Good smooth chocolate. Wish I could sample some of their other treats like macaroons. Actually I just came to grab some chocolates as my last place to visit in Frankfurt. They have wall full of chocolate bars for five Euros with different combinations like nuts to lemon and other ingredients. The staff are friendly as can be as they said it’s no problem taking pictures as long as it’s not them. It’s a tiny shop inside the train station.

Gmeiner ist ein niedliches Geschäft mitten im Hauptbahnhof bei Glas 7. Die Süßen Pralinen-Boxen sind toll als Geschenk, alle Produkte lassen sich auch einzeln zusammenstellen. Leider war die Qualität der Macarons nicht ganz überzeugend. Sie waren etwas zäh und wohl nicht ganz taufrisch. Es gibt auch eine große Auswahl an Pralinen, Törtchen, Petit Fours und auch Lebkuchen. Der Service ist sehr nett und berät gerne.

Die macarons werden sehr «liebevoll» in eine Papiertüte verpackt. Zum Glück haben die macarons dicke trockene Haut, passiert nichts schlimmes. Außer bei einem. Der war falsch gebacken und hohl. Richtig knusprig. Wenn man beim backen nicht schafft die macarons gleich groß zu spritzen, dann muss man die normalerweise nach dem backen paarweise sortieren, beim Gmeiner nimmt man das nicht so ernst. Nur eine Sorte macarons war schön saftig trotz dicker trockener Haut. Die anderen vier waren etwas zwischen zäh und knusprig. Und so läuft der laden seit 1898? :(s.fotos
Echte macarons sind was anderes: feines Mandel gebäck mit gutem Mandel Geschmack unter einer dünnen haut drin zart cremig. Das alles hat hier gefehlt.

Wow, wow, wow! We just got off from a four hour train ride looking for our hostel, and I couldn’t ignore the huge photo of macarons.
What a pleasant surprise :)
So I turned back around and went in– and there they were!
It was a tough choice though, because everything looked great, not just the macarons.
There are also a lot of chocolate flavors which look absolutely stunning and some pastries.
There was a little line, but to be honest, I was a little skeptical, how good can a place in a central station be?
Well, very good! The macarons are bursting with flavor and not rubbery.
1.30 € a piece, not too bad!
I had the cassis and cherry and I can’t wait to try some of the others… Passion fruit, lime or peach — and there’s more to choose from
The girls at the counter were pretty nice as well and I have a good feeling that I’m gonna drop by this place at least once more before I head home to Berlin.
