Franchement nul ! C’est peut être mieux en bas ?

My wife, daughter and I walked in for an early dinner at 7:30 pm and were greeted by a very friendly, helpful and english speaking maitre’d. We were seated at our request outdoors on this cool evening, but in complete comfort below a heating element and blankets provided by the restaurant. The setting is set back off the street in a charming area providing a nice quiet area to enjoy dinner. Shortly after sitting the restaurant began to fill but the waiter remained attentive and friendly. The food was very good, served exactly as ordered and we enjoyed a wonderful evening sharing a bottle of wine and or stories from the day. Don’t forget to end with crème brûlée for desert! I give it high marks.

Where do I begin?! This is the quintessential Parisian bistro. My boyfriend and I went for our anniversary and I wanted a romantic spot off the beaten path and this was just the ticket! Blankets at each table outside with heat lamps, charming décor, kind waiters, and a quiet romantic atmosphere. The food was fantastic too! We tried the burrata salad, escargot, steak frites, pasta and finished with the cheese assortment. By far my favorite dining experience this vacation, we will be back!

We dine at Bistro St. Dominique each time we visit Paris. In particular, we find the entrecôte grillée with frites, and the salmon to be fantastic. The atmosphere and staff are equally welcoming. We plan to continue visiting this restaurant with each visit to this beautiful city!

Came on a Sunday late afternoon and the waiter was very accommodating including turning on the outside heaters just for us. starter –toasted cheese, creamy on the inside and drizzled with honey. Verrry yummy Plat –risotto style pasta with ham ands chicken burger(hard to find chicken breast in Paris) that came with oh so good fries. Both were very delicious! The steaming pasta so creamy but not overwhelming and the bread on the burger so tasty by itself. Highly recommend both dishes. Dessert –chocolate cake with hazelnut ice cream was a wonderful finish to a great meal!

I’m giving 3 stars because the food was delicious. I had the cod and my boyfriend had the filet, nothing to dislike. However, the service was poor. I felt the waiter looked at us like those«silly Americans«. No wifi in this day and age is ridiculous.

This was our first«Parisian» experience. My family(wife, 11-year old son and 15-year old daughter) caught a cab from the Eiffel Tower. We were about 15 minutes late for our 7PM reservation(Wed night) but were welcomed with a smile to this warm and cozy place. We all ordered from the«set» menu, and prepared ourself for a relaxed night of dining. We ordered various appetizers, and our entrees included skirt steak and duck confit. We finished with a crumble, chocolate mousse, sorbet, and crème brûlée. It was all really, REALLY good, and what’s more the staff was very attentive(without being intrusive). We relaxed and ate a a REALLY good meal that was hearty(we were there in March), and enjoyed an evening accompanied by local diners. After and hour and 45 minutes we walked out content and happy. Highly recommended for anyone wanting an introduction to Parisian dining. Kids(maybe over 8) too!

I am used to service that is slower than that in the States, but this was unacceptable. The food was ok, but not worth the three hours(seriously) it took to get our food and pay the bill.

We had lunch here on our third day in Paris and were very pleased. We had the Prix Fixe menu, which came out to be below $ 20 euros per person. At that price, and with the quality of the food, we thought it was a steal! We had: –Tomatoes salad(Score: B+) came with arugula and cheese and basil infused oil as salad dressing. Overall, a refreshing dish. We got tomatoes in October, so they were out if season and not as sweet as they would be in season. –Rocket salad(Score: A) came with arugula and prosciutto. The dish had a nice balance if saltiness and savory. –Skirt Steak(B) was not cut thin enough and sauce was not tangy or flavorful. Bland dish. The fries were very good though. –Trout with almond(A) was very executed. The trout came as a whole, but there was minimal work involved in getting the meat from the fish. The meat came off the bone easily. The meat was soft. The almond was crunchy and provided a great balance to the dish. The potatoe was buttery. Very good dish. –Crème brûlée(A) was prepared perfectly.

We enjoyed a very nice dinner here this evening. The restaurant is not overly large, loud or crowded, and we were fortunately able to get seated right away, after first trying La Fontaine de Mars across the courtyard(and were told to come back 2HOURS later — note to self, plan ahead for Sundays, as NOTHING is open in Paris!). They have a prix fixe menu for 28 € — the rocket salad, duck breast and crème brûlée were all delicious. Definitely a good find in central Paris — just a couple of blocks from the Eiffel Tower. They have a good wine selection — but none by the class — only small and large bottles. Otherwise, we received good service and were happy with our meals.

We did our impromptu New Year’s Eve dinner here. The plan was to hope and pray that the Les Cocottes line wouldn’t be too dastardly of a wait. Instead, the restaurant was unfortunately closed(dang you, random Internet forum!) and the wait at Café Constant looked unbearably crowded. A block away, Bistro St. Dominique was happy enough to take us sans reservation, and we were promptly seated outdoors under the protection of some lovely(and quite warm) heat lamps. The prix fixe menu was a pricey but not wholly unreasonable 49 Euro, which we happily paid for some good food, general warmth, and good company. The menu was solid and actually hit the spot for all of us. The starter was a basic smoked salmon, which I was actually craving after seeing some at the Versailles Market the day before but choosing not to procure( ). It’s hard to screw up smoked salmon, but that doesn’t make it any less tasty. The main course was a choice of a fish or steak. Again, simply prepared; deliciously cooked. In an earlier review( ), I remarked on the simplicity and good taste of steak in Paris, and the same notion applied here. Juicy, tender, and lightly seasoned. Delicious. A nice lemon butter sauce went the flaky fish, and it was hard not to enjoy that as well. Sorbet, cheese, or a molten chocolate cake rounded out the dinner, and left us all satisfied. Judging from the reviews, this place is quite English-friendly, and I agree. Our wait staff was very nice and cordial. Oh, and also an additional bump to this place for introducing us to the«martini» apéritif, which in Paris is simply sweet vermouth over ice, and which immediately had the girls smitten.

Let me preface by saying that after walking way too long to find this place since I was lost I was overjoyed that this place had great food & slow but great service!(Being slow in customer service seemed to be a theme in Europe.) So you can imagine after all that walking and getting lost and then more walking to finally find Bistro St. Dominique I was tired and naturally VERY hungry. We each decided to order off the Prix Fix Menu since the prices were decent. To start off I had a Caesar salad. This was made with fresh iceberg lettuce and nice slices of chicken. I thought the portion was just right, not too big or not too small. To accompany this we also had the fried cheese filled empanada. I really liked to spicy mayonnaise sauce that accompanied this dish. Since I was tired of always ordering Duck confit at other French Restaurants I had the Cheeseburger that was overrun with fries. It was good, large and very hearty no complaints here. I had to share my fries since there was too much. My sister had the salmon with mashed potatoes. This things looked tiny, but she was happy since she was not in the mood to eat too much. For Dessert I had the brownie and scoop of vanilla ice cream. I also had the cup of cappucino to top it all off and I was completely stuffed but satisfied. Besides the unique location of the restaurant in the square I particularly liked the upstairs area where the restrooms were. The staircase was beyond me though. It was a tiny winding staircase that can only have one lane of traffic. The upstairs area felt like someone’s intimate living room fit for entertaining. I could see this place being rented out for a private occasion. So intimate even for a special date. Upon another trip to Paris, if I am in the area I could definitely see myself returning here.

Pas mal indeed. The line for Les Cocottes was just mental(I don’t know about you but I refuse to wait 45 minutes for a crowded meal with a 100 people watching, waiting for me to leave, I don’t care how good the food is), so I decided to investigate the neighborhood a bit and I stumbled on this not so secret option. Located quite well around the corner from the other resto, it served good old fashioned French food, with decent service and reasonable prices. They didn’t try to get rid of us or time our meal. If I’m in the neighborhood and need an easy option, I’d return here any day.

We had done so much research before heading to Paris to find gluten free restaurants only to end up really disappointed in what was on the menus at those places. This restaurant had a nice big menu and had some really great outdoor seating that just looked inviting. They weren’t especially great at dealing with my wife’s gluten allergy, but she ended up playing it safe and ordering fish and mashed potatoes so we felt it wasn’t very risky. The food was just alright, but the prices were very reasonable and the 3 course meal had plenty of options including a great dessert that we shared.

Welcome to the Applebees of Paris, complete with rotten service, snobby waiters and predictable food. We arrived and were presented menus five minutes later. A full 20 minutes later, our waiter appeared. I was pleased that he spoke English because my French is only passable. Three of us ordered a la carte, and my son ordered the prix fixe full dinner. Our entrees and my son’s first course, a salad, appeared 15 minutes later. Another 20 minutes passed and we were all done with our entrees and we had yet to see Msr. Ponytail again. I managed to get the attention of another waiter, who offered to check on our entrée. As son #2 was still hungry, we also ordered another hamburger for him. Suddenly, Msr. Ponytail showed up and began a heated argument in French with waiter #2. I interrupted them to ask about my son’s duck entrée. «Five minutes,» said Msr. Ponytail. In 15 minutes, the second hamburger appeared — still no duck. I asked Msr Ponytail about the duck and he said, in French, «but you just ordered this 10 minutes ago.» I told him, no, we had ordered it at the start and he told me again, no. All this in French, mind you, that sped up the more longer his nose got. About 15 minutes later – if you’re doing the math, we’re now 55 minutes into this nightmare – the duck suddenly appeared, with Ponytail acting all unctuous and speaking in French, no apologies offered. I asked for the bill. The bill appeared five minutes later and the idiot stood there, even though my son was still owed a dessert. Ponytail seemed to get that something was wrong – maybe because I couldn’t look him in the eye for fear that I might embed my fork in his face – so he ran away and appeared a few moments later with another menu, now asking, in English, if «the young man wants dessert.» «No,» I replied, «we’re just going to pay and never come back.» The bastard actually picked up the bill and laid it down again – this time in front of me. He then had the nerve to hold out his hand. I counted the euros — 102 — into his outstretched hand and we left amidst a hail of French from him that I can only think was as nasty as his service, This experience left us all with a decidedly bad taste in our mouths.

It was ok. We needed a last minute dinner and wondered around. They had a few tables full and agreed to take us close to closing. My husband ordered the pouch haddock fish, but received SMOKED haddock. It was super salty and not what he wanted, but it was late so he ate it. I ordered a meat plate and brie since I wasn’t as hungry, but wanted something with our wine. It was fine. Overall, I would say it’s an ok place. The ice creams looked very good, but I wasn’t in the mood at the time. Service was fine, but I don’t know if he really understood everything we were saying. They were starting to freak out when one large table lingered. When we left they showed not signs of getting the hint that the place was closing and they all wanted to go home. ;)

Is it me? Is it just Paris? or is the service in Paris reaaaally slow? We got seated upstairs as soon as we got there with no wait… so OK. off to a good start. We got our server right away and within 10 min, we have decided on a set menu and our order was put in. I thought it took a bit long for each course to come out. Whenever we asked for water or asked for service it took a very long time to get their attention or they would forget what we’ve asked. We ordered a bottle of wine which took about 30 mins to come out so we were sitting at an empty table for 30 min as we sipped on our small glass of wine which wasn’t refilled until the end of the meal… anyway, our 3 course meal consisted of Fois Gras Pâté which was a bit too salty for my taste, a perfectly Medium Rare Ribeye steak and Brie Cheese for desert for 25euros. Not a bad deal at all~ I also tried escargot that my boyfriend ordered… it was delicious, but I’ve had better in the US. Great deal, good food, but nothing too special. Would go back again, but won’t go out of my way to find it again.
