Delicious authentic Japanese that I never get tired of! I always eat the teriyaki chicken bowl, it’s always fresh and full of flavour and you get a good serving for $ 9.80. Try the miso as well, it’s so good and perfect when you’re not well and it’s cold outside. Check the glass cabinet too for half price sushi, it’s still fresh even though it’s a day old and you can get a four pack for $ 2!

Very good fish and chips. Fast service, not greasy.

Half fish and chip shop, half Japanese take-out joint. A very limited selection of Japanese food. It’s mostly just teriyaki bowls, udon and some sashimi and sushi. I tried some salmon sashimi, teriyaki chicken sushi and the tempura udon. The food is good, but if it’s open I’d much prefer Tak E in Dianella for Japanese.

Great service from this small take away and sit down restaurant. They have a great selection of fresh tuna too. The teriyaki chicken bowl is great for lunch

As backwards as I am in all spheres of life, I walked into this sushi bar to get some fish and chips. I know, shame on me, but I was craving it and there isn’t anything more satisfying than, well, satisfying a craving. There are really only three things I look for in places like this; cleanliness, price, and taste. Aoi does very well on all three. Firstly, the sushi bar was pretty spotless(hopefully it’s always like this and not only because they knew I was coming). The price was very good, I think I actually paid less than $ 10 for my fish and chips! And the taste? Pretty bloody good! The fish wasn’t too oil, the chips were nice and crisp, and the tartar was the last component that married this meal. Will def go back for more, and may venture into the sushi section this time.

My sister is greatest sushi fanatic. She loves them all. Whenever we visit Dog Swamp shopping centre to do a spot of grocery shopping she can’t help but entice me to join her for sushi at this great little fish and chip shop come sushi bar called Aoi Japan. It’s a funky little place that focuses on easy, tasty, quality seafood and sushi, while neglecting the surrounds(put it this way, Swish N Chips in Mt Lawley is a five-star restaurant in aesthetic comparison). But back to the food itself: the sushi menu is extensive and includes the more generic tuna rolls, vegetable rolls with avocado, and salmon and avocado rolls, but fo something different I thought I’d try an eel nigiri and some of their squid salad. The former was a bit greasy, but the latter, while it had a rubbery texture, tasted very yummy. There’s an entire counter dedicated to seafood salads, but beside them was something I’ve never seen before: individual octopus tentacles in foam trays covered in saran wrap. Yes, individual. And they cost $ 5 a tentacle. Strange. I’ve yet to try the fish’n’chips here but they do look good.
