Bistrot en Ville

As you walk towards Bistrot en Ville, you spot two french ladies sitting across from each other. Boujour (kisses on the cheeks), comment allez-​vous? I watched as they sips from their wine and smoking a cigarette. It’s this image that I see every time I walk by this place during my visit to Paris. It’s a popular place for locals to sit outside and enjoy a cup of coffee or wine.
Eventually I made my way towards Bistrot en Ville. Unfortunately, I caught a terrible cold during my travels so I opted out of the wine and given up coffee as of late. I decided to come here for dinner. The staff speaks limited English but tried to communicate via English for my comfort. I have limited French. I didn’t have the time to pick up a French book before I traveled. He bought over the English menu which I thought was a nice gesture. I knew from the French menu that I knew what I wanted to order. I got the sea bass fillet with mash, pomegranate sauce and a balsamic vinaigrette on the side. The wait was a bit long, but it might have been exaggerated by my hunger. The food finally came. The food was well plated. Everything was delicious and well seasoned. The interesting aspect of the dish was the pomegranate sauce. The sauce provided a strong contrast in flavor with its fruitness/​sweetness. In addition, the dish was more complex as you had to bite thru the pomegranate seed. It’s a well designed dish.

Hampe en plat du jour 12EUR80: du nerf et encore du nerf ! Juste un désolé. Même pas le café offert pour se faire pardonner.

A great local bar /​café in the 5^th district. Great coffee and a reality nice selection of cocktails and shots to choose from. Most of the people in here are locals and it’s open quite late. Really enjoyed coming here for a drink :-)

Pas mal pour un déjeuner sur le pouce. Des plats de bistrots sans chichis.
Je trouve la déco très colorée et bien sympathique.
Le service est pro et efficace.

Juste en face de la place Monge, ce café est idéalement situé en face du marché. La déco du lieu est sympa, avec ses stores et ses couleurs orangées et rouges, et le service pro sans être non plus hyper agréable.
Je me suis juste arrêtée boire un verre ici, ils ont de bons vins au verre, mais j’ai trouvé que les prix étaient relativement chers. Donc bien placé, mais un café qui né remporte pas mon adhésion…

Great little bistro, especially if you’re local to it but still worth a trip. Come here if you want a decent meal and good service in a nice modern setting. Food is good value and there is always both a fish and meat plat du jour, big tasty salads and bistro stalwarts like burgers etc.
The best part is the fact that they serve food all through opening hours. Outside of meal times you can choose from a big snack menu which includes salads, sandwiches, croques… etc
Service is good and the owner fosters good relationships with the local merchants (so he probably gets the freshest stuff in return ;-)).
As its local we’d just hang out on long summer days drinking wine and munching food on the terrace (which is heated during winter)
Since most tourists seem to get swallowed up into the rue mouffetard black hole it still feels like a chill local hangout rather than a tourist trap.
Stay away if you like the older-​style bistro with smoke-​yellowed fittings and being pointedly ignored for 20 mins before anybody asks if you want a drink :-)

Stylisches nettes Bistro am schönen Place Monge. Das Essen war lecker, hätte aber mehr sein können für den Preis (ja, Paris ist nicht gerade bon-​marché). Die Bedienung war sehr freundlich.
Wie eigentlich mittlerweile überall, hat es Heizstrahler auf der Terasse, so dass man auch im Herbst /​Winter noch draussen sitzen und auf den Platz schauen kann.
Ganz in der Nähe ist auch die Arena von Lutetia.
