wow wow wow. rarely do i give 5 stars. dined her in november(2015) and i must admit that the experience exceeded all expectation. above and beyond service. every bite is DIVINE and delicious. this ended up being one of our very favorites on our trip(out of noma, frantzen, relae, etc). i also have a ton of food allergies and they not only accommodated with pleasure and grace, they made every bite excruciatingly delicious. ****another reason why i found geranium to be so great was that you could tell all the chefs were excited and happy to be there. when you go to frantzen or noma, you can sense from the chefs that they are in their grind, working the whip per usual, rolling out diner after diner. it felt refreshing and special when you can see genuine happiness in the staff. we will be back!

This meal was exceptional, as everyone has noted. Its certainly on par with places like The French Laundry. There are only 10 tables and it seemed like just as many chefs, with a fantastic view of the park. The light during sunset was gorgeous. Service was a relaxed pace but didn’t feel slow. As a vegetarian, all of my dishes were well-considered. In fact, my meat-eating companions were jealous of a few of them, especially the truffle-laden mushrooms with winter cabbage. My friend has a cucumber allergy, which didn’t impact her dishes or desire to do the juice pairings, which were just as creative as the food.(Though I was very happy with my wine pairings.) The wait staff is not at all stuffy — very friendly and easy to chat with. And I really liked how many of the dishes were presented by the chefs themselves. Service ends by moving to the lounge area for sweets and coffee, which is a nice way to end what is at least a 4 hour meal. I felt satisfied but not overly stuffed at the end.

Style over substance. Everything was very solid; nothing was spectacular. At this price point, I would expect to be wowed flavor-wise by at least some of the dishes.

Food: 4.5÷5.0 Service: 4.5÷5.0 Value: 3.0÷5.0 Décor: 4.5÷5.0 Overall: 4.5÷5.0 Did the spring menu with juice pairings over an 18 course(counting the five post-dessert sweets as one) Saturday lunch. Great relaxing service(including an extremely lenient dress code) considering the setup over four hours, with the chefs coming out to serve and describe the courses. The restaurant is located on the 8th floor of a complex surrounding a soccer stadium, and has a great view overlooking a large park(Fælledparken). The individual courses are extremely creative works of art, though on taste the food is not unmatched(I heart double negs). Definitely worth it though it’s certainly harder to get a decent reservation now that Michelin decided to rain a few third stars across Scandinavia.

Restaurant Geranium is Copenhagen’s first Michelin three star restaurant. Very fortunately for me(and my girlfriend), I was able to book my reservation right before the third Michelin star was awarded and announced with all reservations getting fully booked for the following three months. Geranium is located right next to the soccer/football stadium, which required a taxi ride from the center of the city. For those that are biking, it’s about a 20 minute bike ride from the city center. The restaurant itself is located at the top floor of the building in an otherwise very corporate building with various businesses getting on and off at each floor. Once inside, you’re warmly welcomed by the host, who offers to hold your coat or bags during your meal. She’ll walk you though this absolutely stunning room with a newly renovated open kitchen that makes for a more dynamic experience. When taken to your seat, you are asked the standard restaurant questions at a Michelin level restaurant, which includes if you have ever dined at the restaurant before and if you have any food allergies. We were than handed an envelope, which listed out our 18+ course menu and a wine menu. Since our meal was for lunch, we chose not to have wine pairings but decided to try the juice pairings. Shortly after, one of the servers came by with a cart of 3 kinds of champagne and provided an overview of the flavors/experience of each bubbly. We opted for the crisp and fruity champagne, which we do not regret a bit. I won’t go into each course i tried, but the food itself was absolutely spot on with the juices pairing perfectly. If i had to choose a favorite, it would be the hake with the caviar and fish scales. Salty, creamy, crunchy, decadent. So many different adjectives could describe the flavors and textures in this dish, but everything came together and balanced so well. At the end of the meal, you are offered to have some coffee(provided by the Coffee Collective) and snacks in the waiting area, which oversees the practice soccer/football field. Now, let’s talk about service. Geranium goes above and beyond with how they serve you. A variety of chefs, including Chef Rasmus Kofoed, come to present your dish, especially as several dishes required to be finished at the table with various creams /sauces used. The co-owner and front of the house, Søren, is fantastic, and if he were to host any party, it’d be the party of the year. In conclusion, this is no cheap meal but is also Copenhagen’s first Michelin three star restaurant for a reason. If you are able to get a reservation and happen to be in Copenhagen, I will call you mad for not dining here.

This was my favorite meal thus far in Copenhagen. Everything they create is beautiful and well worth the money. The service is also amazing and more relaxed than any other Michelin I’ve been to, which was surprisingly refreshing. A must go for any foodie! :)

As part of my big 4 – 0 celebration, hitting Paris and Copenhagen for their Michelin eatery experience! Geranium 3 M Stars: I would give this place a 3.5 stars on food actually… however the dining experience was interesting and the service was«almost» impeccable… just«almost». We opted for their signature dishes which is the 12 courses vs. the 15. with juice pairing, because we don’t drink.(FYI — we had went to A/O/C another fine Michelin eatery the night before and sat for 3.5hrs… We were exhausted!) I’d like to compare Geranium to a Hermes Birkin bag… every dish looks amazing to the eyes, it’s attractive, well presented, just beautiful to look at… expensive, but it’s not an everyday meal, & certainly not for everyone, just as the Birkin is not your everyday bag. It took a few weeks of hunting the booking calendar to get a reservation. NOMA was a no-go, but glad we had Geranium. I enjoyed all 12 courses of our tasting menu and the oddly juice pairing — we only liked the apple mix — the rest were forgettable. There were 3 standouts — 1) the Hake Fish with Caviar, loads of it! 2) Razor Clams with edible seaweed and 3) the mysterious soup where we took a tour of the kitchen. With all its thought out service and timing, it was incredible to find that they actually«messed» up our courses. Our servers placed a new plate setting after our amazing hake fish with caviar, which would mean another dish is coming out. However after 10 minutes have passed, our servers simply came by to clear those ‘new’ plating away. We didn’t think anything of it. Turns out, our servers forgot the ‘bread’ course and there were no breads to serve as it was out of sequence by now. Alas, it was a good feeling that such an impressive restaurant… is still human. They did offer us coffee & tea to make up for the bread… But after 3hrs of sitting, we just wanted to go back to our hotel. Would I return? Of course! Is it worth the visit? Of course!

There’s not much that can be said about Geranium that hasn’t already been said. I made this reservation a month before going to Copenhagen but didn’t actually confirm(due to potential scheduling conflicts) until the night before and they were very gracious in allowing me to keep my reservation despite the late confirmation. We had the autumn tasting menu. My friend and I went to dinner and it was an incredible 4 hour experience. It honestly could have been 5 hours but we had to rush through service due to having to get up at 6AM for a flight the next morning. luckily our reservation was at 7:30 but we didn’t leave there until 11:15! Everything was divine! Since we came at night we didn’t see the soccer stadium that everyone on TripAdvisor seems to complain about(hehe), the views were great for us! I loved the space and the seating arrangement for 2 is very lovely and comfortable couch. maybe *too* comfortable during the dining experience. I didn’t feel at all like the service was pretentious, it flowed and all the servers were very informative. I loved how everyone from kitchen staff to even the guy who was maintaining the front desk was serving us(and everyone else). That made it feel informal and just really nice. Food and presentation was perfect and well executed. There was nothing that arrived on the table that made me want to spit it out. haha and trust me, I’ve been to Noma, El Celler and many other fine dining restaurants that had at least 1 thing that made me go eww. So yeah, this was great! Would do it again for sure!

20+ courses for $ 280 usd. Service is relaxed and makes jokes. I got the juice pairing which is interesting with lingonberry and other rare fruits. I got restless after 4 hours. The bathrooms are very lovely: mirrors on top half of 3 walls, a nice dark slate on bottom half, many plants.

You must go to this place. Impeccable service and food. Be prepared to be sitting and eating for 5 hrs(literally) and if you are traveling with someone else do: one wine pairing and the other the juice pairing. The juices were spectacular even for me being a wine lover. Go all the way and be prepared for an extraordinary experience… and check.

Had a beautiful lunch here today, a grey and windy day in Copenhagen. Stepping into this beautiful, inviting restaurant with its friendly, personable and knowledgeable staff was a great treat. There’s a clean, Scandinavian feel(as you’d expect) but nicely matched with softer elements, the fire and lovely lighting but nothing distracting from the view across Copenhagen. Opting for the full universe menu but with the smaller wine pairing, which worked well at lunch time, I felt. Highlights from the amuse-bouches were the Jerusalem artichoke leaf and a wee trip into the kitchen for the dried ceps and the opportunity to meet the kitchen team. The hake was particularly enjoyable, I found; well presented with plenty of textures and flavours but without anything too overwhelming. I’m something of a sucker for singed pine and the appearance of lamb, a small forest and a blowtorch did not disappointment. The lamb was light, mild in flavour and wonderfully presented. Desserts were typically understand, as is the New Nordic mode, which suits me fine. Clever and pretty the tree was my favourite with an almost woody flavour to the prune accompaniment. Spot on. Coffee was a work of labour, poured slowly and I large volumes, to an apparent specified formula, ending the meal on a great note. I feel lucky to have been.

If I were to wrap up the«universe experience» in one sentence it would be: Beautiful [semi]-edible works of art inspired by Rasmus’ experiences and notions of Denmark, let down by the front of house and awkward pacing. Pros: –Getting to sit in the kitchen and watch a symphony enfold in front of your eyes. We were able to take as many pictures as we wanted, and the entire kitchen staff insisted in stopping their meal prep to take a group pictures with us. –Amazingly friendly chefs who were willing to converse both in the kitchen, and table-side. The chefs are truly passionate about their work and of Rasmus. So much so, that one chef spent quite some time discussing his past cooking at the French Laundry and the new-found inspiration he has at Geranium. –Beautiful presentation, and a unique perspective on Scandinavian food. Cons: –Inattentive waitstaff. At times a chef would come out with a tray of food, and have to wait for assistance to present the course at the table. For us, after finishing our penultimate course we were provided a keepsake menu. Unbeknownst to us, the final«course» was a mini box of bonbons obtained while paying. This would have been fine if the check was provided with the keepsake menu. However, we spent the next hour wondering where the last course was, and more importantly where a server was. Once we finally flagged down a server, he seemed somewhat fazed that he brought us the menus without the bill. –Lacking coordination between front of house and back of house. After finishing a course, a gentleman in the table next to us stood up to use the restroom. Rather than waiting for him to return, food came out and was placed on the table while he was still away. Which unfortunately made him miss the presentation and final dressings that each plate obtained, as well as allowed for food to be eaten past it’s prime. –Awkward pacing. This could be attributed to a lack of coordination, but following the appetizer rounds, the main courses appeared at random intervals. One main course came out 30 minutes after the prior main course, while the following course arrived immediately after the table was cleaned. Overall, the food, creativity and EXCEPTIONAL tweezer use was great. But as an experience as a whole, it is definitely still lacking. At the price point of 1600DKK I’ve definitely had better all around experiences. But if you happen to be in Copenhagen, want a delicious meal for your eyes and your stomach, AND you’ll be willing to take 5 hours out of your day(depending on wait staff) you should definitely try Geranium. On a side note to many finer establishments, if you’re paying $ 300+ pp a meal why is coffee and tea still extra?!?

8th floor of a football stadium, great view over green fields, gigantic tables, the interior space is an unpretentious image of luxury. Glass walled kitchen invites you to watch the action, and chefs and servers interchangeably serve courses. Every one, for one course, sits inside the kitchen, for a closer view, cool. Food: absolutely beautiful, the epitome of flavour trends you’ll notice throughout your visit to Scandinavia. Let the photos and Geranium’s website do the talking, but some lifechanging highlights: seathorn berry ball with crunchy exterior and liquid interior, a transparently-thin apple-leather dumpling with tea leaves and dried fruit inside(like eating spring), very light clear tomato juice(clarified for days) the essence of summer, biodynamic onions(how do they coax so much depth and sweetness and umami out of one vegetable), scallops(revealed in a swirl of smoke), pork belly in a mulberry broth(stunningly tasteful balance between floral and umami).

There is not a lot to say, except it was one of the most enjoyable dinning experiences of my life. It was like nothing I’ve have ever seen before. I have been to the French Laundry, Gary Dankos, Meliese, Le Cirque, Michael Mina, and many more very high end restaurants. But there was nothing even close to what was performed here at Geranium this evening. I could go on and on about the service, originality, creativity, ambiance, wine list, tastes, textures et. al., but in a nut shell; it was a perfect evening. The thought, skill and training that went into each dish served was astronomical. Although, very expensive, it was completely worth the time and money spent. Hats off and congrats to you Geranium for giving me and my party such a unique and wonderful dinner. One more thing: Watch out old guys, here comes the new breed!

Exquisite! Just unseated French Landry as our favorite meal ever. Every plate was a work of art almost too pretty to eat. I’m generally not big on desserts, but they ended up being some of my favorites. LOVED that each table gets invited back to sit in the kitchen for one course. Fun to see the chefs in action. Service was excellent. Interesting that the chefs participate in serving and describing dishes to customers.

One of my favorite restaurants in Copenhagen for sure! I loved the approachability to the menu and I loved how interactive the chef was with the customers. The wines were okay, but the tasting menu was outstanding. One of the best dishes was the smoked langoustine on pine needles. Superb. The best thing was when one of the servers brought me over to the back of the kitchen where one of my desserts was served personally from the chef. I was able to meet the entire kitchen staff and take an amazing picture with them all. The vibe was so positive and encouraging as well. Usually in kitchens, the hierarchy is so obvious, but everyone had a mutual respect for one another which was great to see. The restaurant is modern and gorgeous as well.

Among the much talked about Scandinavian fine dining, Geranium was probably the most impressive to me as a total package — so far.(yes I have dined at Noma too .) Amazing presentation served by(even) a number of actual chefs makes you wonder what you are about going to taste — Clean, organic, fresh and delicate. And I have to mention how friendly everyone is ! I almost felt the similarity of Japanese Zen but Scandinavian way ;) — reminded me of — sort of «Japanese Kaiseki style«but in a different manner — I liked subtle but refined attention to details.(loved the plates too ;) Not to mention the impressive totally biodynamic Champagne and Wine list, their homemade organic juices are very nice too. Despite the series of snacks and courses they are not too overwhelming– well, they focused on more vegetable.(actually it can be a bit too grassy though to be honest, in Spring they love using edible flowers and grasses …) From the beginning to the end of desserts(with the fresh infusion tea of course ;) I had a smile on me. I liked the ultra sophisticated Danish décor that also had a warm rich feeling. As the fine dining these days offers more mixed experimental features of all kinds– Geranium does this amazing Scandinavian cuisine creation very nicely in Copenhagen.

I made a reservation for Geranium and Noma 1.5 months before coming to Copenhagen. Noma was a no-go and I heard back from Geranium a week before going. It’s one of the top 50 restaurants in the world and has won the Bocuse d’Or three times. They’ve won other prestigious awards, travel and food magazines printed and online rave about Geranium — so, you could say they’re a pretty big deal. You get a view of the park, stadium, water and Sweden(kind of). Their menu changes every so often. The day that we went, the 20 to 22-course Univers menu included: Crispy Grains from Kornly Milk, Fermented Juice from Carrot & Sea Buckthorn Pear & Lemon Verbena Jerusalem Artichoke, Rye & Walnut *Dried Flowers & Dried Apples *“Charred Potatoe” & Sheep Milk Butter Cep Soup, Truffle & Egg Yolk in Vinegar *Celeriac with Seaweed Salt, Skyr & Fishroe *Oyster, Fish Skin & Fermented Cabbage *Jellied Ham, Tomato Water & Sorrel Flowers «Dillstone», Arctic Char, Horesradish & Granita from Pickled Cucumber «Razor Clam» Bread with Emmer & Spelt Onions, Chamomile & Melted Hay Cheese *Lobster in Juniper Aroma with Pickled Pine, Berries & Flowers Grilled Tongue of Veal, Red Leaves & Lingon Berries «Forest Floor in April», Wood Sorrel, Beech Leaves & Woodruff *Rhubarb, Spring Flowers, Rose Hip The & Bees Wax Ice Cream *Green Egg with Pine Black Currant Bonbon with Licorice I enjoyed every dish, some more than others. I’ve marked with an «*» the ones that I liked best. What an amazing culinary experience! The presentation of each dish was unique. Deconstructed food + earthy and organic elements such as grass, rocks, flowers, pine combs, etc. You don’t get utensils sitting on your table. If your dish requires it, it will come served on it. Otherwise, use the utensils you were born with: your hands. Eat the flowers but please don’t eat the rocks unless they actually tell you they’re edible! There’s drama, theatrics and definitely an element of surprise. The excitement of not knowing what you’re going to get next… oh, what a thrill! We got invited to watch the magic happen inside the kitchen. We had front row seats to see chefs and sous chefs behind the scenes meticulously prepping and cooking each dish. We got to chat with them and we ate our«Razor Clams» there. It sure was an unforgettable meal. For 1200DKK/person, it sure was worth it! This is definitely a meal to be enjoyed leisurely. Savor each bite. Clear your activities for the afternoon, you’ll be here a while. I can die happy.
