Also vorab die Lokation ist typisch irisch… speckige Tische… sehr viele Stühle am Tisch… deko sehr Irish einfach super. man kommt sich vor wie in Dublin selbst. die Bedienungen reden teils English teils deutsch…
Nun zum Essen: Wir hatten 2 Crunchyburger mit Pommes. Ich sag nur GRANDIOS… Vorallem die selbstgemachten Pommes… dazu 2 Radler und the Oscar goes to… Dessert!!!

Ich hatte AppleCrumble und meine Freundin einen Warmen Schokomuffin mit Eis… der Hammer…

This pub could not be more authentic… For an Irish pub in Germany that is. Smells like an Irish pub when you walk in and has a familiar feeling right away. Love the woman we spoke with upon arriving, very friendly and outgoing, in that particular Irish way and with her lovely Irish accent. The service was fast and friendly and the food was very good, above average experience for sure.
We went for their American Thanksgiving Day buffet and it was really good. Done well and from the heart, and it showed. What a wonderful gift to be able to have a proper TDay dinner, here in Germany, in a great Irish pub.
Thank you so much to O’Kellys, for caring enough to give Irish expats a fantastic pub, when they are missing home and for caring about the American Expats who miss home too :)

Food is fabulous and staff is warm and friendly! Have been here daily while in Freiburg! Very kind to our American daughter and friends who are studying here!

Ein nettes Pub um sich am Abend auf ein Bier zu treffen wenngleich die Auswahl etwas mager ausfällt was Ale und Cider betrifft. Vom Fass gibt es leider nur die Standard Sorten Guinness stout, Kilkenny und Strongbow Cider. Und auch beim Flaschenbier kommt nicht mehr Auswahl dazu.
Das Essen fiel bei mir eindeutig durch. Ich hatte einen Burger der nicht gebraten sondern frittiert (!) war, belegt mit dem mickrigen Endstück einer Tomate, etwas coleslaw und einige lauwarme Pommes als Beilage. Vielleicht sollte erwähnt werden, dass sich erstmal nur Ketchup (oder Relish, das sich kaum von Ketchup unterschied) in meinem Burger befand und ich der Kellnerin mit meinem Teller hinterherlaufen musste um den auf der Karte angeführten «Burger Belag «zu bekommen. Gut, da ich selbst mehrere Jahre lang im Gastro Gewerbe tätig war weiß ich natürlich — Fehler passieren aber dass die Kellnerin es nicht mal für notwendig hielt sich zu entschuldigen geht wirklich garnicht.
Ich würde eventuell nochmal hin gehen um etwas zu trinken (essen werde ich allerdings woanders) obwohl die ⁰⁸⁄₁₅ Pop Musik auch nicht gerade die Atmosphäre eines Irish Pub wiederspiegelt, aber das ist wohl Geschmackssache…

So urig wie man sich einen Irish Pub vorstellt. Und man spricht English! Das trägt zum Wohlgefühl bei. Das Personal ist typisch irisch: freundlich aber nicht aufgesetzt und immer geradeheraus.
Die Whiskeyauswahl kann sich sehen lassen und es gibt neben den klassischen irischen Bieren auch dt. Bier vom Fass und verschiedene Flaschenbiere. Da sollte für jeden was dabei sein. Das Essen konnte ich heute leider nicht testen. Aber was hier aus der Küche kommt sieht verdammt lecker aus und die Kommentare von den Nachbartischen sind durchweg positiv.

I used to come here a lot, it is a nice pub in a good location. However, I will no longer be a customer here as I find the people who work there arrogant, unfriendly and impolite. I have witnessed their backstabbing behavior too many times now, they blatantly make fun of customers, they swear and curse when little children are around and some of the male employees are very, very unhygienic. It is a shame because the food looks great but their appearance does not make me want to eat there!

Küche: Super! Preis/​Leistung ist genial!!! Riesenportionen, zuerst denkt man das es teuer ist. Stellt aber sehr schnell fest das die Portion die man bekommt fast nicht zu schaffen ist ohne einen Bärenhunger.
Geschmack super und absolut zu ein muss für Freitags!
Bingo: Absooolut genial! Donnerstags zum Totlachen!
Fazit: Für mich der einzige wahre Freiburger Irish Pub!

O’Kellys is a decent Irish pub and the better of two in Freiburg. Guinness is expensive here, as it is most places, and unfortunately it’s not an amazing pint (in line with what I’ve had most places in Germany), but still decent. The food you get here is also nothing to write home about — the standard pub grub for okay prices. Service can range from fairly friendly to somewhat grumpy and inattentive depending on who’s working.
They have an open mic on Thursdays but it’s pretty weak. The people who are there are not there to listen to music, and so you have the feeling you’re just embarrassing yourself for no reason. Some people who go on play for a long time, too. If you want a good open mic, go to the Wheit Rhaebbit on Wednesday nights.
Really, probably the only reason O’Kellys is a better Irish pub than Isle of Innisfree is that it’s more of an actual Irish pub — it’s got that cozy feel and it’s full of expats. It’s not a great place for dinner and it’s not good for a date. But then again, nobody expects that from your average pub. It’s a decent Irish pub, and most of the time, I suppose it’s what you would expect when you walk into one!

I came here again recently for dinner and a few pints with a friend of mine. It was earlier in the evening, the place was mostly empty. And I realized that I do like this place. The shepherd’s pie was decent and hearty, as it should be. The pints were good, and I realize better than many other places in Germany. It’s fun to have an all-​Irish or almost all-​Irish staff that stays there, and the service was fairly friendly. The TVs were a bit too loud, I suppose. But most importantly, I keep coming back here. I like O’Kellys. So why should it only get 3 stars?

This place is hillerious!!! and has all of your expat needs covered in Frieburg and the difference with this place and other Irish bars I’ve been to around Germany… this place is actually full of expats!!! and not just germans wearing kiwi jerseys etc…

Monday night The Best Pub Quiz in Town. No, really! (their words not mine!)
O’Kellys Pub Quiz begins every MONDAY night at 21 uhr, with Neils (Ze Pilsman). Nightly prizes of a crate of beer are awarded or Shoot high for the Monatspreis! There’s so much free booze and prizes being doled out for the quiz winners that O’Kellys is considered a welfare state
Thursday: The Open Stage: Not just voices only mothers could love!
Open Stage is your chance to be almost as cool as Bono. The only difference is, Bono is in the most successful rock band of all time. O’kellys claim to offer an amazingly close second, on Thursday nights, at O’Kellys You get your chance to grab an axe and plow your way into (almost) Rock History. Go round and astound them with your tunes. Crooners, do not miss this. You provide the tunes. they provide a cold bottle of Freiburger. (YAY)
This is a lot of fun if only for the free bottle of beer you get after embarressing yourself infront of your peers and lots people you don’t know.
And as for sport they broadcast nearly everything.

Der Mittagstisch bietet zum kleinen Preis ganz schön viel. Im 5 €-Angebot ist auch ein Getränk enthalten. Freundlicher und schneller Service. Die Pommes waren allerdings verbesserungswürdig.
