Mezcal²

When we stopped by sometime in June we’d noticed that they had been closed and the website said the they didn’t have a estimation of opening again but when I called last week I was surprised and excited to hear they were open again.
The menu was shortened even more than before. The waitress said that they were trying to freshen up the menu every week. We thought it was odd because the only options to ask for was from 4 different tostadas 1 of picadillo (ground beef), 2 different moles and then 1 of guacamole. There really no appetizers to order from but we still ordered anyhow. The prices went up and I’m not sure why if you don’t even get rice or bean for the 8 euro plate. My son had the picadillo tostadas and the potatoes weren’t even cooked all the way and didn’t have any flavor. My husband and I got the mole tostadas and they weren’t like before. We asked for the salsa they used to bring and the chile peppers they use to serve and the waitress brought us hot sauce bottles. At the end of our meal we realized they weren’t the same owners as before and explained why we were so disappointed in our meals. They should’ve been upfront and said they weren’t the same owners instead of making us think that they were trying something new with the restaurant. Needless to say we are never going back there again.

Ich bin immer auf der Suche nach einem guten Mexikaner. Wenn mir dann als Empfehlung für Stuttgart eine der durchschnittlichen Ketten genannt wird, bin ich immer etwas deprimiert. Deswegen konnte ich es kaum erwarten das Mezcal auszuprobieren, als ich davon hörte. Enttäuscht hat der Laden nicht, aber als wir dort waren, war die Essenskarte noch nicht ausgebaut (das haben sie inzwischen überarbeitet).
Die Drinks waren wirklich lecker, aber für das kleine Glas werden durchaus stolze Preise aufgerufen.
Auch das Essen, das wir probiert haben war klein aber fein. Sehr lecker, aber die kleinen Snacks waren kein Ersatz für ein komplettes Abendessen.
Die Dekoration im Laden ist sehr individuell. Ich freue mich schon drauf, das Mezcal wieder zu besuchen und in der einzigartigen Atmosphäre die neuen Gerichte zu testen.

I really loved this place. They have a nice deco, the service is amazing and the food is just delicious. I can’t complain, it was a perfect date. I have to taste more dishes, then they will get my fifth star :)

Excellent food and killer margaritas! We had the enchiladas rojos, chicken enchiladas topped with a light red sauce… Very good, not too filling. The al pastor tacos are full of flavor with some heat, but the pineapple mellows them… These tacos were definitely our favorite! We’ll be back for ritas and tacos!

The food is excellent and high quality. The cocktails are authentic using top end mezcal. The staff is friendly and helpful.
