Mangetout was a great stop after a long day of sightseeing. We chose the set menu of 3 courses for 25 €, and it was a great choice. Both of us enjoyed the chestnut cream soup with mushrooms. The rib steak was solid(we’re steak snobs, but for the price it was good), and the rabbit stew with mashed potatoes was a rare find and worth trying. Our only disappointment was the apple pie dessert which was small, not traditional, and lackluster. Quiet, not crowded and definitely worth a visit.

We enjoyed a relaxing and lovely dinner with the fixed price menu at Mangetout. Dinner was a good value for Paris, and we had reservations. The small restaurant wasn’t crowded, and the service was excellent… friendly, cordial, and gracious. I had a view of the charming street through a window. The Gaspacho cold soup with fresh cheese was excellent in taste and texture, and it was my favorite part of the meal. The Chicken pasta main course was too bland for me and disappointing. Chicken included some skin(NOT crispy) which I didn’t care for. This entrée included chicken, pasta and mushrooms in a creamy sauce. For me, the chicken tasted a little too gamey, but I’m not sure what caused this. It may just be my palate. If the flavors in this main course had been stronger, I may not have noticed the«gamey» chicken. Dessert was interesting… a thin and crispy apple tart with a hint of Rose water sweetener. Mangetout offers good food for a reasonable price by Paris standards. But I was hoping for a more impressive main course. This is a small and quiet restaurant, and I’d discourage groups from eating here, because it has a quiet atmosphere. It’s best for couples, or a party of 2 or 3 people.

I really enjoyed my dining experience at Mangetout tonight. We went for a special romantic dinner, and they surely didn’t disappoint. Mangetout is small but upscale eatery with just a handful of tables. The décor is definitely French Chic and the staff is nicely attentive without being overbearing. Alain Dutournier, a Michelin-starred chef, owns the restaurant and designed the menu. This was clearly evident in the quality and presentation of the meal. For € 25 prix fixé(a bargain by French standards) we were offered choices of entrees, mains, and desserts. I selected the«Mixed Salad with Cesar Dressing», the«Farm Poultry Slowly Roasted», and the«Warm Crispy Musketeer Apple Pie» for dessert. Alternatives included«Gazpacho with Fresh Cheese, «Beef Ribsteak with Parsley Butter», and«Strawberries in White Chocolate Mousse». Of course, each of these dishes has a much more elegant French name, but they don’t translate so well into English. In any case each was remarkable and a fiesta of flavors! Mangetout, as expected, offers a fine selection of wines. Our waitress suggested two of her favorites(a red and a white), and both were excellent. I can’t remember their names, unfortunately. As I mentioned, the service was impeccable, and sufficient English was spoken to allow us to feel very comfortable. If I lived in Paris, I would definitely return here often to partake of their various fixed price menu offerings.

I saw this restaurant on tv and wanted to check it out, they had a menu for 25 euros, i couldt beleive the quality of the food for that price.
