We were especially hungry when we stopped in for a late lunch and we were all disappointed. We had a couple of sandwiches and pizza and nothing was very good. If you are in the area, pass this place for something else that might offer better good.

I had a burger and pichet of wine here and it was pretty good. Definitely not the best — the bun on the burger wasn’t fresh, for example. But, the location is pretty and very convenient. Not as bad as the other reviews would have you believe, but certainly not worth going out of your way for.

Gross. Shelf stable sliced bread for croque ?! Unbelievable. There should be a law against it. Expensive. Don’t let your blood sugar crash at the louvre and make the same desperate bad choice I did. I wouldn’t even stop in for a beer.

Great location with beautiful view. Café inside is tight but very comfortable. Food was good for a café. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Outdoor seating has heating overhead for the cooler months.

I asked for lemonade… he gave me sprite. I told him it was sprite… he told me it was home made lemonade… it was sprite. Good location… nothing else. Cheese burger was okay.

I have been there at lunch time with my family. They gave me a different food and it was not the food what I want(I ordered quiche). But they ignored me so I called one of the staff and he told me this is French style quiche. OMG! He was lying to me as he thought I don’t not know the French food. Only one staff told me sorry and changed it to quiche. but the others were VERY rude. They were pretending not to understand English. RUBBISHRUBBISHRUBBISH This word is perfect description for this café.

Ate here twice, both times ordered the boeuf bourguignon as it was that good. The second time we dined we also ordered the onion soup. Both were delicious. Had a very nice Bordeaux for € 4,50 a glass or € 20 a bottle. Had a different waiter each meal and both were very friendly. Smokers sit outside as is the custom, so beware.

Great location for a café crème after a long day at the Louvre. We were very quickly service and were well taken care of for the short time we were here.

Be warned and stay away from this place! The service was so bad that it ruined the rest of what would have been an amazing day in Paris! The waiter was the rudest person I have ever encountered! My friend and I ordered 2 regular cappuccinos from the menu which had a regular for 4 Euro and a large for 9 Euro. When we ordered the waiter asked us «Medium?» 3 times. We said yes and when the bill came we were charged for the 9 Euro large drinks. When we called the waiter over he began to yell at us and responded that the mug was large therefor we had to pay for the large cappuccino. When I tried to debate this he rolled his eyes, began yelling that if he changed the order the difference would have to come out of his paycheck and refused to correct his mistake, storming away. I have never been treated so poorly by anyone in the service industry. I am pretty sure he does this on purpose in order to run up the bill. Be warned and stay away from this café!

Great location, but nothing particularly outstanding in comparison to anyother Parisian brasserie/café. Although on this particular instance I was lucky enough to have a very friendly waiter. The hot wine with cinnamon is a great menu option; sipping it whilst sitting opposite the entrance to Le Lourve.

Avoid this place it’s very overpriced, the food and coffee is only passable. They charged 7 Euros for a cappuccino and a minimum of 15 euros on the credit card.

This was our first dining experience in Paris. We had taken the train in that afternoon and wanted some dinner that was close to our hotel. This place is right across the street from where we are staying, in fact I can see it from my hotel room, burning a hole in my soul. We were flagged down by a member of the waitstaff, that should have been a warning, if the food is good you shouldn’t need to stand outside… The menu looked alright so we went inside and sat in the corner. The service was fine but the food really was not, the roast beef special was overcooked and the confit was not at all flavorful. I’m just glad we didn’t get dessert. PS if you are going to pay with credit card and want to add tip tell them before they swipe your card.

Wandered into this place to grab some dinner. It didn’t feel like a «French» dining experience but we weren’t exactly looking for one either. The staff was very friendly and took good care of our group. Although we went with the waiter’s recommended special of the day(beef steak), the special just wasn’t all that special. In fact, it was cooked way beyond what he recommended as medium, and the«tenderness» he sold us on was not true at all. It was a nice looking restaurant, with great staff, but the food was mediocre at best. Location is nice though — a few steps from the Louvre.

Signed up for Unilocal just because of this place and it’s the only place to share my terrible experience. Not sure if anyone will read it, but if there is a chance to warn anybody just a tiny bit, then it’s worth it. My experience: got a disgusted look by the waiter when we said we just came for drinks. Ordered 3 coffee, didn’t get the chance to order water. Got the coffee, ordered the water, got ‘5 minutes’ as an answer. 10 minutes later, no water. Reminded the waiter. No apology whatsoever, no water. 5 minutes later, no water. Explicitly and loudly requested water. Waiter is annoyed and nods, still no water. 5 minutes later, bill is slammed on our table. This bar is here to rip off tourists who will never come back anyway.

First crêpe I had in town and my nutella(chocolate) crêpe was yummy but that could’ve been my hours of walking and no food also. Waiter was a bit pushy to ask for my 5 euro as tips when I was not even leaving yet and putting my change away.

I don’t learn. Or at least my stomach doesn’t. After a successful run of delicious meals thanks to Unilocal,I decided to wander around my last day in Paris and spend time at my favorite attractions, one of them being the Louvre. Of course it’s difficult to find good food at an affordable price when you are near these national treasures. I was craving a quiche and decided not to search more since everything around the area was similarly priced or higher. This seemed okay. I started off with the escargot and a white wine. The escargot tongs I had were large and the shells themselves were jutting out funny so I had a bit of a problem handling it(and I never do). I almost thought they stiffed me but one snail piece was hiding VERY deep within its shell. The taste was ok and by no means the best. The quiche lorraine was alright as well. They had burnt the bottom layer of pastry so it was dark. The eggs were also pretty solid and I’m used to a looser quiche. I’m also not a salad person and don’t like huge Romaine lettuce leaves… which I got. It came with a white horseradish dressing and I hate the taste of that(I know, I know, the French love their mustard, but horseradish and mustard is simply not for me). Thankfully the taste wasn’t too strong. Overall, not the best meal for your money(8.50 Euro for the escargot, 10.50 Euro for the quiche, and about 6 Euro for the wine). I’d skip this place. They also got SUPER packed at mid-noon and service was pretty slow for me around then. They do, however, speak English.

My wife and I were on our honey moon and decided to find a place to eat after touring the louvre. We were referred to another restaurant. However, many places are closed or close early in Paris on Sundays. Since were tired after a long day, the first one we found outside of our exit that was open was the Café Palais Royale. After reading the menu, a waiter came out and asked us(and anyone else walking by) if we wanted to come in. Since we have not found any bad places to eat in Paris yet, we decided to go in… BIGMISTAKE. In a nutshell, we found out that the food quality is terrible and overpriced. What’s funny is that Coca-Cola costs more than a beer here too. While the service was OK, we now understand why the waiter kept drawing people in. Without his good location to draw tourists in, the restaurant would quickly go out of business.

They are rude, they deliberately misunderstood orders even when they were given twice in French and English, and repeated back. They have incomprehensible rules regarding drinks(for example: you are not allowed a 100ml bottle of water for € 5.00 if you are not ordering food — but you can have a 50ml bottle for € 4.70 if that pleases you). After I explained that they had delivered the wrong order(a cappucino for € 6.50 instead of a hot chocolate for € 4.50) they then asked if I would like to order another drink at my cost to fix the problem. I declined. I am never going back to this place, and I encourage everyone to avoid it.

The Café Palais Royal is tight fit location but frequented by Parisians. It’s located right behind the Louvre Museum and Hotel. The food was OK but the Smoked Salmon Salad was the best I’ve had. Service is the main reason why I revisit a restaurant and unfortunately the service was absolutely terrible, slow and would give a very bad first impression of Paris to out of town visitors. The bathroom is very small but so is every bathroom in France Brasserie /Café so that’s not really in issue. The outdoor seating has an exceptional view of the Louvre Museum and I would recommend eating here for a late lunch as it does get extremely packed. Anytime locals frequent a spot that must mean something as they do have a very nice French Bistro menu.
