restaurants in the US and all of them where much better than this, especially as far as service is concerned. Not having table service is a bizarre choice and creates this tense atmosphere as lines of people are standing around to order their food. There is also little incentive for the servers to provide good service as they presumably don’t get tips. Overall very disappointed and will not be heading back in a hurry.

Being amongst friends is what made my experience here good, the food is ok and the service needs some work. With all the American style dinners popping up all over Melbourne, this supposed original one is looking old in the tooth and the quality diminishing…

So the main menu items here are the burgers. They’re alright overall, but nothing mind blowing. Lots of sauce. They are pretty big, in typical American fashion. They don’t come with any chips/fries either. We had a Misty’s Original, 2 Western & Bacon and a Double Whammy. I tried 2 — Misty’s Original sorta reminded me of a Big Mac crossed with an Aussie fish’n’chip shop style burger. Not bad. Western & Bacon was nice at first, but by the end of it the overwhelming amount of BBQ sauce(I usually slather everything in tonnes of sauce) and oily onion rings was making me feel a little bit sick. Also ordered a main side of Chilli fries(comes with forks) and curly fries, aswell as some drinks including the best drink in the world, Dr. Pepper. The service was pretty good(we came on a Wednesday night, I’m not sure what it’s like on a weekend). The American waiters were attentive and friendly. For the four of us, the bill was about $ 120 — pretty damn steep for what we had. I think Misty’s is more about a dining experience than the food alone. If you only wanted great burgers you’d go somewhere else like Huxtaburger.

A real American diner. Forget these new American-inspired gastro pubs — if you want the real, cheesy deal, head to Misty’s. That might be misleading: the diners I’ve been to in America haven’t even been THIS American. Misty’s is a kitschy ode to the owner’s homeland, with a real ‘50s bent. Pink and green booths line the interior, with more floating tables to fit in the always large crowd at lunch and dinnertime. Small jukeboxes sit at the end of each booth, and the counter is stacked high with American brands of candy, cereal, a million types of Pringles and other supermarket goods. The milkshakes here are excellent. You have to try the Cap’n Crunch shake — it’s so think and delicious! As for the food, there are menu items better than others. I love the con queso fries, with spiced cheese sauce(it’s grossly good) and my deep-fried pickles were good, but the vegie burger sliders we ordered were pretty ordinary. I reckon the hotdogs look good so maybe I’ll try one of those next time. If you want a booth, I recommend booking for busy times. Also expect to be there a while — the service is fine but wait times are on the long side.

Sorry Julia L, I don’t think it’s right to bag a place because you dont like the type of cuisine. That’s like hating Indian food, then going to an Indian restaurant and giving them a poor Unilocal review because they served Indian food. Did you even eat here? I happen to love a great burger, chicken wings, biscuits and gravy and other traditional American foods. My poor review comes from the quality of the actual food, not the type of food served. Misty does an amazing job of providing quality service to her customers. SOmetimes the waitresses may be a little off, but I saw Misty herself in the restaurant checking up on tables, asking people if they had a good meal etc. For this reason, and her passion, I wish the food were better. The reality is, the food is unfortunately mediocre at best. I had a cheeseburger and wings. The wings were ok, but IM not a fan of the«gimmicky» sauce on the side option. Yes, it keeps the rest of the wings crispier longer, but its awkward, messy and not how ive seen it served anywhere in the united states. The burger was one of the worst burgers I’ve had in a long time. The bun was a horrid flashback to crappy grocery store buns of my childhood, but the meat was the real failure. Overcooked, rubbery, unpleasant tasting. I left over 2⁄3 of my meal. The fries that my friend got were undercooked and chewy, instead of crispy. I’m sorry, I can see the owners work hard for this place, but the food is substandard and is basically propped up by the«American» novelty factor.

I don’t see the novelty in greasy American ‘diner’ food and am still struggling to see it in the form of Misty’s Diner. Its just high fat, cholesterol rising, artery clogging, heart attacks on a plate. This place goes hand in hand with that American fast food joint Heart Attack gill you’ve literally got the Single Bypass Burger, Double Bypass burger, Triple Bypass Burger and the Quadrupedal bypass burger. Did i mention the flat liner fries? Anyway… you get my drift.
