Savoyarde cuisine is excellent in small doses. But, you can only eat cheese, butter, bacon, baguettes, and cream for so long before you just gotta make a new plan. And finding a restaurant in Chamonix that offers something else is hard, especially without getting fussy and upscale. La Petite Kitchen is really good, emphasizing locavore eating and vegetables, and offering tasty, substantial, modernized, Brit-style breakfasts when you just can’t face another pain au chocolate.

Had a fantastic breakfast of natural yogurt and berries, real OJ and my husband had poached eggs on fritters. Coffee was decent though all of Cham use long life milk so will never be great. One Waitress taking orders, making drinks, clearing and serving so service is slow but she was doing a solid job given the crowd.

There is a different menu and atmosphere from brunch to dinner. I recommend both. Lunch is very casual and dinner is more upscale with a lovely menu and more complex flavours. I recommend making reservations as the place is small(hence the name) and is always a popular place.

We went here for breakfast one morning. It was traditional british eggs, beans, sausage, bacon(ham), mushrooms, grilled tomato and toast. The meal was prepared very well but was fairly unexciting. We were not inspired to go back for dinner… especially with so much local and excellent french food around. With only a handful of local brits in the restaurant; it was by no means busy. We were seated right away and the service was good.

Good place for breakfast –all-inclusive eggs, toast, and local tomatoes, beans, etc with fresh squeezed juice and coffee for € 14. decent value for Cham. You can sit outside in the summer, and have a really great café and breakfast. It is mostly a local crowd. One drawback is attitude of some of the staff — it’s 50 – 50 if you get someone nice and friendly or someone who has a bad attitude and offers service with a chio on her shoulder.

This restaurant was one of the best meals in Chamonix. Happy that we came across it as most of the French dining had really been subpar. This place sure does get busy especially with the local crowd. They are more than happy to turn you away. Was I touristy looking? We were told a half hour wait or longer and we just asked to wait at the bar. No problem and she ushered us over. We were about to order a drink and then somehow were seated in five minutes. And that’s when the standoffishness ended. Service was attentive and friendly. Sat down and, shockingly while in France, went with a bottle of Malbec which was as inexpensive and delicious as the French wine. We were thrilled to read on the menu that they use fresh, local & seasonal fare as much as possible. We started off our meal with salad, roasted figs and fresh goat cheese. Great variety of artisanal bread options. Main entrée selected was the root vegetable gnocchi as I am such a sucker for veggies and gnocchi. It was everything I thought it would be and more. The sauce may have been a bit rich for me but otherwise very good. The other entrée was a pork dish featuring a chop, slow cooked belly and crispy cheeks. The slow cooked belly was the tastiest. Skipped dessert for some chocolates and espresso elsewhere on the town. I definitely recommend trying this place out for dinner or even lunch.(The lunch menu had a bunch of appealing options.)

This is a small hole in the wall restaurant, near the main shuttle bus stop round about. We made reservations for four at La Petite Kitchen based upon advise from Trip Adviser. All items on the menu are very fresh and are made by a small kitchen staff. The food was good, a little pricey. Service was good but a little overworked since it is a busy place. The restaurant was very busy for the Wednesday night we ate here, nearly every table was full for every time slot. Yet many other restaurants in Cham were not busy. So La Petite is a very popular but small restaurant. If you are interested in coming to La Petite, please be sure you make reservations early in the evening as popular items on the menu sell out quickly. If you want to eat at a non-touristy real French Restaurant in Chamonix, I would recommend La Petite. Just be cautioned, you will not get hugh portions of cheese, dries meat and potato that Savoy specialty restaurants in Cham may provide. But what you do get is very fresh and very tasty.

This place was a lifesaver; I arrived in Chamonix around lunchtime and was famished. They have a good vegetarian menu but not much for vegans. The server was very accommodating however — a rarity in France — and I had the summer roasted veggies on a baguette with a salad for 6EUR. It was excellent. I would definitely eat there again but it would be nice if they expanded their vegetarian menu to include more 100% vegan options.
