I stayed at the Baronnet Apartments on my first surf trip to Australia back in 2009. I learned of the Baronnet from some friends who had stayed there in the past and said it was awesome, so I was all in. I arrived in Surfers at about 7:00 pm on a Sunday evening, and was immediately astounded at the appearance of the property — great landscaping and an overall clean appearance. I utilized the after-hours checkin method as the reception desk was closed, and it was effortless. The answering service quickly told me the combination to the safe where the keys and instructions were located. I was impressed with all the security features of the property. Doors won’t open without a device called a «fob» that’s attached to the keys being swiped. This included all interior and exterior entrances, in addition to the elevator. My assigned one bedroom apartment was on the fifth floor, Unit 503. I was completely blown away — couldn’t get over the size. Everything was in excellent condition, with white ceramic tile floors, modern, bright furniture, and direct ocean views. The apartment was decorated very similar to their website’s photos — always good truly getting what’s advertised. The kitchen was fully stocked, including pots, pans, dishes, silverware, with modern appliances including a dishwasher, microwave, refrigerator/freezer combo, food processor, toaster, coffeemaker — the works. An apartment sized washer, dryer and utility sink were located in the pantry between the kitchen and bathroom. Both the units worked very well, and it was very convenient having the capability of doing laundry without leaving the apartment. The bathroom was in excellent condition, with all tile, with all fixtures and lights in great working order. Water pressure was very good. The bedroom was huge, contained a queen sized bed, separate balcony entrance, modern furnishings, a 3 mirror door closet, and was fully furnished with blankets, pillows, towels, ironing equipment, etc. The living room and dining area were huge and had an all-white, modern, ceramic tile appearance. The dining room table was huge, was glass paned, and had six chairs. The sofas and coffee table were bright and modern. The balcony and views that came with it truly made the apartment. It was completely furnished with chairs, a table, and a chaise lounge. Just a couple of smaller buildings in front of the property did not disturb the direct views of the ocean, Esplanade and the surrounding buildings — the views were terrific. It wasn’t even necessary to go directly to the beach in the morning, as the sun was perfect right on the balcony during the morning hours. It appeared that air conditioning was available for hire, but it was unnecessary as the ocean breezes did just fine on their own. The swimming pool, sauna and outdoor BBQ area on the ground floor were all great, and very nicely landscaped. The next morning, I went to the reception desk and had the pleasure of meeting Judy and her staff. I had just learned that despite several calls to my credit company to let them know of my international travel before my trip, they put a temporary block on my credit card which couldn’t be released for 24 hours. As I still had to pay my balance, Judy was very understanding of the situation. True customer service, and much better than getting the boot! She was very knowledgable about the area and offered many suggestions of places to eat, drink, and shop. The location of the property was a few streets down from Cavill, and was only about a 5 to 10 minute walk. I preferred not to be in the center of the action, so this property was just far enough away where everything’s quiet. Great shops, restaurants and bars within a stone’s throw. Thanks again to Judy and her staff for their great hospitality and awesome property.
