I always going to a BYO restaurant, but more often than not I forget to bring a bottle of wine with me, and I never know where to find a bottleo in the city. #firstworldproblem? Absolutely. But in any case I was very happy to stumble upon Red Bottle on Sussex Street. It’s a fresh and bright little store — much more civilised than hitting up a dingy pub to see if they have a bottle shop attached — and they’re open nice and late. This time we were heading to my beloved Mamak, so beer was on the menu. Red Bottle had a good array of local and international varieties. Ditto on the wine I spied. All reasonably priced. Not Dan Murphy’s prices, mind, but for the extra convenience of being smack bang in the middle of the CBD, I’m not complaining. As we walked towards Golburn Street and our delicious Mamak dinner, we were stopped no fewer than three times and asked where there was a local bottleo. I guess that makes thi particular #firstworldproblem fairly common.
