Menu is typical. Price a little expensive for what you see on the plate. Unfortunately the service is no better. As for authentic… its ok. I mainly come here for one dish. That’s the Char kway teow.

The meals here are divine. Usually have the beef roti with some chilli prawns. The calamari is also excellent. In winter it can be a tiny bit cold.

Horrible service, overpriced hawker style food and shocking Nasi Lemak. A bit worrying that they had a serious insect problem, flys and bugs around everywhere. Would not recommend going to this place and I definitely won’t be back :(

Similar menu to its relation Chinta Ria Soul, but layed out in a more modern and thriving atmosphere, and devishly more expensive. With an open kitchen facing the restaurant, there’s no room for mistakes here! The food is very tasty, packed with exotic flavours; you’ll feel like you’ve instantly been transported to Malaysia. There’s a small alfresco dining area out front too, which is perfect on a balmy Melbourne evening to share some curry puffs and laksas with your friends and family. Tip: It’s bustling in summer, so make a booking before turning up.

I always enjoy Chinta Blues. It’s this weird combination of bustling eastern hawker style atmosphere and food in a very westernised restaurant. It’s probably not the most authentic malaysian experience, but hey… it’s tasty! And really, tasty is where it’s at, right? A great spot on a Summer evening to sit with friends and graze on various delicious dishes with the doors wide open.

I love Chinta Blues, situated up on a bit of a hill on Acland Street, the lovely Asian restaurant is decorated with loosely hanging coloured light globes that shine brightly at night and colour the outdoor seating by day. Chinta Blues has a great open plan kitchen that allows you to see inside as the chef’s prepare your meal. There is lots on the menu to choose from, I have dined at China Blues a number of times and never been disappointed. I really enjoy the Lohbak or Curry Puffs as starters and my favourite dish for main would have to be Ayam Ria a traditional chicken dish with ginger, chilli and fresh veggies, Yum! Chinta Blues is a licensed venue but they also offer BYO, which is great if your looking to save a few dollars, corkage is cheap and they will bring out an ice bucket for white wine and champagne. Chinta Blues is a high end Asian restaurant with competitive prices for their quality meals and service.

It gets quite busy here as it is so popular, but have no fear as if you cannot get a table try your luck at Chinta Ria Soul which is the same restaurant basically just a nice stroll down the other end of Acland street. I really love the open plan kitchen where you can see everything the chefs are doing. If you have ever been to KL you will see the direct parallels not only in the open plan kitchen or the colourer lights blowing in the wind outside but the food is very authentic. Every time my friends and I come here we cannot go past ordering the roti with satay sauce. With a subtle spice and chunks of peanuts this has to be some to the best satay sauce I have ever had.
