I’ll give this 4 stars because we had a good experience. The food was on the better side of «ok». The service was good. The people watching and ambiance was terrific. The Café de Paris is on Rue De Buci which is a great street to walk down with tons of café’s, pubs, and stores.

I can recommend this place for breakfast and also drinks in the afternoon. The staff were lovely and the price for a set breakfast was pretty good compared to others in different areas around Paris. We ordered a glass of wine and it came with pretzels, olives and peanuts. They were okay with us just getting a drink and not ordering food and brought us tap water without asking too. Overall, just a very nice experience over the course of a few visits.

The service is good and the wait staff is friendly but the food is tasteless. My husband and I each had one of the day’s specials: the Rissotto with salmon and sea bass and the Entrecôte with pommes frites(fries) both were bland.

Just down the street from our hotel and along the small Rue de Buci, this little spot is good for people watching. Since it was open a little later on a Monday night, it was a perfect spot to grab a little nibble. I would say that the food is just average, but the location bumps it up and our server was very sweet with a smile. Stick with basic fare and you’ll be cool.

In a city famous for cuisine we found this lovely spot near our hotel. We spent a week in Paris in early September and found our way back to this wonderful restaurant almost every day. We had breakfast, lunch and dinner during our stay. Each time we visited we were treated so nicely by all the staff. Several local Parisians told us we had made a wise choice, as they rely on their local clientele, thus do not serve tourist fare, but meals that the Parisians seek out. Although we visited other places, we kept finding our way back to our favorite Parisians spot. The breakfast of omelets and croissants was so delicious with their café au latte. I loved the chocolate chaud. For lunches and dinner we often had the special fish of the day, or steak frites, the pasta with salmon was wonderful. All the meals come with a simple salad, dressed with their wonderful house dressing. But all in all, the best feature was the wonderful staff.

Lovely, great for breakfast and lunch. Nice menu with good prices and friendly staff. We sat outside and enjoyed our experience very much — rue de buci is buzzing and we had a great time relaxing, drinking, eating and people watching. Nothing special, but a nice local go-to spot.

Four stars for the location, 2 for the food, 3.5 for the wine. Stayed in a fifth floor vrbo rental on the fantastic rue de buci, so this place was one of our main stops on the walk back after a long night on the town. Very friendly, accessible, great for people-watching, and having a good night cap. Really good bread, crispy fries, and decent soups. If you go during beaujolais season, this place really jollies it up. Hence, be festive and order a few bottles and relive the hijinks of the evening. Very friendly service and convenient.

Food extremely sub par. The waiters were especially rude and uncourteous. At midday, the restaurant was completely empty. The indoor décor is horrendous and the restaurant smells of manure. Do not come here, they deserve to be bankrupt

Qualité des mets très aléatoire dans cet établissement surtout pour le prix payé. 40 € pour une entrée et un plat. Très touristique. Le café de Paris n’a donc pas le prestige de la ville éponyme.

Nice location… Food not so much. had onion soup which was average and also the duck which was tough and cold. The veggies that came with the duck were soggy and had a disgusting fish after taste… For 40 euros, I would expect a better meal. Will not return. M

Keep walking or grab a sandwich next door from the case. Pleasant service but awful food. I know I know… the name said it all but we were hungry and tired of walking.

If I wasn’t hungry, I could read the paper all day, just not here. «Modern» to me in France just means tacky and poor quality. In all, perfect that no one took my order, so I excused myself to L’Atlas across the street, which was more than welcoming, authentic French style and delicious fresh croissants and omelette avec fromage. Not interested in giving them a chance now that I have found L’Atlas.

I arrived at 630 on a Friday(which I now know is very early for dinner in France in the summer) but it was still packed. I ordered lamb chops which turned out not to be lamb chops(were actually shoulders). Wasn’t too disappointed by the switch until I tasted them. They were not good. After that had some amazing Camembert with some wine. Then closed with a crème brûlée that was just average and a huge 1L beer. Great place to have a beer an appetizers. Perfect for people watching. And a friendly and English speaking wait staff(and menu). Maybe a good place for a burger, but I wouldn’t recommend any food that requires a special touch. 4 stars for overall experience, but 2 stars on food alone.

A ÉVITER D’URGENCE !!

Two words. Tourist. Trap. There are many amazing culinary experiences to be had in Paris. Why go to a tourist trap and miss out on a better experience? Even in the hit-or-miss brasserie category, this place doesn’t cut it. Food is okay. Not stellar. Not as fresh as many places. And not varied. My steak came with a Bearnaise that was so lemony and stale it was an embarrassment to the plate. My wife’s seafood quenelles were tasty, but buried in so much cheese they could have been served at any major chain restaurant in the US. Service was sullen, hurried and inattentive. Our server barked questions, didn’t listen to answers — he spent his time looking elsewhere. We were speaking French, we were polite and non-demanding, but he still treated us like garbage. Rushed, bored, whatever. Ruder than need be(our rudest service in a full week of eating out in Paris). The worst was being scammed for water. We were asked whether we wanted flat or fizzy water. We said flat, thinking that it would be a carafe, as it had been everywhere else, of tap water. Instead, we got a bottle of flat Evian that cost a whopping 8 euros. This is a clear tourist manipulation that left us furious and disgusted. We had amazing culinary experiences of all kinds in Paris. This place was NOT one of them. We should have known to walk out before ordering, but lesson learned. Avoid this joint and pick one of the many amazing options within a block or two. If you want patio on which to have a drink, try it, but be prepared for the service to treat you with disdain.

Absolutely the most embarrassingly bad meal I’ve ever had in Paris. As an indication, I ordered the Entrecôte and ITWASCOOKEDONONLYONESIDE. How indifferent, incompetent, or inebriated must a chef be to succeed in this? The replacement was mediocre, left ¾ uneaten and no offer was made to strike it from the menu. My girlfriend and I had oysters and a couple glasses of wine here and it was delicious. The oysters were from Brittany, France. For main course I had the scallops and she had the duck. Nice atmosphere to people watch, walk around after dinner, etc… It was a bit pricey, but I guess that is typical. And I want to thank you.

Great food, atmosphere and vale. However, the waiter told us that he expected a tip in addition to the government mandated requirement that all restaurants be include the tip as part of the tab. Don’t fall for this extraordinary plea for additional recompense.

Very nice spot for excellent seafood. It’s classy but relaxed. Great waiters. Nice wines. Its in a fun pedestrian street. I lived down the street for 3 years and I ate here a lot for the food, fun, and just wallowing in the Paris lifestyle. I get the oysters starters, some Sancerre and the fish special usually. Simply a great dining experience. Do not go if you’re in a hurry, relax, smile, enjoy. Have a glass of wine.

Simple, fun and relatively inexpensive, [really enjoyed the wait staff], funny and humorously sarcastic towards the idiotic customers who wouldn’t even acknowledge their existence… guess you had to be there. Busy little ‘typical’ left bank eatery, good food, good desserts, nice inexpensive vin de maison, great service on a cold February night, very appreciative of our attempted french and the service was prompt and not fussy… Will return on my next visit…

We stumbled into this spot, lured by the oysters on display and dismayed by the waitstaff snobbery and tourist-mill-like atmosphere at the likes of Café’ Flore, etc. around the corner(where menus are shoved in your face and the three most expensive items are pointed out to you as «specialties»). The waitstaff here at the generically named Café’ de Paris on a nearby and less busy sidestreet was very pleasant and bilingual. The oysters were divine, although pricey. The cheapest options of the most recommended variety(Gilardeau) comes at 16.50 Euros for ½ dozen. The onion soup with cheese was good enough, but the complimentary baguette was outstanding. The coq au vin was delicious and tender. It was a cool but sunny January day and we sat under the heaters outside to people watch. It was, however, warm, cozy and full of charm inside, and you would not miss out by enjoying the indoors in cool weather. I would recommend this place without hesitation. Expect lunch to run in the range of 50 – 60 Euro for two.

The Rue de Buci(the street on which this restaurant is located) is a Paris treasure and stopping to have a drink on this street is a must-do on a beautiful summer night. Sit on the terrace and embrace the vibrant culture on display. But only a drink. Go eat around the corner at one of the delicious places on the Rue de Seine. Again: have a drink on the terrace! But go elsewhere to eat. The Café de Paris is expensive and far from the best place to eat in the area.
