Sehr sehr junges Publikum. Vor 01:00 braucht man nicht hin. Coole Aufmachung. Hat 2 Floors Musik hab schon bessere DJ’s gehört und gesehen. Eintritt 20bucks nicht billig.

I kind of have a love /hate relationship with WahWah. I love it because the music rocks, the venue is rad and i dance up a storm here! Other times i find it to be really stuffy, the venue squashes in as many people as possible and feel like im a sardine in a can(Then again, if that’s your thing then WahWah is perfect). The one thing i do like is that WahWah, it’s got two vibes to it… Downstairs is loungey, big booths and sofas for you to hang out on and upstairs is the dance floor and larger bar. The coolest thing about WahWah is the upstair light up roof, it’s unreal… You feel like your in a giant electro spaceship! The crows is young(mainly 18 — 23 year old) so be prepared, everyone just want to drink and dance!

In my opinion the 90s is a decade to leave in the past for a while yet, it’s still a little too raw. So when a friend said there was a 90s night on Thursday’s at Wah Wah and they wanted to go, I tagged along with some reluctance. It wasn’t a bad bar, it just wasn’t particularly good considering the wealth of options available in Melbourne. The small bar was almost empty and although the drinks were at 90s prices — about $ 3 a pot from memory — the tunes were 90s pop and the flashing lights felt like a school social, not a club. The semi-circle lounge seating takes up a lot of space and is really anti-social as you have to shout to be heard by the person next to you and even then it’s hit and miss so everyone gave up and ended up sitting there looking glum. If you miss the 90s Wah Wah might be good for you but if you don’t you might want to look elsewhere on Thursday nights at least.

The bar has custom made flashing, bubble lights covering the celling, walls and floor, which is kinda cool especial if you’ve had one too many. But there’s one other thing about this club that I thought was much cooler. I have to say, Wah Wah gets my vote for best bouncers ever. Men dressed in black greeted me with a smile and directed me to the right floor. Throughout the night I’d take regular trips downstairs to get a break from all that doof-doof going on upstairs and have a chat with the guys at the door. I never expected them to be so gosh darn nice. As I left the club on my own, they asked whether I enjoyed my night and whether I needed any help. After telling them I was quite alright, but thanks for the thought, we said our goodbyes. No, I wasn’t drunk off my face or anything like that that warranted the extra questioning. I’ll have you know I left at a reasonable time and could walk a straight line while reciting the alphabet. So they may not have fended off some goon or come to my rescue, but they were polite and entertaining even more so than some of the people in the club itself. And for that I just wanted to say thank you to the big, burly men who manned the doors of Wah Wah that night.
