What was the first thing that happened to me when I arrived in Copenhagen after 23:00? I went to this place for drinks. The prices for drinks were not too bad, but most of the drinks they serve are beer and hard liquor. They also say in English on the wall that this place«ISNOT A F****** COCKTAILBAR». Jägerbomb shots were about 40DKK but they had this special where you could get 10 shots of certain liquors for about 150DKK. That’s not a bad deal for drinks in Copenhagen. This place is not really a nightclub, but a somewhat large dive bar located in the Meat Packing District of Copenhagen. This area is supposedly where the nightlife happens on Saturday nights, and there was a pretty large queue waiting outside. There were a variety of people there, mostly local Danish people, but there were other Europeans I encountered. Inside was really crowded, and there’s not much room for dancing. There’s a special room with soft chairs and sofas that smelled like cigarettes. I guess it’s a smoking room. Overall, this is not a bad place if you are looking for a gritty place to get a lot of alcohol at a reasonable price in this part of Copenhagen. This place gave me a brief flavour of the Copenhagen nightlife, and it was fun meeting some local Danish girls.

Not good for dancing at all. It was elevator music all night & it did not change. The crowd is mostly around 18 year olds & it wasn’t fully packed on a Friday night. There were some local attractive Danish guys & that was perhaps the only plus.

Jolenes bar is in the Meat Packing district of Copenhagen. Its an up and coming area for excellent independent bars, restaurants and clubs. After a burger at Tommi’s we were looking for somewhere to have a drink… Jolenes enticed us with the blues and swing music sign outside. Whilst it was pretty empty early in the evening the place was heaving by midnight with everyone up on the dancefloor having a great time. Its one of the livelier places in the neighbourhood, grounded and very welcoming to all.

As always, the Meat Packing District does not disappoint! I went here last weekend and thoroughly enjoyed myself. Jolene’s was crowded and the dj played some lively music that I had never heard before, which is always a plus! The beer was relatively cheap compared to places in the center of Copenhagen too. The only reason this gets a 4 instead of 5 is because the layout is hard to navigate. The coat check is right next to part of the bar so it is very crowded when you’re trying to pick up or drop off your coat. The bathrooms were also somewhat tricky to get to, as they only had one entrance and you had to walk through the crowded dance floor to get to them(Bakken has hallways that connect both halves of the room, which is so nice!). I’ll definitely make Jolene’s a regular stop when I’m hanging out in the Meat Packing District!

Jolene can be a good place for dancing. It is located at the meat packing district and is a bar that has a very differing crowd. The music is also varying from time to time as different DJs tend to play. It is a good stop when you are at the meat packing. First of all there is no entrance fee or wardrobe. So you need to be a bit careful with your jacket during the night. They have a full bar with ok prices for Denmark. The interior is rather simple, with this industrial feeling of the old meat packing. They have cement floors and white tiles on the walls and the whole façade is from glass, being able to see outside. The size of the bar is quite small. However, there is a dance floor where there are almost always people dancing. It is often full and sometimes there is even a line to get in. I must say it is a bit divey and this is why it is not my favourite place to go, however I have had many fun nights there. So I do recommend it for some dancing, or for being part of a crazy crowd!

This is a cool little spot to stop by on the weekend. No cover(god, finally), usually good music, and varying crowds. It definitely gets more and more crowded the later it gets and the space is small, but I’ve met a lot of interesting people from all around the world – with some great dancing!

Such a shame it’s so small. Is characterised as dance club, but at weekends dancing is what you cannot do after 1 am. The dance floor is actually a wide corridor that connects the smoking room with the bar, so you get 5 pushes and 3 steps on your toes per minute! It is simply overcrowded for it’s size. And more than half of those are not in to stay or dance… just passing though to get on your nerves! On the other hand… it has free entrance with relatively short time waiting at the cue, pay for coat check is optional(you can just drop your jacket at some cornet or sofa), drinks are in good prices, bartenders and quite fast and the music is nice.

Free!!! — Buy a beer or BYOB — 20DKK coat check — but throw your coat on one of the couches so you don’t need to check it — Close to other bars — All techno — really hard to dance to this kind of music, so it’s more of a chatting place — Very stuffy in here

Completely packed inside, impossible to move around. Can’t even dance as people are trying to move back and forth to get to different areas. In the middle of the bar smelled like sewage. Yuck! Don’t think there was a cover charge here at least.

It’s a sad tragedy indeed when a bar named after my favorite Dolly Parton song ends up being a bust. The music is freaking awesome(or, at least it was last night), and you just wanna come in and groove with the best of ‘em the second you hear it. But then you realize they’ve let in about 100 too many people, and you can’t groove with the best of ‘em, because the best of ‘em are sardined in, just like you are. About 75% of the people in here are tourists, which isn’t a terrible thing, but still worth mentioning. This place was probably killer back when no one knew about it and it wasn’t so full, or during the summer when the people who don’t want to dance can loiter outside in the parking lot. But now it’s just… meh.

You have to know what you’re getting into when you’re getting into Jolene. If you get here early, it’ll be a bit chill, and a bit like WTF did I just trek to the meatpacking district for… but if you like sexually ambiguous men with asymmetrical hair and indie dance hits, Jolene will keep you company till you’re sweaty and in need of food and a taxi back home. We met some hilarious people, some off their faces on things that weren’t just vodka-based, some that had gone against the flow and brought in their own booze, all were perfectly ridiculous and made for a hilarious night of drinking, dancing and laughing the night away. Jolene does not give you frills, just thrills. And you’ll need some febreeze on the way out.
