Bistrot du 1er

We chose Bistro 1er based on reviews and ended up eating there twice in one week in October. The service was friendly and helpful and gave us lots of details about the basque specialties on the menu which leaned towards comfort foods, at least in fall. The pork pluma, served over root vegetables was a favorite and the beef noodles and braised meat entrees were also delicious. We tried a couple of soups, terrines and other appetizers and enjoyed them all. The desserts were unique to me and I especially liked a strongly lemony parfait which I don’t see on the current menu. The service was friendly and helpful, the space is comfortable with comfortable seating and playfully decorated with large photos of happy young pigs.

We are sitting in here as I type this. We got a major craving for dessert and came across this gem. I wish I could comment on the rest of the food, but we just had drinks and dessert. In fact, our snickers dessert was so amazing, we ordered another one. Sweet craving — satisfied! My husband is drinking armagnac and is loving this lighter, grappa type drink. The British men working the place are a delight. It appears to be an entirely local crowd. Our kind of place!

Wonderful food and super-​friendly service (well beyond what you generally expect in paris). Kids loved both of our entrees which I generally view as one of the highest complements since kids can be picky! I would absolutely recommend.

When you’re staying very close to the Louvre like we are, it’s hard to find a French bistro/​restaurant/​café that is not touristy. All the places that are close to our AirBnB apartments have English menus which should signal «touristy» right away.
I found Bistro de 1er on my Unilocal mobile app and it has great reviews so far, so we decided to eat here for our last dinner in Paris. It is also really close to our place. 5 min walk tops! So glad we did! Both food and service were excellent!
The menu is in French and is printed on printer paper which tells me the menu changes often. Our server offered to translate the menu as needed. We tried to understand the French first and asked him a few questions after studying the menu. The dinner prix fixe is 33 € with surcharges for a couple of special things on the menu (the pluma de cochon and the agneau braisé roule).
We ordered a couple of glasses of wine, and ordered our selections. My husband started with the Tomato Gazpacho with Piquillo Peppers and Croquettes. I ordered the Beef Terrine starter which came with toasted bread and arugula salad. I tasted my husband’s entrée and his was fantastic! The gazpacho had great, bold flavors, and was nicely balanced by the milder croquettes on the side. So tasty. I was a little disappointed by the beef terrine. It really didn’t have a lot of flavor. The salad was nice though.
I was really impressed with our main dishes. I had the «Jambon de Porcelet» with Penne all’Arrabbiata. My server placed a shallow bowl sprinkled with chives in front of me and a small cast iron pot on the side. It was super hot, so he uncovered it for me. I scooped up some penne, sauce, veggies and the tender suckling pig meat on top of the penne. Very good! But as good as my dish was, my husband’s pork dish was even better. His was the Pluma de Cochon with broccoli, zucchini, mustard shoots and Parmesan cheese. This special cut of pork was tender and cooked with some pink in the middle. It was a fantastic dish. I should have ordered that! Both our dishes were quite generous, so we both did not finish them. So sad to waste such great food!
I did leave a little bit of room for dessert. I had the Twix Cajou which is a play on the Twix candy bar. My dessert came in a glass with caramel ice cream, cashews, biscuits, chocolate sauce, and whipped cream. Very good but very rich! My husband had the Rice pudding with Lemon Curd on top. We both really liked it.
All that food came to 84 € including wine, vat and service charge! Very reasonable. We would definitely go back to this place next time we’re in Paris! It’s a gem in the midst of mediocre and touristy restaurants near the Louvre!

Food was incredible, wine was delicious, waiters were so nice and also very knowledgeable about wine. A plus for foreigners looking to practice their French is that this place is one of the few restaurants where they will not insist on speaking in English if you try to speak French to them. The restaurant itself is casual and laid back, yet the food is on par with all those fancy snobby neo-​bistros popping up all over Paris. Such an amazing experience.

I was in Paris on a «girls trip» with my mother and daughter as a celebration of my daughters graduation when we found Bistrot du 1. It was our second night in Paris, and we had a really awful dining experience the night before. We wandered in, and couldn’t be happier that we did. We loved it so much, that once we finished our meal we made a booking to return for dinner a few nights later. The entire staff was friendly, helpful, and welcoming. The food was FABULOUS! As a matter of fact, I declared the suckling pig that I had during our final dinner to be the best meal I’ve ever had. Perhaps it was the ambiance, the company, the food… whatever it was, it was perfect! Our only regret is that we were so tired and happy when we left the restaurant after our last meal there, that we completely forgot to leave an extra service tip for the wonderful staff! The menu is in French (as it should be!) and everyone was really helpful in helping us know what our options were. (really, a language guide book will only get you so far!) While I don’t recall exactly what we all ordered, we ordered many different items from the menu and everything was very good. I will most certainly return to this outstanding restaurant. Absolute hidden gem!

Ca c’est un vrai bistrot !!!
La déco et le cadre font vrai bistrot, les serveurs aussi :), Il y a également une grande fresque à l’entrée montrant tous les grands noms de la scèné française (brassens, brel, etc).
On avait réservé via la fourchette mais comme ils n’avaient semble-​t-​il pas reçu de confirmation de notre part donc avaient attribuer notre table à quelqu’un d’autre. Ils nous ont donc trouvé une solution pour quand même nous installer, c’est plutot cool.
La carte se situe sur une grande ardoise mobile, sympa le concept. le soir, le menu E/​P/​D est à 32 euros, intéressant quand on voit les prix à l’unité (entrée :10, plat :20 et dessert 10 E.).
Les entrées étaient bonnes (couteaux persillés), les plats très bons et très copieux ! J’ai pris le burger qui était bon. le pain était au pavot et au piment d’Espelette, le steak était parfaitement cuit et cuisiné, il y avait aussi du chorizo et du fromage des Pyrénées (pas intéressant dans le burger, on le sentait pas). Les frites étaient en portion très généreuses et maison. Par contre, j’ai pas aimé le dessert (verrine de poires cuites et crues avec chocolat, piment, et crème menthe)
En tout cas c’est une bonne adresse, le personnel est très sympa et le service est rapide.

C’est bon, c’est bon, le rapport qualité prix/​qualité/​localisation est excellent.
Nous avons passé un très bon moment et nous recommandons !!

Repas délicieux, équipe accueillante
J’ai trouvé la nourriture délicieuse. Les plats sont traditionnels mais sortent quand même de l’ordinaire: je mange rarement des couteaux aussi bien préparés et j’ai découvert le pluma de pata negra, une vrai bonne surprise ! En plus, l’accueil est sympathique et efficace, ce qui né gâche rien. Nous avons passé un très bon moment et y retournerons sans aucun doute, c’est une très bonne adresse dans ce quartier.

Stopped here for lunch and had one of the best meals of our holiday in Paris. The beef mac and cheese was terrific, as well as the lamb stew. The bartender/​server/​host was extremely generous with his time and was kind about our broken French. He also kept our water glasses filled, which was hard to match at almost every restaurant we went to. We really appreciated that, as we’d been walking all morning. I’ll visit this place again for sure.

J’ai hésité entre le 4 et le 5 étoiles …
A vrai dire, en arrivant, nous avons failli repartir sachant qu’on nous a fait poireauter à l’entrée sans même nous parler ¼ d’heure alors que nous avions réservé.
Finalement on nous place. Le serveur est un peu bourru au début mais plutôt sympa.
Le menu E/​P/​D est à 35e avec quelques suppléments pour les plats.
En entrée, je prends les chipirons dans un bouillon de lentilles. Ultra bon rien à dire.
En plat, je prends la cocotte d’agneau aux petits légumes. L’agneau est très tendre, mais l’accompagnement un peu simpliste.
Par contre mon copain prend le burger basque. WOO une tuerie sans nom ! Pain fait maison, steak bien saignant et tendre, une tranche de foie gras … Les frites /​potatoes sont fondantes à souhait et la sauce faite maison … Vraie coup de coeur !!
En dessert, je me tente au riz au lait mais dommage ils l’avaient baigné de fleur d’oranger, pas fan.
Bref, les plats sont de très bonne qualité et je reviendrai sûrement rien que pour le burger !!

We had an amazing time at this place. Its a hole in a wall and not many people know about it unless who are a local. Food is exceptional. the bone marrow is a must have, so is the burger with pâté. The owner/​host was so much fun, he literally ordered for me and told us what we need to try. Best night in Paris!

My family and I (6 in total) dined here in late May, 2013. From the moment we stepped in the door they were the nicest people we met in all of Paris. And the Parisians were quite delightful on this visit. We tried our lame French but the waiter was fluent in English. Between the appetizers, the main courses and the desserts we tried almost everything on the small but varied menu. Two of the favorites were a tender melt off the bone lamb shank and the steak tartare. The presentations were beautiful and the food to die for. Service was attentive but not obtrusive. Prices for food and wine were quite reasonable. I have dined at many top French restaurants and the Bistrot du 1er is superb. Do not miss this place !!!

Alors j’ai trouvé ce restaurant en faisant mes petites recherches pour un bon diner parisien !
et ben je peux vous dire que j’ai tiré le gros lot.
Déjà le lieu est superbe, un vieux bistrot à l’ancienne comme je l’aime, du vieux parquet le gros bar à l’ancienne les tables et les chaises en bois.
Notre table est réservée (et heureusement) à l’entrée du restaurant.
Le patron vient nous voir avec son accent du sud et tout de suite on se sent comme à la maison.
une ardoise avec une formule entrée, plat, dessert, 34 euros (très raisonnable pour Paris et pour Rue Saint Honoré).
Des bons plats typiques bistrots, des terrines, du boudin et j’en passé.
En plat un excellent tartare de boeuf (dans le filet) des dessert à tomber également.
Au dela du prix c’est l’ambiance qui plait, les serveurs sont souriants et restent discuter.
Le patron se prend une chaise et s’assoit à la table en buvant avec nous un verre, puis deux.
Une franche rigolade et un excellent moment que je recommande vivement et qui nous fait presque oublier qu’on est à Paris

Wir waren zu dritt im Bitrot du 1er an einem Freitagabend und es war exzellent! Wir hatten Kabeljau-​Tortellini an einer traumhaft leckeren Sauce und Rindfleisch-​Carpacchio als Vorspeisen, Lamm und Seeteufel — jeweils mit einem sehr gelungenen Kartoffelstampf. Sowohl Fleisch als auch Fisch waren erstklassig — die Bedienung sehr charmant und aufmerksam. Dieses Restaurant ist unbedingt einen Besuch wert!

We had an outstanding dinner here. This section of St Honoré is going to continue to fill up with higher end shops and places as the renovation of Les Halles continues. This small area of Paris is tucked in between Palais Royal, The Louvre, Rivoli, the Marais is a little farther up the street. Its amazing its not gotten more touristy /​glitzy sooner. But, if places like Bistrot du 1er fill up the space I’m happy.
Between us we had beef and duck. I think I got the better deal as my canard was outrageously good. I’m seriously thinking of going back for it before I depart this time. The duck was shredded and then slow cooked inside a pastry and served along with green beans and finger potatoes that were baked along with the duck — almost crispy (and therefore sort of like a big french fry cooked in duck fat :).
The thing that makes «typical bistros» not so typical are the same as for any dining establishment: consistently good food (with a nice wine selection), good service and a fair price. Bistro du 1 is owned and run by the same individual that does the Aux Bons Crus. My experience there has always been good and after dining at this new place, its obvious its not an accident.
Three starters, three mains and two bottles of wine: 150 €…très bon!

Ici on vous propose une cuisine traditionnelle française et surtout un bar à vins extraordinaire !
Les formules né sont pas trop chères pour une cuisine de qualité, à déguster dans cette ambiance des anciennes Halles du vieux Paris.

Une atmosphère et une déco de bistrot traditionnel, ardoise aux murs, mobiliers en bois, larges miroirs encastrés le long des murs.
Sympa pour boire un verre ou manger un bout avec des amis ou à deux, l’ambiance est décontractée, vraiment sympa, et l’accueil chaleureux.
Après avoir bu une bonne bouteille de vin tout droit arrivée de la cave vous pouvez goûter à cuisine simple et bonne. Petite ravioles de Royan, salade gourmande, hamburger du bistrot… Il n’y a pas beaucoup de choix mais il y en a peu pour tout les goûts.

Rien que la devanture donne envie: dorée et chocolat, cela présage du bon. Puis on rentre, et on se dit qu’on a bien fait: l’ambiance est cool, la musique sympa, les serveurs souriants.
Comme restaurant, on a tout ce qu’il faut, et comme bar c’est encore mieux: le soir, le bistrot du 1er devient parfois déchaîné, parfois cool, parfois juste calme. Très très bons mojitos, par contre, je n’ai toujours pas trouvé d’endroit où le Gin Fizz est aussi bon que ceux que je fais.

Un bistro inconnu qui gagnerait à né plus l’être
Un cadre intimiste, du zinc, des lampes vertes de bibliothèque universitaires… Le bistrot du premier vous accueille dans sa longue salle à deux pas du Louvre. La cuisine est traditionnelle, française pas de Worlfooderie trop audacieuse… Juste les saveurs et les meilleurs produits exclusivement ! Des frites remarquables, des viandes de qualité, des desserts simples mais réussis. Un large choix de vins vous est proposé sur un grand tableau à craie. Vos voisins peuvent aussi bien être des touristes que des artistes des galeries alentour… Les prix sont plus que raisonnables pour une table aussi authentique: A découvrir au plus vite !
