Came to the free park area today to bring my friends 13 month old to play at the water park. Great 300 mm deep pool with some light flowing water towera to shower water over the kids. Great for small kids as the water isn’t too powerful or too deep. Its not a large area but keeps the younger kids happy. The pool itself isn’t shaded but it is surrounded by shade sails to sit under as you take a break from the pool. The area is full enclosed so no children wandering off. Right next to the water playground is a large park and play area and I thibk would be an amazing spot for a picnic. We stopped in the café for lunch and had lovely squid and turkey quesadilla. Bonus that access to a lot of areas at Whiteman park are free and I recommend the drive out.

I think Whiteman Park is one of Perth’s hidden gems. Admittedly, I have not visited half of its attractions — there are various museums(rail and car, I think?), walking trails, Caversham Park, café, shops, playgrounds, and endless green spaces and barbecues perfect for get togethers. They seem to always have different events on too, both educational and just fun(like dog days)! The staff are some of the nicest and most dedicated folks that I have met, and they do a great job keeping the grounds clean and attractive. One of the highlights of Whiteman Park, for those in the know, is the Woodland Reserve. This is a large predator-proofed enclosure where a variety of native animals, including endangered species like the woylie, are able to flourish. They serve an important role in both education/outreach and also conservation, serving as breeding areas and insurance populations. While the reserve is normally off-limits to the public, you can sign up for guided walks(most?) Friday nights, for a great chance to see some beautiful bush, learn about some lesser-known native wildlife, and spot some the adorable little guys! A great night.

Whiteman Park is located just 18 km from the Perth CBD. With a huge number of attractions, if your looking for something new to see or do, then this is the place to go. With Motor, Truck and Transport Museums, tram and train rides, pottery centre, village art gallery and a lolly shop, there is something for everyone to enjoy. There area large number of BBQ and picnic areas, play grounds for the kids and a mini water playground that will keep thekids occupied on our hot summer days for hours. More and more of my friends are starting families, so we can catch up with the kids, we bring them down and let them run around whilst we have a barbecue. There is a lot more to come and see at Whiteman Park, so pick a weekend and come on down.

With Whiteman park encompassing so many projects it is easy to see why their largest initiative is so often overlooked. The woodlands is hidden away at the very top(North) of the park and covers over 50 hectares of natural woodland. This area is protected and houses a variety of native, endangered species one of which I learned was the Woylie(which kind of looks like a pigmy quokka.) The brochure says that the aim of these woodlands is to establish a «Costail Plain landscape containing the natural complement of biodiversity, to be sustained in perpetuity» That rolls off the tongue like superglue, but fundamentally a great goal to strive towards– I interpret this to mean they want to construct and preserve a natural ecosystem, which allows all natural biodiversity to survive, maintaining a healthy and sustainable balance. Priceless.

Whiteman Park has a lot of different things for a lot of different people. The parks have acres of bushland to explore and hike through, children’s playgrounds, water playground, cycle paths, café and dog park. There is also museums, wildlife parks, art stores, lolly shops, train rides and so much more. It is free to get into the park and use the facilities. It costs extra for attractions like the museums and trains. In summer this is a great day out. Bring a picnic, there are lots of barbecue facilities. Get out in the sunshine and enjoy Perth’s sunny days. Let the kids run wild and let off some steam.

Whiteman Park is a sprawling nature reserve with enough variety to suit almost all needs. There are several areas of well-manicured grass, perfect for a ball game and for the kids to run around while the adults lounge on picnic mats. For those wanting to get in touch with nature, there are tracks leading into the bush, and for those with dogs, there is a large dog park where dogs can run off the leash and, if they so choose, mingle with others. Whiteman Park is a great place to go — for two and four legs.

Great park for all ages — something for everyone. Amazing lolly shop for the kids and teens(and me!), beautiful bush walks for the grandparents and the kids wired on lollies and even a motor museum for the boys! There is even a tram that runs around the park so you can see the whole thing — it is so big that you are bound to miss something unless you are on a guided tour. Good to visit no matter the weather, have undercover picnic areas for winter as well as a small water area for the kids on a warm day!

Whiteman Park is the sort of place where you can let your kids run wild and they will never get into anyone’s way. A long walk along the bush walking trail will tire them out but will keep them entertained. If they need a quick energy fix, there is The Lolly Shop, or if perhaps a little bit peckish, try The Village Café. On a warm summer’s day, the kids will enjoy splashing around in the mini water playground. The 30 cm splash pool will keep them cool and the surrounding shady areas will keep the parents out of the sun. Whiteman Park also offers barbecues, shelters and playgrounds to keep everyone amused. The Motor Museum of WA can also be found at Whiteman Park, along with Caversham Wildlife Park and the Tractor Museum of WA. Other facilities include a print shop, a pottery centre, a transport museum and an art gallery. If the size of the park is too much to handle, hop onto a train or tram ride around the park.
