I have to agree with the French reviewers, who are much less enthusiastic about this place than are Americans. We just finished dinner there and the food was average at best for Paris. The snotty waiter made it clear he was much too important to serve dumb Americans, making no effort to help us with the menu or make suggestions. The bill was a bit more than better dinners at similar places. There are better choices in this neighborhood.

Solid dinner here on a Sunday evening for me and my co-pilot. We happened upon this resto after visiting the Marmottan Monet museum. Menu is not overly expansive, but has all the French«hits» you’ll recognize and want(try the pot au feu if you like beef stew w/a big bone + marrow!) She started with the crab-avocado salad, followed by the burger(yes, when in Paris, right?). I started w/the chèvre salad, followed by the duck confit. We shared a lime themed cheesecake – light and refreshing. Decent wine selection. Helpful waiter. Great value and good portion sizes. Definitely recommend a meal here.

We stayed in the hotel attached to Café la Fontaine and we were excited about the positive reviews it received on both Unilocal and Trip Advisor. This pleasant café does a nice little business with the locals in the 16th and the Radio France workers. We dined at Café a la Fontaine two times during our stay and both times we really enjoyed our meals. The menu is not that large and in French but the wait staff will translate if you have any questions. It is not too expensive either which is always a plus. The crispy-skinned Confit du Canard(Duck) was very good, The Pot au Feu,(A French Beef Stew) was also excellent. They have some chicken, pasta, steak, burger and salads also. It is simple inside with wood floors and cozy seats. The customers were friendly too. The waiters tolerated by terrible French and answered in English. Nice little spot if your in or around the 16th. I wish there was something like this in Phila/South Jersey. It wasn’t an 7 hour flight it would get 5 stars.

This is my favorite restaurant in Paris. They’re service is excellent but even if it was awful if still come here everyday to have some of their penne au poulet asperges Parmesan. It’s the best pasta in Europe. Their duck is super great. They don’t do lunch so come in for dinner but they are open in the mornings for coffee and a petit dejeuner. All their chicken dishes are great and their burger and fries is great as well. They have good steak. Their music is on point at all times. They’re really nice in general honestly.

This was our go-to place for our week in Paris. We had rented an apartment just around the corner, and despite an abundance of choice, Café a la Fontaine ended up being our favourite. Whether it was for a relaxing afternoon coffee, a piece of(delicious) cheesecake, or a hearty dinner, this place fit the bill. There’s something about European cafes that I feel we’re lacking back home. The lack of televisions is one of the first things I noticed, as is the culture of standing at the bar for a cheaper espresso. As the morning crowd shuffles through, I get a real sense of community as they read the newspaper, have a chat, munch on a flaky croissant, and have a small(but real) cup of coffee. Why are we so obsessed with speed and size over on this side of the pond? Café philosophy aside, some tips: 1) Go for the Pot au Feu. It’s simple, filling, and rustic. 2) If you get the duck(their specialty) just be warned that it’s fatty and rich. Fantastic, but be prepared to feel full. 3) The fromage blanc for desert is divine. Rich soft cheese with honey. So good. You’re spoiled for choice in Paris, but you can’t go wrong at a la Fontaine.

a neighborhood go-to with really good, inexpensive bistro menu. the patio gets packed days/nights…a very chill spot to eat & drink. i love the crispy-skinned confit du canard and will eat 2 plates when super hungry. AT half the price than in trendy restaurants. popular with folks at Radio France, residents and theater-goers at Théâtre Le Ranelagh. so if you’re one of us or find yourself nearby, come here for a good time and a full belly.
