One of the best boat trips I have taken in my life and the best in three weeks travelling Finland. The route between Tampere and Hämeenlinna is called «silver line» and many times on board I thought to myself that «golden line» would be more suitable to praise its awesomeness. I just got overwhelmed by Finland´s natural beauties: o)!
The booking is totally hasslefree. Just send a mail to
and print out the confirmation. Even without print-​out, I got onboard since they had me on their list. The first part of the journey started at 9.30 am from the small harbour of Tampere and was the most scenic one. You should get some really good sun protection to enjoy many hours on the sundeck which is not shaded. Staying inside the boat most of the time would take away all the fun. But you should book the lunch buffet … so yummy … the fish, the small yellow Finnish potatoes, the noodle and shrimp salad, the blueberry cake … so yummy yummy and cheaper than lunch at a restaurant.
Four and a half hours later, the Silver Star reached Visavuori, a small place that used to be an artists´ colony turned into a museum. You will have enough time to visit this place if you like or to sit down in the shade to relax before the second boat will leave for Hämeenlinna at 3.15 pm. Three and a half hours of pure fun laid ahead of us on board the Silver Moon. Lots of Finns were driving their motorboats or were jet-​skiing, having a swim or enjoying that sunny day on their own boat pier in front of their holiday cottages we could see while passing by.
Hämeenlinna bus station is just 10 minutes away from the harbour. There you can hop on a bus that will take you back to Tampere within one hour. Since there are no views to enjoy along the way, you can close your eyes and see the water glittering in the sun and Finland´s gorgeous archipelago scenery again: o)!
