We are visitors from Texas, USA. We found Les Bouchons Lyonnais while we were visiting the Lyon old town. This was easily one of the best meals we had on our trip. The waitstaff were very nice and very helpful. My French is not good but the waiter explained everything to us very patiently in English. I started with the foie gras which was served with toasted brioche. Full of flavor! For my main course I had a little filet de boeuf with peppercorn sauce and some potatoes au gratin. Everything was cooked to perfection and bursting with taste! Other dining companions had local fish fried in butter sauce and chicken with a mushroom cream sauce. Everything was simply lovely. For dessert I had some local cheese and my uncle had the crème brûlée. Also amazing. If I come back to Lyon, I will definitely return here. Thank you!

No joke, but this hole in the wall bouchon was one of the best meals I’ve had in France thus far. My AirBnb host told me about this neighborhood joint where the staff speaks no English what-so-ever and gets pretty much zero tourists… I said«PERFECT!» I stopped in around 8PM and was greeted promptly. Mind you, my French is pretty poor, but just good enough to order and whatnot. It’s located within a block of the metro station. And no, it is not a pretty neighborhood especially at night.(It’s not dangerous by any means, just nothing to see) I elected to go with a 2-course meal which was around the 15E mark. I also got a 2E glass of chardonnay — it was just average wine… but i’m not complaining at this price. Each customer that night received a free«amuse bouche» which I believe was made of a tomato and pumpkin purée with crème fraîche atop. It was very tasty. My appetizer was a simple smoked salmon with dill cream. It was VERY tasty… and the chef even bothered to come by to ask me how I liked the dish. My limited French could only express that I really liked it. And then came the duck confit dish, which I cannot remember. It was perfectly cooked down with its fat and potatoes mixed in. It was just very, very tender and delicious. Upon finishing my meal, I conversed(poorly) with the head waitress and tried to explain how much I enjoyed my meal in Lyon. It’s way out of the way in the 9th district of Lyon, but if you’re in the area, I very much recommend this place.
