Pros: The hotel looks beautiful, truly befitting Paris and appealing to art lovers. The sitting/breakfast area just off the lobby was very comfortable too with complimentary espresso and fruit juice in the afternoon. Wireless internet seemed to function just fine throughout the property. Cons: The staff told me that they lock the front door for security reasons at 10pm. Guests are expected to ring a bell. We stayed out late till midnight, but were never locked out. Smallish room. Air conditioning not cool enough. Location: Very close to the Louvre, two metro stops, cafes, bakeries(Paul, Pierre Herme), at least three ATM’s, pharmacy, tourist office, bicycle rental racks(need credit card with chip) and a Monoprix. The Lourve has its own underground mall too. Google it! We had a great experience at this«boutique» like hotel. The recent makeover has been tastefully done with new furniture, fixtures, and finishes true to Paris culture. The staff was both friendly and professional. The front desk staff speak English very well and seemed very accustomed to dealing with Americans. Though boutique-like, it seemed to run with the efficiency one might expect of an international chain. The room itself is smaller than the average American hotel room, but big by Paris standards. Closet space was small and drawer space smaller. We had a hard time finding space to stash our suitcases. There is a modern kitchen with new appliances like microwave, refrigerator, dishwasher and induction cooktop with exhaust fan. There were pots, pans, plates, and utensils. We didn’t cook, but having a refrigerator, plates and silverware did come in handy. The Nespresso machine was a nice touch, which I did use daily(staff cleaned out the used capsules and replenished with new ones). Citadines also provided complimentary bottled water daily as well. Bathroom is average sized and clean, complete with L’Occitane shower/bath products and a towel warmer rack. Counter space is almost nonexistent however, with just enough space for our toothbrush and glass. Even though I set the thermostat as low as possible, it never felt cooler than 75 degrees F, unless I sat directly in front of the A/C «draft». Air conditioning can’t be taken for granted in Europe. There were plenty of electrical outlets(bring adapters) for our huge electronics package(camera, laptop, phones, and pad). Operable windows were double paned and shut out a LOT of noise. There were shears and blackout curtains. Our stay was quiet. There was a family with small children on our floor, but I could only hear them while in the hallway. My only issue was initially there was no safe, but the staff quickly addressed that by installing a drawer safe complete with hidden security cable in about 20 minutes. It was a really tight fit for my 13″ MacBook Pro. Other quirks were our dead bolt did not function. I had the maintenance people check, but they said all the locks were this way. I found that very odd and added that to the customer survey later. Also, the motion sensor lights in the hallway would time out in about 10 seconds. Way too short. At night, they were set differently, but still… Despite the room size and storage issues and hot A/C, we still really enjoyed our stay, and I give it five stars. The price we paid seemed fair considering the location, staff professionalism and beauty of the property. My philosophy is why ruin your stay in a place like Paris with a substandard hotel room?
