You would be forgiven for thinking that you have stepped into a patisserie in Europe, and the great news is(if you don’t want to in particular) you don’t have to walk(or catch a bus) to Balmain and queue up at Adriano Zumbo’s for cakes and macaroons, especially with the macaroons here. They might give Zumbo’s macaroons a good run for their money; yet the macaroons here at this patisserie at the village end of Darling Street Rozelle might just give Zumbo’s macaroons a good run for their money. All of their macaroons, cakes and pastries are just delicious here; and loaded with sugar and sugar coating too: yet you don’t need to buy too much, and he hardest decision in most cases is deciding what to buy. The pastries are great, and as you know so are the macaroons. The crème de la crème of the cakes is usually the fruit tarts; especially the strawberry tarts. Buy two of them and head to a friends house nearby(or a park) and enjoy. Allow your friend(if the friend’s house works) to make you a delicious cup of herbal tea in exchange for providing the sweets; and you will feel a sense of momentary bliss with the two combined together. Smashing idea.

Another strange mix of stores — café? Bakery? Patisserie? Restaurant? A no to the latter almost instantly; the kitchen closes at 3, unless you want to take home some of their microwave meals. But the place is fun and quirky, like so many on darling street. I suppose you should just prepare to be a little confused as you walk in. Presented in the window are the patisserie foods, followed up by entire cakes, pies and quiches in the glass cabinet inside. Behind the counter is a pie oven holding pies and sausage rolls, which seems a little out of place compared to the highly presented other foods. And then there’s a glass fridge/freezer(I can’t tell which), which holds a series of meals and soups to be taken home and microwaved. I suppose the idea would be to go to a restaurant, order and enjoy a dish, and be able to take a second one home for tomorrow night. This wasn’t so, however, as upon asking for a menu, I was told there wasn’t one. What I see is what’s available. So the microwave meals are the only ones they sell? Half of me wanted to ask if the frozen dishes could be microwaved and enjoyed here and now. Perhaps I’ve missed something here. Hmmm. Do some other Unilocalers have some more information?
