Kaffee Berlin

Love the beer selection especially the weiss bier and the food is good too. Staff are always very friendly. Nice idea with the menu cards imprinted on vinyl records.

Love the bagels and the interior of the place! The service was friendly as well and Although we were with a large Group we didn’t have to wait long at all.

No German beers on tap in a German bar? What? The bottle wasn’t cold enough either. Pfft. Boo.

The waitress was super awesome and the cheesecake with speculoos was quite tasty. Those are the only reasons this place is getting a second star.
I ordered the Claude Madame bagel, which had chevre, honey, arugula, tomato confit, and fresh tomatoes on it. All of that stuff I just listed was tasty but the bread they served it on was certainly not a bagel. It was bagel-​shaped, sure. But it was not dense, chewy, or doughy on the inside like a bagel should be. It was too bready — more like a hamburger bun with a hole in the middle than a bagel. If you have to visit Kaffee Berlin to eat, I suggest the Claude Madame salad, which is the exact same dish sans bagel-​shaped piece of bread.
Their beer selection isn’t that great either. A lot of their German beers are Franziskaner, which my German husband refers to as «the Budweiser of German beers». I had the Spezial Tap 6, which was okay but not great. Berlin is full of amazing beers! I don’t understand why this place couldn’t have a better selection.
Too bad! I had high hopes.
I’m editing my review because I forgot to mention the potato wedges, which were very tasty. Unfortunately, however, the mayonnaise at the table was not the good, light, German mayonnaise usually handed out to slather on fries. It was regular Heinz mayonnaise in a squeeze packet.
