The best dinner of my life(so far). A perfect balance of opposites. Favorites: white asparagus, monkfish, and Japanese style ice cream. Met Fabio and tasted his famous cocktail that tasted like drinking a cream-sickle.

Ok restaurant, but a bit overpriced. Great service and nice atmosphere are plusses. The details: we went there on Saturday evening, warm weather and even though it was about 19.30 we decided to try the place and sit outside since it was still warm and they have gas warmers. We started with cocktails, which were really good but expensive, and then had the 5 course chef’s pick menu. There is a wine package available, but we went for a bottle of nice riesling instead. The food was OK, but none of the courses was mind-blowing, which we would have expected for almost 500dkk /person. I can understand if some would be merely Ok, but one or two should in my opinion be superb to justify the price. Still, nice waiters and good atmosphere along with good wine and Ok food that definitely was enough to eat over 5 courses makes this place worth a visit if you aren’t short on change :)

Extremely expensive for the portion and quality of the food. it was really whatever. If you are used to having good for, this is not your place. I understand this is a tapa like place but I would compensate with flavor(this was not amazing)

High-end five course dinner — delicious and inspired without being too fancy. Kul is one of the fancy new restaurants in the party/hipster-district called«Kødbyen». The restaurant is decorated with black tiles and dimmed lights, which gives it a very laid back and«dampened» vibe. The price ranges from 500 to 1000 kr. per person, but if it’s your first time going here I would expect it to be on the higher end of the two. Each course is simplistic and usually not that filling(except for the spare ribs and the pork neck) so you probably have to get at least three courses. We went with the pre-defined menu(4 courses + dessert) along with a glass of champagne and a bottle of wine. The food was lovely, especially the pork neck. There was one fall-through; the crab — which wasn’t bad — just a bit boring. The waiter was informative and funny and we had a lovely time. Definitely a nice place to go for a fancy dinner or celebration.

Good — but also in the pricey range ~1500 dkk for two. They put fennel in the ceasar salad, and as me and my date don’t really like fennel(the liquorice taste), we were disappointed because they didn’t mention it in the menu. When we informed our waiter about the fennel, we were told that it was a ‘standard component’ in a classic ceasar salad(which is isn’t). The waiter proceeded to give us a bit of attitude the rest of the evening. We didn’t let the waiter with an attitude spoil the mood though and the rest of the food and drinks were spot on.

I really REALLY wanted to like this restaurant, I really did. It has great atmosphere(even if the music is a bit loud) and the staff was effecient and friendly. The menu was interesting to read and the food smelled great. We were so disappointed. While we expected some dishes to be a little salty(like the Iberico(?) … the Spanish cured ham… everything we had to eat tasted either only of salt and way too much of it… or almost nothing at all. The ribs were almost inedible. On top of that the efficient staff simply opened and replaced the bottled water without checking if we wanted it. we nearly fainted at the cost for the water. Seriously… be careful about allowing them to keep your glass full they were a little too efficient at it. The menu is wonderfully creative to read… but the execution was just not there. It was like they were trying too hard to impress and it was off the mark. Staff was fab but sadly just could not get past the disappointment of the taste.

We are so grateful to Danielle, the manager at Kul, because if she not been so incredibly obnoxious and difficult over honoring our long standing reservation, we never would have walked out and eaten instead at the Nimb hotel located in the Tivoli Gardens, where we had a truly superior meal while sitting outdoors listening to an open-air concert. The food was excellent, presented well, in a much more attractive setting, and not much more expensive(perhaps even less) than at pretentious Kul. We had made a reservation at Kul almost two months ago based on the recommendation of a Copenhagen resident we know. When we arrived, we asked to sit at one of the two empty tables outside, since all guests were eating outside, and the inside was completely empty. Danielle made multiple excuses as to why we had to sit inside, including that it was going to rain and if it rained, she could not move us indoors.(It never did rain, of course, and there was plenty of empty room inside if it had). While she was debating with us over where we could sit, the next couple, who were clearly a walk in with no reservation but happened to be Danish rather than American, was seated outside without a problem. Given the rude«welcome», we left and instead found our way to the Nimb hotel, where we had a wonderful meal with friendly and attentive service and a much nicer outdoor atmosphere.

150 dkk for water. I’m ok with paying for water. I’m not ok with paying 150 dkk for water. Also, there is a 2% service charge when paying by credit card, which is unheard of in cph even when buying a 26 dkk beer. Don’t go here, the only vegetarian dish was white asparagus, while tasty, it’s not something you’ll order three of(minimum amount to be at least somewhat satisfied), especially since it is 160dkk — the most expensive on the menu. Stay away, meat eaters and veggies alike!

Über cool! Verging on the pretentious. But the cocktails were really really good. We didn’t eat but the food looked really good.

«Kul» means coal, suggesting the primary source of heat for cooking. Their conceptual menu change occasionally, but it is always a relief how short it is. Depending on the menu, the dishes can be everything from long forgotten French country quisine with fasan liver and elegant spices or a regular fantastic tender grilled steak. But it is always more than just good food. It is served like paintings and sculptures. The service is good, and the setting cozy with dark furniture in rough materials with candles. There is a bar with stools if you prefer eating«by the flames».

ordered 8 dishes — two were tasty… the others sounded fancy. fish with sliced fruit — didn’t compliment. ribs we’re tasteless(how do you mess up ribs?). raw salmon with peas looks nice, but salmon has no seasoning.

This is an interesting restaurant, with an interesting and creative menu. They also have excellent cocktails and a good wine list. We were pleased with our first courses and anticipated an excellent dining experience. Our waitress was friendly and knowledgeable. However, our main courses were inedible. My companion had grilled duck hearts with shiitake mushrooms. There was nothing wrong with the primary ingredients, but they were drowned in a sweet sauce that destroyed the integrity of the dish. After a few bites, she could not continue. I ordered the pork ribs. Usually this is a dish that I finish off handily at almost any restaurant. I could not even eat one of the several ribs on the plate. They were very salty and not well cooked and very fatty as well. The waitress was kind enough not to charge for the rib dish, but we would not return to this restaurant.

To be honest I have had better. The service was super fast and friendly, but the food was just not for me. There was just not enough taste, the visual creativity was there but the taste wasnt. Beer selection was very limited aswell. Good area etc but probably one of the worst ones next to nose2tail.
