Not my favorite café, but good! The staff are sweet and are willing to modify menu items, which I have found is rare in Australia. I asked for two fried eggs with cheese and roasted tomatoes which was not on the menu and they happily made it for me. It was very tasty– the tomatoes especially. The chia tea latte there is very good. The only thing I did not like about the place was there were a ton of flies. It’s a quiet café though and a good place for doing work or for a meeting.

Best brunch here in ages. HOT coffee, yippee Corn cakes tasty, cooked just right, lots of salsa, the right amount of sour cream and sweet chilli sauce. Back to the«good old days» where this was our favourite place for weekend brunch. Hope it stays this way. Quality/consistency will win every time, and get good reviews. Would like to see a new menu, the older one was more interesting«different» choices.

I ordered poached eggs, avo, bacon, tomato and haloumi. Everything was oily and tasted slightly burnt, and it had obviously all just been fried up together on the hot plate, with all the flavours merging together. Poached eggs were overdone and hard in the centre. Staff were attentive.

We came back after a long break from what used to be our weekend regular go-to café. Standards had fallen with quality inconsistent. Happy to say today’s meal of French toast with bacon, strawberries & maple was a welcome return to form. My partners corn cakes were also the best she’d had for a long time BUT bacon was hard, condiments were sparse and added sides(bacon/avocado) were overpriced. Previous efforts have been burnt, fell to bits on touch or tasteless. Coffees were good although had to return partners first latte as it was cold.

I don’t know how you can make Toby’s Estate coffee badly but this place knows how. The coffee was horrible and tasted like cleaning product. The food looked nice as it came out though.

Awesome little café on Alison road. Read some good reviews and was meeting some friends for lunch, one of which is Gluten Intolerant and decided to come here as the menu had GF and Veggie Options. We met here on a Saturday afternoon and sat outside. The view isn’t great as its just cars passing by but it was still a nice day out. I ordered a chai latte and it was yummy. My friends ordered the salmon benedict breakfast and the gluten free fields mushroom bruschetta — which was mushroom and cheese. I ordered the field mushroom eggs benedict. We all decided on the half portion sizes. The food came out within ten minutes and we were all pretty hungry by then. I cut into my mushroom and noticed that where there was supposed to be egg was cheese. I realized that they gave me the mushroom bruschetta instead so I told the waitress. She apologized and took it back. My friends had already started eating so I just had to wait another 6 – 7 minutes before getting the right order. When it came out my friends were also done but the egg was nicely poached and the hollandaise was creamy and delicious. The field mushrooms were nice and flavorful and the multigrain bread was also very tasty. Overall a very good, healthy and filling meal. Can’t imagine how full we’d be if we had gotten the full portions! Definitely will come back. Good service, good food.

Café One Six Nine is a cozy café out in Randwick that does a many things very well and a few things that are just run of the mill. The food is fresh and quickly prepared, the service is pleasant and accommodating, and the ambience is one of all ages. You’ll see pensioners, adults, and kids alike in this café, and when I mean you’ll see kids, I mean you’ll see kids. There’s even a section carved out just for kids or relaxing with some reading materials. But yeah… I hope you like kids… and good service. While the food is fresh, it’s hit or miss, as is the coffee… sometimes it’s good, and sometimes it’s nothing to run home to write about. However, it’s a great place if you’re if the area and you’re hungry or want to relax… or if you have kids.

Only open since 2010, Café One Six Nine has carved itself a niche and a loyal clientele base in the Randwick area. It is a lovely family owned business — the owner is always incredibly friendly and chatty, and is the sort to remember your usual order. They produce consistently delicious coffee — a fairtrade blend known as ‘The Golden Cobra’, which is also available to take home in 500g packs. Their breakfast and lunch menu is wonderful — the dishes are beautifully presented, extremely fresh and constantly changing in time with the seasons. This is ideal for their regulars, like me, who can be sure that by the time they’ve worked their way through the menu, there are new and interesting dishes to be tried. I would especially recommend their yoghurt with fresh fruit and granola, and their field mushrooms with poached egg on toast. Having young children themselves, the owners are very sympathetic to mothers and armfuls of children. They have a little play area full of their own children’s old toys for the kids to play with whilst the parents can relax outside in the courtyard. It’s refreshing not to get any disproving looks when your child screams or knocks something over, and when the children tire of the toys, on the opposite side of Alison Road is a great little play park with plenty of entertainment. A brilliant little café, which, rumour has it, will soon be open for dinner. I can’t wait.
