La boulangerie Les pains d’Alexis est
certainement la meilleure de ce quartier de Paris 5eme /​13eme. Outré la baguette craquante et une variété de pains
spéciaux vendus au poids (pain complet, de seigle, aux noix, aux figues) qui méritent
tous d’être goutés, Alexis confectionne des madeleines qui font certainement
partie des meilleures de Paris. A damner Marcel Proust, elles sont moelleuses avec
à peine ce qu’il faut de sucre. J’en ai l’eau à la bouche rien que d’y penser. Alors
courrez chercher votre pain et laissez-​vous tenter par un sachet de madeleines

This bakery was the closest one to our apartment rental during my vacation, so I stopped in a few times to pick up breakfast. The place was small and the staff were not overly friendly, but the croissants were lovely and very reasonably priced. I also enjoyed that they had mini pain au chocolat for those mornings when I couldn’t decide between the two.

What a nice little bakery. We got a couple of almond croissants and a couple of Danish-​type pastries and a crusty baguette; we haven’t tried the danishes yet but the croissants and baguette were delicious. The woman working there was very helpful and could not have been nicer to us; she replied to us in English with plenty of smiles and without any prompting or hint of impatience. This is the kind of place that makes us want to stay in Paris longer!
