I came here with a friend during a quick tour of Helsinki. We were greeted by the really friendly owner, who told us of the lunch specials. We each had the salmon fillet with cauliflower purée and a salad from the salad & bread bar. It was quite honestly the best salmon fillet I have ever had! It was baked in butter with a sprinkling of sea salt: melt in your mouth amazing. The purée was the perfect accompaniment. The setting was really nice as well, with a patio opening up to the park and a modern interior. P. S. I highly recommend the hummus spread from the bread bar. Delicious!

I really wanted to love Fanny. As a native San Franciscan, brunch is my «thing». That’s what we do in SF: we brunch. Then we brunch some more. We drink bottomless mimosas and eggs all day and then continue to drink more. This is a Sunday tradition where I hail from. Wake up with hangover, cab it to your favorite bottomless mimosa and brunch joint, throw down $ 20 total, and drink until you wish tomorrow was Sunday and that you had some semblance of will power. Rant aside, Fanny is not at fault for my propensity toward alcoholism or the fact that no matter how much money I make, I will never be able to comfortably get as drunk as I’d like during the day(or night) here in Helsinki. I’m still just shocked I have a place to live, with the price of drinks here, and the rate at which I consume them(thank you, boyfriend). The upside: Fanny is a warm and cozy glass-enclosed reprieve from the Autumn chill in Koff park. There is a warm and upbeat spirit to go along with your 20 euro champagne brunch, served buffet style, and including just one very small glass of champagne. Is it worth the 4 euro upgrade from the 16 euro regular brunch? Yes. Is it a deal to end all deals? Umm… not so much. The variety of food is HUGE. For a metropolitan-area American native(San Franciscosa), unfamiliar with such indulgences as the buffet meal, I found the array of yogurt, cereals, salads, meats, cheeses, eggs, and even a lunch option that we were unable to identify, to be really impressive. If you eat a lot, this could be your place. Please note: their sauteed mushrooms are out of this world. Eat as many as you can. Then eat some more. The downside: 20 euros for someone like me, who is known to pick at food like a bird, is a little much, especially when that 20 euros doesn’t include more than a thimble full of champagne. It can get very busy here on the weekends and the communal tables, while cute if the children squeezed next to you are well-behaved, can make navigating the café a bit of a struggle. All in all, I really like Fanny. Just not 20 euros worth. I think I’ll stick to Primula for brunch, where I can pass on the food and just drink heavily.

If you are into light, fresh and healthy dishes and like to enjoy that in an airy and bright ambience Fanny might be the right place for you. The glass pavilion in Sinebrychoff park offers breakfast, lunch, dinner and on the weekend also nice brunch for its customers. The prices are average for the center of Helsinki. Especially for vegetarians Fanny has a lot to offer. No matter at what time of the day you will always find a salad bar with a wide selection of vegetables, fruit, nuts and everything else you desire. But Fanny also has something to offer for fish and meat lovers. Check out their website to see their menu. You can find the daily lunch offers on their Facebook page.
