I could wax lyrical about this coastal path for hours. Taking a stroll along this stretch of coast is one of my all time favourite things to do in the world. When I’ve been living overseas I would often daydream of this stretch of coastline. Even in winter a walk near the water along this path will make me feel that everything is right with the world. On sunnier days when the ocean turns into a endless pool of sparkling sapphires it’s beyond magical. Running, walking, bike riding, rollerblading — it’s a great track for all. Bring your bathers for a swim post-exercise!

Rating des Ortes: 4 Sorrento, Australia
Every morning, I drive up West Coast Drive to Trigg Island Café for my morning coffee. Every morning, I watch the swarm of joggers and cyclists as they move between Sorrento and Trigg in the already too-hot sun in a valiant attempt to stay fit and keep healthy. I am always very pleased to be in the car. There are two ways one could review a running path. The first would be to run it oneself, getting the endorphins going as the Indian Ocean sparkles to the west, making one’s way up and down the undulating path, and passing judgement on the experience. The other would be to review it as a spectator: whether you’re a connoisseur of the good-looking, an aficionado of the weird-looking, or merely just a casual people-watcher on the lookout for a curious bit of business involving a father and his children, two friends of wildly different body types, or a pregnant woman who thinks running in the sun is a good idea, this running track is a gold mine. Take up a perch in one of the various cafés lining the route, or drive along it with the window down, and breathe in this teeming mass of humanity as tankers move slowly across the horizon on their way past Rottnest Island to the sea.
