A lot of people love Vega so, so much. They love the bar, they love the atmosphere, they love the bands. Well, welcome to the views of someone not as enchanted. Let’s go through it, quick, but smooth: The bar: way, way too expensive for what you’re getting. AS in: what the hell is going on with these prices? Are you trying to make me smuggle in booze, Vega? The atmosphere: the atmosphere is made by the crowd because Vega offers nothing to the table. Pretty much all other venues in Copenhagen has something going for it, but Vega is all about… I’m not even sure. The bands: this probably has nothing to do with Vega, but economy and the choices of band managers(what do I know, I’m not nearly cool enough to be in a band), but the bands playing here are always either local or indie. That’s 90 percent of the time anyway. But the sound is okay.

This traditional concert venue is right in the heart of the old blue collar neighbourhood of Vesterbro. Of course, Vesterbro is now more hipster than blue collar, and Vega matches that. It started its life span as an assembly building for the unions, but now it houses two concert venues Lille Vega(‘Little Vega’) and Store Vega(‘Large Vega’). None of the concert halls are huge, so work well for a more intimate feeling, compared to larger places. This works great for both singer-songwriter style concerts, where the intimacy makes the connection to the audience that much stronger, and rock and r’n’b concerts, where you get a real down-and-dirty, sweaty concert feel. I’ve been to both types, and it works. It’s nice that the«lobby» area outside Store Vega has a bar, so you can head out here for a drink and away from the crowd and the music, if either becomes too much for you. Or as a place to hang out during the warm-up gig, if fails to impress. What works less well is the logistics of the place. Coat checks are inefficient, even if they poor people behind the counter try their best, and toilets are too few, and too dirty. And in spite of this being smaller concert venues, and indoors, so theoretically easier to mike up for optimal sound, I’ve too often found the sound to be a disappointment.

Vega is one of the most legendary concert venues in Scandinavia — not only due to its history, but also because the acoustics. If you are an audiophile, this is the place to go. When you walk inside the doors, you instantly get greeted by an artistic style that is very old fashioned and that’s not wrong. It was designed in the 50s and that design is still very much intact. It really feels like a piece of history when you arrive, and it only gets better when you get further inside the building. Inside the large hall, you can not only see the concert from the floor below the artists, but also from a balcony that goes all the way around from left side to the back to the right side, which just adds a whole new dimension for the artists as well. I usually stand on the balcony closest to the left speakers, which is my sweet spot; you can always find me there. There are plenty of bars and the prices are just around what you would expect a concert venue would have them at. I drag friends and family to this place, at any chance I get — and so should you

Saw Interpol at the VEGA on their El Pintor Tour in Feb 2015. Nice little venue. Easy access, plenty of space to get a beer and not expensive. Having seen the band in a number of venues, the acoustics of Vega were sharp, similar to what you would expect from a Music Hall. The crowd were just a little more subdued than at other Interpol shows, but in general — one of my favorites. And if one of your favorite artists happens to play the Vega, its a great reason to see Copenhagen.

Good place for concerts. Visited it recently for an electronic music concert. Most thing were okay but the sound system for such event should have been better. Easy accessible, friendly staff and all in all a nice experience.

Have been to Vega numerous times and I just love the cosiness of it and how close you can be to the artists. People also in Denmark tend to be quite cool about famous people so no one is pushing towards the stage and if you go early enough you can secure yourself a good spot. I have been only to store vega, which can accommodate quite a lot of people but still it is not a huge venue. It keeps it’s simplicity and togetherness. There are two bars downstairs, one inside and one outside the main area. Upstairs there is a balcony which has seated area, but is too far from the stage in my opinion. Have seen a lot of artists here like Yann Tiersen, Of Monsters and Men, The Lumineers and The Vaccines! The garderobe costs 20 dkk so have some cash with you for that. The toilets for men are on ground floor and for women on first floor. I thought first that they favour only the men in Vega but the key is to find your way to the next floor! You can check on the page of vega for upcoming concerts! They are mostly in winter time so keep an eye!

I’ve been here for concerts and Oktoberfests… VEGA and Little Vega are great places for concerts. But it gets too hot in Little Vega. Wish that they would do more about the air-conditioning. Cheap drinks, friendly bar staff, good atmosphere. I always smile a little bit extra when I find out a DJ I like will be playing here. I don’t care very much for their nightclub, Ideal Bar. Lots of creepy guys trying to score, even if you don’t give them signals.

I came here to see a concert, and was pleasantly surprised by this venue. The sound was great, the coat check was orderly, and the drinks were relatively affordable. It’s pretty easy to get close to the stage, but the relatively small size makes is so that your visibility is pretty decent even if you’re at the very back. There’s also a small balcony if you want a more unobstructed view. Overall, I recommend catching a show here if you get the chance.

Been to Vega 3 times, twice for concerts, and once just to drink and dance. As a nightclub, it’s a lot of fun, but aside from being very large, it’s not any better or worse than the other nice dance clubs one will find in Copenhagen. In terms of being a live music venue, Vega is fantastic! Both concerts I saw here(The Roots, Immortal Technique) were top notch in terms of value and production. Tickets were very affordable, beverage lines were short so nobody missed too much of the show, and I was able to enjoy some of Christiania’s finest greenery without bothering anybody. One of the finest concert venues I’ve ever been to.
