The Charles Hotel

We were three adults staying for two nights, and were very pleased with our stay at The Charles Hotel. Upon check-​in, we were upgraded to a junior suite to allow us a bit more space since we had reserved a standard room for three adults (and a rollaway bed), so that was an unexpected, and very appreciated surprise!
The staff was all very friendly, and we were treated wonderfully during the entire stay. The room and bathroom were both quite spacious and very clean. And the bathtub was very large and comfortable. We all really enjoyed the robes and slippers, which were thicker and more comfortable than most of the disposable slippers you see at nice hotels.
We ordered room service both nights and were particularly impressed with the hearty portion size and delicious spaghetti bolognese, so much so that we ordered it two nights in a row. The fitness center was a good size, offering bottles of water and towels, and we enjoyed massages at the spa. Additionally, the morning breakfast buffet was quite enjoyable every morning and had a wide variety to choose from.
The hotel is in a convenient location, walking distance to many sites and public transportation. I would stay here again when returning to Munich and definitely recommend to others.

This is a lovely hotel in town. I have never stayed here but I love the ambience and the facilities of this hotel. Staff are very friendly and the service is of very high standard.
The day spa here is excellent and you can use it even though you are not staying at the hotel. You can buy a day pass just to use the spa or book a treatment and the spa use is included. Gym, pool, sauna, steam baths and many other facilities.

I can’t write anything about their rooms — but boy oh boy… Their conference service is impeccable. Very discrete and yet super attentive staff taking care of all the people at the event I attended. The food and wine served matched perfectly the service. Truly a hotel that knows how to deliver the extra little thing that differentiates a five (and a half) stars from a lowly four star.

Wie sehr habe ich auf diesen Tag gefreut — brunchen im Charles Hotel und das den ganzen Vormittag lang!
Die fünf Sterne plus sind durch den sehr zuvorkommenden Service und das vielseitige Angebot der Speisen absolut gerechtfertigt! Das Buffet hat alles was das Herz begehrt: angefangen von vitalen Brotsorten, der großen Käseauswahl bis hin zu verschiedensten Obstsorten, rückt auch das typisch bayerische Frühstück, mit Weisswurst in den Vordergrund. Durch den aktiven Service am Gast, hatte ich hier die Wahl, ein frisch zubereitetes Ei oder einen herrlich warmen Crepes direkt beim Kellner zu bestellen. Auch frisch gepresster Orangensaft und ein prickelndes Glas Prosecco fehlt hier auf keinem Tisch. Die Kundenbetreuung überzeugt schon beim Eintreten des Gastes am Empfang und zieht sich mit einer geraden und überaus freundlichen Note durchs ganze Haus. Eine perfekte Geschenkidee!

We stayed at The Charles last month for a portion of our honeymoon. The hotel’s location is outstanding, across the street from a quiet park, but only a short walk to the main train station or the center of town. Our room was fantastic: large, comfortable, and with an absolutely outstanding view of the city. The Charles provided a rare example of a hotel that’s even better in person than you’d expect from looking at the pictures online. The staff at The Charles was also outstanding, from the front desk personnel who greeted us when we came back each day to the concierge who set us up with outstanding dinners. We can’t wait to come back to The Charles again!

Gorgeous hotel within walking distance of the train station and the hop-​on/​off bus. Tons of high end shopping and places to eat. The hotel was impeccably clean and the staff was simply superb. The breakfast was also outstanding and was a buffet, which, I believe is offered to all guests. I couldn’t get a suite, as this is a «must stay» place in Munich, but the standard room was large and included a comfy couch and a writing desk plus a beautiful view of the park.
Back to the Buffet. It was awesome — worth staying here just for the breakfast. About ten kinds of cereal, every type of egg you could imagine, including soft boiled, which we don’t see much in the States, but which is a staple here. And the meats! My God, it was coronary nirvana, coupled with the massive cheese assortment and fresh bread of every type and style plus fruits, desserts, smoothies and BACON, it was just too bigga eat!
The room we had was on the 6^th floor and was decked out in post-​war über-​modern furnishings. Bathroom was huge and had a tub plus a shower and water pressure that could flay the paint off of a house. Coffee service, a giant safe, super comfy feather pillows with the European-​style comforters that I love made this place first rate.
One minor problem was a recommendation the concierge made for a private guide for Dachau. The fellow, named Eytan, totally ripped us off, charging € 350 for what amounted to a long taxi ride and a 90 minute lecture in which he berated us for being ignorant Americans and chastising us for asking «too many questions». He was with MGV, BTW, so stay away from these guys. I am sure something kicked back to the concierge, but shame on them for recommending such a rip-​off gig. On the other hand, hey, it’s a vacation, and I am a guest in this country so ya gotta expect some rain with the sunshine. Outside of that, a delightful stay in a wonderful and well appointed hotel.

Best hotel in Munich by far… quiet, great service, feels like home! Breakfast is awesome… on the weekend buffet open til 2 pm… staff are exceptional an remember you from previous visits!

Tolle Lage direkt am Hbf, trotzdem ein kleiner Grünstreifen vor der Tür. Imposantes Gebäude. Das beste an dem eintägigen Aufenthalt war das Frühstücksbuffet, welches ich in jener Perfektion in Deutschland noch nicht erlebt hatte.
Die Zimmer sind geschmackvoll und luxuriös, allerdings auch nichts besonderes für ein 5*-Hotel. Wirklich erschreckt hat mich die Unflexibilität der Angestellten, die überfordert waren, dass ich eine halbe Stunde eher als abgemacht einchecken wollte.
So musste ich tatsächlich eine halbe Stunde in der Lobby ausharren. Sowas darf einem (selbsternannten) Luxushotel nicht passieren.

Das The Charles ist super gelegen: nur einen Steinwurf vom Hauptbahnhof entfernt und in 10 Minuten ist man direkt in der Münchener City.
Die Mitarbeiter sind sehr freundlich. Angefangen vom Doorman bis hin zum Housekeeping grüßen alle sehr freundlich und sind jederzeit behilflich. Die Concierges geben wirklich alles, um die Wünsche des Gastes zu erfüllen.
Die Zimmer sind modern eingerichtet und lassen keine Wünsche offen. Bequeme Betten, ausreichend Stauraum, ein tolles Bad, Kaffeemaschine gibt es auf Wunsch aufs Zimmer. Was wir allerdings als sehr störend empfunden haben, waren Flecken undefinierbarer Herkunft auf dem Sofa und auf den Sesseln. Das war schon fast eklig, sich da rauf zu setzen.
Frühstücksbuffet ist reichhaltig mit regionalen und internationalen Spezialitäten. Es gibt noch eine extra Frühstückskarte, die wir aber immer nur nach Nachfrage bekamen. Aber auch das Personal beim Frühstück und auch abends im Restaurantbetrieb sind sehr freundlich und «auf Zack».
Wir haben uns im The Charles sehr wohl gefühlt und würden es auch immer wieder buchen, wenn denn auch die Flecken auf den Polstermöbeln verschwunden sind, denn das darf in einem Haus dieser Kategorie definitv NIE vorkommen.

This hotel is about quality up and down the line. The staff is outstanding: polite, genuinely friendly, very professional. This is a place for people who want quality and class without glitz.
The rooms are large by European standards, very quiet, and well appointed. The floors and walls are very solid. You never hear the neighbors or the television through the walls. Even the windows are soundproofed, so even a room right over the street is very quiet.
My only complaints, such as they are: the beds could be a bit softer, they are a bit stiff; and the toilet paper has the texture, thickness of paper towels in the US. (Admittedly the latter seems to be a German thing, as it’s basically the same everywhere. At least it’s better than the waxy thin tissue in public restrooms in the US. TMI?)

Fünf Sterne hat dieses Haus nicht verdient.
Das Essen im angeschlossenen Restaurant war katastrophal.
In unserem Zimmer war der Duschthermotat defekt. Und trotz Hinweis war das Hotel nicht in der Lage eine Lösung zu finden.
Der Concierge ist nicht in der Lage eine Sitzplatzreservierung für einen Lufthansa Flug vorzunehmen.
Fazit: trotz dem Angebot es Hotels kommen wir nicht wieder, wenn es sich vermeiden lässt.

Sehr gutes Hotel, aber für Roccoforte eher eines der schlechteren.

Das Hotel gehört zur absoluten Luxus Kategorie. Das Essen und Service sind entsprechend hoch angesetzt. Da ich nur zu einer Abendveranstaltung eingeladen war, kann ich leider nichts zu den Zimmern sagen.

Ein sehr gehobenes Hotel mit schönem Ambiente und einladendem Restaurant.
Die Zimmer habe ich nicht gesehen, aber das Essen ist vorzüglich und die Bedienung ist auch sehr aufmerksam.

Eines meines Lieblingshotels in München. Dezent eingerichtet. Sehr zuvorkommendes Personal. Die Lage ist eigentlich nicht perfekt aber man kommt fussläufig in die attraktiveren Gegenden von München. Insgesamt in jedem Fall eine Empfehlung.

HEATED FLOORS. awesome! The tiles in the bathroom are heated. so thoughtful, right? There is also both a shower and a bath.
Great location — two blocks away from the hauptbahnhof and within walking distance to the heart of altstadt. Courteous staff and helpful concierge (if clubbing is your thing, they have passes). They are very prompt with the shoe shining as well. We were too busy romping around the city, so didn’t get a chance to make it to the spa, which is supposed to be quite nice.
Also, I was stupid enough to leave my flat keys at the hotel, and they were very helpful in having it couriered to Frankfurt immediately.
Oddly, they have more Arabic TV channels than even German ones. And they do room cleaning at night, I believe between 7 – 10 pm.
One major downside: no wifi and I believe you have to pay for the wired connection.
But aside from that, great place to stay. And seriously. you’ll love the heated floors.

I wish there were a six — star rating for this hotel.
I arrived with a group of around 15 people and, within 10 minutes, we all had room keys and were told not to worry one more minute about luggage as it would be delivered to us.
I promptly went upstairs to look at the room.
Amazing amenities. «Ren» bio cosmetic products, warmed marble bathroom tiles, speakers within the bathrooms to hear your news channel or whatever you’re watching. Full-​sized tubs for soaking, huge beds and a wonderful sauna/​steambath/​pool/​fitness area under the lobby. Immaculate cleanliness and an impeccable restaurant. Staff are more than courteous and answer your calls by name — all my queries have been rested within 5 minutes of calling.
I truly feel that I am the ONLY guest in this hotel and that is a mark of stunning service.
One more little side-​story.
I wanted to iron some clothing and was told by the concierge that there were no personal irons in the hotel. So, his solution was for me to send down my ironing and it would be done for me at no charge.
Welcome to Munich, indeed.
I almost don’t want to leave.
One down-​side — no free wi-​fi. However, this is due to the hotel’s location and the fact that they cannot pull wireless connection from other buildings without a host. So, it’s not really their fault. Just prepare for a 20Euro fee per day or 100Euro per week charge for internet.

Das Charles Hotel ist absoluter Luxus. Ein wirklich gelungenes elegantes Hotel mitten in München. Hier hat man einen schönen Ausblick über München und im Hintergrund die Berge. Wenn ihr euch in dem Hotel einbucht, dann ganz oben. Wirklich toll.
Am schönsten finde ich den Spa Bereich. Hier heißt es entspannen in einer tollen Atmosphäre. Im 15m langen Pool könnt ihr schwimmen oder euch einfach reiben lassen. Die Relaxzonen sind ein Traum. Zusätzlich stehen Saunen und ein Dampfbad zur Verfügung. Man kann hier auch tolle Arrangements buchen mit Anwendungen oder Maniküre.
Das Fitnessstudio kann für Hotelgäste auch genutzt werden. Hier findet man die neusten Geräte vor und kann in einer angenehmen Umgebung trainieren, bevor es wieder in das gute Restaurant geht und all das wieder angefuttert wird, was ihr gerade abtrainiert habt. ;-)

Vor Kurzem genehmigten ich und meine Begleitung uns einen kleinen After-​Work Snack im Restaurant Davvero des Charles Hotels. Die Speisekarte klang zwar lecker, aber leider fand ich nichts, was meinen Appetit gestillt hätte. So fragten wir, ob die Küche uns einfach einen kleinen Antipasti-​Teller zusammenstellen könnte und die äusserst freundliche und professionelle Bedienung leitete unseren Wunsch gerne weiter.
Kurz darauf brachte sie uns eine äusserst appetitanregende Kreation (Büffelmozzarella, Oliven, eingelegte Auberginen, geräucherter Schinken, marinierte Karotten– und Pastinakensticks, flambierte Lauchzwiebeln, frische Feigenschnitze etc.) mit verschiedenen hausgemachten Brötchen: ein Traum!
Klar, dass es auch seinen Preis hatte, aber wir bezahlten ihn gerne :-)
Vielleicht vergebe ich den fünften Stern bei einem weiteren Besuch…

Der Spa und Wellnessbereich im Charles Hotel hat einen schönen kleinen Pool mit Mosaiken, einen Ruheraum mit Bergkristallwasser und Tee, eine kleine Sauna und ein kleines türkisches Bad. Darüber hinaus gibt es Wellness und Beautyanwendungen. Bademantel, Handtücher etc. werden zur Verfügung gestellt. Da der Bereich sehr überschaubar ist und die Anwendungen verhälnismässig teuer sind nur 3 Sterne.
