We, too, were led to this restaurant by The Paris Kitchen. Eager to try on an upcoming visit to Paris, my husband called ten days in advance and reserved for four on «dimanche le 21 juin.» He gave his name as «John» and asked for 7:30. After the phone conversation, he worried that the person who answered the phone did not ask for his last name nor his email address. Therefore, once we arrived in Paris, two days ahead of our reservation, he asked our son to call to double-check our Sunday reservation and also to change the reservation to 8:00 pm if possible. Our son did so in French in our presence. Again, after the call, we wondered why no request for a last name, a phone number, etc., but assumed that if the person who answered the phone had needed it, he would have asked. When we arrived Sunday night at 8:00, we were told that our reservation had been for the night before. When we protested, the chef came out scowling.(He apparently takes reservations.) My husband tried to explain that we had called not once but twice, and in response, the chef snapped that he didn’t understand English. Fair enough, so the three French speakers in our party translated and explained about both our calls. The chef pointed to his book, saying he had a reservation for 7:30 for Saturday and he couldn’t possibly make a mistake twice. His tone and manner were very rude, as if to imply that we were making up what had happened. Then he said he had no table for us, announced«C’est termine!» and turned on his heels.(Of course he could have made two mistakes — one in originally writing down the reservation on the wrong date and then not even bothering to check when the confirming call was made.) Perhaps he could not give us a table last night, but there was no reason at all for such extreme rudeness. Bottom line is be forewarned: maybe you will have a wonderful meal. But care is not taken to record and confirm your reservation and you may instead find yourself not only hungry and thirsty in a neighborhood that does not have much alternate fine dining(especially on a Sunday), but also insulted and mistreated to boot. I don’t think it’s worth taking the chance.

A phenomenal meal by Chef Christophe Philippe. We were recommended to this restaurant by «The Paris Kitchen»(Wendy Lyn), and were not disappointed. The service was incredible. The food even more so. We started with the foie gras and escargot. Both entrées were outstanding. For the main course, we had the canard and the veal sweetbreads. Both left us wanting more. The flavors, crispiness and seasoning were amazing. The portions were perfect. We decided to split the chocolate mousse which was dense and decadent. Not too sweet, just perfect. We had the opportunity to thank Chef Christophe Philippe personally. He is a very gracious and kind and will go out of his way to accommodate. Thank you for an incredible dining experience during our Paris vacation.
