Summary: Affordable, multi-lingual running tour guide. Friendly and knowledgeable. Definitely give it a try. Really enjoyed Christiania Tour. Running tourism is increasing in popularity. I can definitely recommend Running Copenhagen. Danish local Lena will take you around to see the sites. This corporate consultant turned entrepreneur makes for a professional, intelligent and worldly host. She knows the history as well as the nuance of the neighborhoods. THEVIBE: Also, my impression is that her consulting background gives her a great sense of international cultural differences. She is sensitive to that with whoever she’s running with and you can tell she modifies the tour. For the solo consulting traveler from NYC, anything goes and we can run the route less traveled. If there were teenagers on the tour, I could see her modifying the route to spots of interest. MYROUTE: There are many possible routes that are posted on her website. If you want to see the more intriguing side of Copenhagen, I highly recommend the Christiania tour. Along with some of the most interesting bohemian buildings and graffiti in the city, it also sports a trip down pusher street. This one is likely less appropriate for more conservative folks from the US. However, for anyone that wants to understand the choice that Denmark took to handle drugs in their country, this is a great chance to understand a different policy approach. PACE: You should run about a 9:45 min pace, though Lena is fairly observant of huffing and puffing. I was definitely out of shape during our run and was likely closer to a 10min pace for any kind of real distances. GROUPSIZE: In the winter months, tour sizes are small. My group tour turned into a private tour which Lena honored at the price point, a real sign of business integrity. This is a young, growing business and one day, one might not be so lucky as to get a private tour for the price of a group.(in other words, try them soon). Lena, my tour guide is a pretty strong runner, so if you’re in town for business and need a fellow runner for a long run, I would send her your pace and consider her private tour or communicate with her on solutions.
