Parking Gambetta

Once you have used this parking garage once or twice, it's OK, but the first time is not good. This is downtown Marseille, so streets are blocked, trucks and cars and vehicles of all sorts block the signs and entrances, and the garage itself seems to perpetually have spots blocked off for no reason. I reserve ahead of time for taking the train, and the system of recognizing your license plate works well, and when I've had problems, the call button works. There are in fact two entrances facing opposite directions, and sometimes one is closed and you have to drive around to the other. Typical random Marseille aggravation, with no rhyme or reason. If you like an orderly experience, visit another city.

Not sure I’ve ever reviewed a parking garage before! But this felt like a compelling case.
The location is good. Right in the middle of the shopping district. But finding the entrance to the garage took us through a labyrinth of daredevil maneuvers (literally in circles!) around delivery trucks and five way intersections until the GPS told us to make a hard left JUST at the point we needed to take a down ramp off to the RIGHT (behind a delivery truck) into the core of the earth. Also confusing was the lack of a place to prepay before getting in your car to leave. (There may be a machine someplace, but we couldn’t find it!) The exit gate DOES take credit cards, but these machines frequently don’t accept foreign credit cards. Had I not had a French «CB» card, we might still be in there!
All a good argument for taking the metro instead!
