Its the worst seafood that I have ever had. Extremely oily. It’s the last thing you want to have if I you are a health conscious person. And buyers be aware: The«potato scallop» has no scallop in it! If you want to have scallops, don’t order it! It’s better be named as «scallop-shaped potato» to avoid confusion. The worst part is that, when you approach the vendor and ask why there is no scallop in «potato scallop», the vendor rudely answers, «You should ve asked».

Got the fishermans plate. Fish didn’t have much flavor, but it wasn’t bad and heavily battered with tasty batter. The fries were reaaally good(crispy, right amount of salt), but could have benefited from some ketchup or mayo or some sort of aioli. The prawns were also tasty, again heavy on the batter but it wasn’t bad. They all were complimented by the tartar sauce. I’d recommend this — it was more than I could eat with all the chips, and I ended up having to peel some of the batter off the fish so I could finish all the seafood without even being able to eat half the chips myself(I had some help). Only thing that could make it better was if it wasn’t 25 $, and if I got more than 1 tartar, and some sauce for the fries.

Most convenient takeaway option for seafood and sushi in The Star café court area. There’s a bar as well which is handy for pre theatre drinks or needing a break from gambling. I wanted simple so I ordered sweet potato chips and beer battered prawn sides. The chips were incredibly well seasoned, you don’t need extra salt or sauce… absolutely delicious. Can be ordered in small or large portions. The beer battered prawns were butterflied but drowned in oil and a complete turn off. They cooked the food quickly and the service was a chirpy old Asian lady. If you come here during peak hours prepare for long lines because this takeaway stall is definitely the largest and most popular one in the atrium, equipped with a massive fish skeleton decoration lording down above you.

This stall is the most imposing one among with a huge skeletal artsy thingy hanging, making it impossible to miss. First we were going to Din Tai Fung, then I saw the Fisherman’s Basket special, I couldn’t resist! FISHERMAN’S BASKET At $ 20, I found it of reasonable value. Each element was cooked to a high standard, yes some places still manage to overcook fish and chips. All of it was fresh, batter on each of them crispy, not rock hard and the crispness was just right for me. Prawns and calamari had been just cooked enough the texture was tender and fresh. Even just having the fish on its own would be a good meal. Chips were nice not the best but still good. Conclusion This is probably the best fisherman’s basket that I have eaten in Sydney. The quality of the ingredients and execution do justify the price tag in my opinion. @thesydneynoob
