Superb dinner! The dining area is quaint and cozy and the food is outstanding. This was one of our last meals in Germany after four years and we were all very pleased with our experience. The roast was cooked to perfection and the plum brandy is a great closer with the story by the owner.

This is a excellent restaurant! The food is always amazing and the service is prompt. Do not shot the plumb brandy, as you will be banned for life…

It wasn’t very busy either of the times I visited the restaurant at the A.C. Hotel Hoferer, which might be good since the kitchen appears to be tiny. Despite it’s diminutive size though, they put out some good swabian food. The menu isn’t terribly long, but they do have a decent list of daily specials, which we had success with. While they have copies of the menu itself in english, the daily specials will be verbally translated, not written down. The server’s english on both visits was perfectly good, which is good since my German is extremely limited(schnitzel, brautwurst, currywurst, hefeweizen, and pils are about it). As far as food goes, the smoked salmon entrée was a generous portion of smoked salmon, and the warm potato hash brown underneath it made it heartier than just a plate of smoked salmon. It seems like maultaschen is the best way to judge a swabian restaurant, so I went with that and was quite happy with it, although my favorite that I’ve had so far was at Gaststatte zum Paulaner in downtown. I also really appreciate that most of the meals here come with a side salad, and they dress it more with vinegar than with oil, so it feels more refreshing than most side salads in the US. The complementary plum brandy is a nice way to end the meal; whatever you do, don’t shoot it(that would be rude), just sip and enjoy!

Amazing food, customer service and brandy. I was lucky enough to visit while the white asparagus was in season. The staff is incredibly friendly and was able to explain the menu in English. At the end of the meal they offer you a glass of locally made plum brandy… sip only or you will insult the owners.

What a great place. Very excellent food, and service. Just like you are invited into the proprietor home. Had the special and the pork was excellent and the ratatouille good as well. Not large but well worth the walk from the si.

This restaurant is just a short walk from the SI Millennium complex and is vastly superior to anything you will find there. Like home run, victory lap, touchdown, hole-in-one superior. The food and service are fantastic and for us, Americans, there is an English language menu and a wonderful waitress who speaks the language fluently. Be sure to try the chef’s onion soup special — it’s like the better looking cousin of French Onion soup, the idea is the same, but the execution and taste are slightly different and definitely delicious. Additionally, the maultaschen(think ravioli with meat) on a bed of perfectly sauteed spinach and topped with a fried egg is a real treat. The chef’s special salad, fresh greens and peppers topped with fried«potato pouches» stuffed with goat’s cheese is a refreshing dish, in contrast with the usually heavy German cuisine. Make sure you save room for both dessert, the fried apples with ice cream are a must, and of course, the(in)famous plum brandy, which will set your throat on fire! But, any restaurant that offers free schnapps post-diner gets 5 stars in my book.

This review is for the restaurant at this hotel only. The AC Hotel restaurant is great. I have been here for dinner with coworkers on two occasions and have had a great meal with great service both times. The best thing about this place is the owner. His name escapes me at the moment, but he speaks good English and is very welcoming. He has a lot of great stories about the origins of the food on the menu, and offers each guest a small glass of plum brandy after each meal. He will warn you, though, you must sip and enjoy the brandy. If you shoot it, he will never allow you to have it again. The food is wonderful. I had pork once and maultaschen once. Both were excellent, the best German meals I had in Germany. I had my best beers in Germany at this restaurant while enjoying the company of some very good friends. They’re happy to let you hang out and enjoy the night for as long as you want. The house beer is Schonbuch Brau, and it is easily the best pils I had during the 4 months I had the pleasure of living in Stuttgart. I like it so much I asked if I could buy the logo glass I had been drinking from. The owner simply wrapped it up and gave it to me. That’s Germany for you, just awesome, happy, friendly people who love what they do. Excellent food, fantastic service, this place is well deserving of 5 stars. Can’t wait to go back.
