Comptoir de l’Arc

Nothing fancy. I had the chicken and risotto which was great. As others have said, small tables and slow service but a nice local feeling place to go.

I have mixed feelings about this place.
Le Comptoir is reasonable for its location, and as such it is always busy (be sure to get there right at noon). The food ranges from awful to very good, and the service can be top notch or inadequate, though it is always rushed.
I’ve had an excellent experience here, and a horrible one. The one time I had the tuna steak special on the terrace, I thoroughly enjoyed my lunch. It arrived quickly and the sesame teriyaki sauce hit the spot.
The second time, inside, I had veal and potatoes which wasn’t bad, but just that. The salad that came with was my favorite part of the dish, as the lettuce was fresh and the sauce tangy. I then ordered a cheese plate to polish off the meal, and it was the worst I’ve had in Paris. To top things off, the credit card machine wasn’t working, and the waiter insinuated that the problem was with my card and my colleague’s card, not his machine (strange, as I had paid with that same card the last time I dined there, and my colleague’s had been working just fine earlier that day…)

This is not the best food in town. Just average. Nothing made there probably. But for 11 euros you cannot get that in the area… Service is fast but this is really crowded at lunch and happy hour time.

C’est vrai que ce n’est pas cher pour le quartier… Mais bon, le prix né fait pas tout. C’est un restaurant où les plats manquent de saveur et où tout est toujours en rupture de stock. Arrivés à 14h30, il manquait aujourd’hui le tartare de saumon, la quiche du jour, les pâtes du jour & le confit de canard. Sur une douzaine de plats à la carte, ça fait quand même un peu beaucoup. Surtout que la dernière fois le scénario était identique. Décevant donc car sans grand intérêt.

Bön, on est quasiment dans de la restauration rapide, du travail à la chaîné. Mais trouver des plats d’une telle qualité à ce tarif dans ce quartier relève de l’impossible. Bref une adresse à connaître…

Les bonnes adresses abordables dans le quartier des Champs Elysées né courent pas les rues (bon ok mauvais jeu de mots). Mais il y a le Comptoir de l’Arc !
Ce n’est pas de la grande cuisine mais si vous voulez déjeuner rapidement pour un budget de ¹⁰⁄₁₅ € le plat et en prime servi vite, vous êtes au bon endroit.
Petits conseils:
— l’établissement né prend pas de réservation pour le déjeuner;
— si vous venez à 2 ou plus, soyez tous là à l’heure ! Le staff place les tables complètes uniquement…

I visited this place about one year ago. Delicious and very reasonable price for lunch. Not many tourists.

Je n’y suis allée seulement qu’hier et force est de constater que c’est LE bar des afterwork du 8eme. Les prix sont abordables, la terrasse né désemplit pas et c’est pour la bonne cause: situé dans un quartier où (généralement) on se saigne né serais-​ce que pour un café, ce bar offre un bon rapport qualité/​prix.
Seul bémol (de mon point de vue): pour y manger (du moins le soir) c’est non merci. Trop de monde, trop de bruit, je n’apprécierais pas mon repas. Mais c’est l’endroit parfait pour prendre un verre dans le quartier !

My wife and are staying in the area and we didn’t feel like having a lavish 3 hour meal, so we wanted to find a less touristy and more casual place. This place was perfect.
It’s 1 block from the Arc de Triomphe, but as others have stated, it is not touristy. It fills up with locals, many of whom work in the surrounding businesses. We went on a Friday around 11 PM, and it was very busy with the after work crowd having drinks. The group next to us was a group if very friendly and funny locals that clued us in.
The food was amazing. It’s not Michelin 3 stars good, but it is really really delicious. We ordered an Italian salad (coppa, mozzarella, shaved parmasean, green beans, tomatoes, lettuce) which was really great. For our main courses we ordered steak tartare and duck confit. Wow. Really amazingly good and huge portions. I didn’t think they did that in France (at least wouldn’t expect that in a non-​tourist place). Costs about a dozen Euro for each of the 3 plates. We got a bottle of wine for under 25.
The other mixed drinks (try the parakeet/​parrot) are 5 for a huge one.
Aside from the friendly locals who made our night a blast, the waiter, Laurent, was awesome. He was funny, quick, and my wife thought he looked like James Franco’s cousin.
It’s closed on the weekends, which makes me sad. But we will return again during the week for another great meal!

Was walking around the area looking for something affordable and good. Thanks to the two lone reviews that gave it 4.5 we decided to try.
Close quarter seating gives it a bar vibe and makes you feel like a local. The souris d’agneau looked good but they were out of it. Tried the entrecôte which wasn’t too bad. Prices are very reasonable and quite worth it. Most items are € 10!

We visited the place during lunch time and ordered four meals ranging from quiche (with cheese and tomatoes) to duck leg and some wine.
Pro:
1) During the lunch time it was served super-​fast, everything including the well-​done beef Entrecôte served in maximum 10 minutes, which gives hints that food is pre-​coooked.
2) Free water
3) Close to the sightseeing spots
4) Prices are reasonable
Contra:
1) Only one of four meals was enjoyable — duck leg,– the rest was OK, not more than that. Chicken was overdried, and entrecôte was pretty tasteless.

On né va pas au Comptoir de l’Arc pour vivre une expérience gustative d’exception, ni pour se délecter des meilleurs cocktails de la place parisienne. Néanmoins, 4 étoiles pour le Comptoir de l’Arc, sans doute l’adresse la plus sympathique en mode afterwork du 8ème arrondissement ! J’y vais de temps en temps depuis des années maintenant.
Hier soir, j’y étais encore et fort de constater que la recette est efficace: cocktail à 6 euros, plats entre 11 et 15 le soir… Si ce n’est pas très bon, ni très intéressant en terme de saveurs, ce n’est pas mauvais non plus.
Et ça cartonne, la terrasse né désemplit pas. Le service est poli, la plupart du temps.
Une valeur sûre pour refaire le monde avec des potes, surtout s’ils né sont pas spécialement des foodistas… :)

Solid food, and as others have said, not out of the park. My wife speaks French, so I think that was helpful– this is definitely a locals’ place. There are two really great aspects to this restaurant: the prices, which are very reasonable, and the patrons, who are real-​deal Parisians. This didn’t seem like a touristy place at all.

Chic et pas cher
Dans un quartier où les prix atteignent des niveaux stratosphériques on est content de trouver cette brasserie.
D’ailleurs on s’y trompe pas, la fréquentation est importante, donc venez tôt ou tard pour être sur d’avoir une place sinon vous pourrez toujours manger debout au comptoir à l’ancienne !

Perfect place for a beer after a long walking afternoon and then a great. Sunset on arc de triomphe and mojito or what else drink you want. Great plate and absolutely not so expensive and rapid service. Very crowded. Reservation iis recommended. Walking distance from trocadero. One of the best view of eiffel tower

Un endroit qui surprend vu la position géographique, et des prix qui font rêver…ou alors ont cherche un bon qualité prix je l’ai découvert il y à peut de temps… Né pas s’en privée…
Niveau boisson c’est top après j’ai déjà manger mais cela reste assez classique.
J’y viens que pour boire dans ce lieu.

Le Comptoir. j adore… Le service et ceux qui le compose, les verres pas chers, les plats et salades variés avec un rapport qualité prix très appréciable
L été en terrasse et le jeudi c est un peu blindé mais c est normal quand tu connais. tu reviens et comme tout le monde reviens. y a du monde…
il est préférable de réserver pour diner le soir…
la musique est variée, il y a aussi un écran pour les soirs de match mais pas de son et c est pas le lieux où tu vas trouvé des supporters enragés!
les verres sont pas servis au doseur. résultat la devis du comptoir. je suis venu, j ai bu, j évacue!

Un restaurant et bar sympa et pas cher à côté des champs? J’adore ! C’est donc ainsi que nous avons essayé le Comptoir de l’arc, pour y prendre un verre et finalement y diner, sous le sourire et l’accent chantant (et un peu exagéré?) de Laurent, le serveur parisien le moins rustre qui soit ! Des Mojitos délicieux et à 6 €, je né savais pas que ça existait encore à Paris! Et encore moins dans le quartier des champs/l’étoile ! Pourtant, le Comptoir de l’Arc est là, et les gens né s’y trompent pas car il est bondé!
Finalement assis après un ou deux verres, nous décidons de commander (on est pas très originaux) des steaks tartares. Ce qui peût être un paris un peu osé dans une brasserie qui… brasse autant de monde! Mais ils étaient délicieux, nature, poêlé ou au parmesan! Vraiment, une merveille de tartare, bien assaisonné parfait, acompagné de petites pommes sarladaise et juste ce qu’il faut de salade !
Vraiment, une adresse à se garder bien au chaud pour rester près des champs pour un afterwork sympa et pas cher !

Bah ouais y a plein de monde au comptoir de l’Arc !
Mais bon en même temps, trouver un lieu qui regroupe :
Un service de folie (les serveurs sont toujours aimables et souriants)
Des alcools à prix corrects pour le quartier (6e le Mojito)
Des plats à prix corrects, assez consistants et plutôt bons (comptez 13e le P et 6e le dessert)
Une ambiance mêlant, musique et même un écran au bout pour voir le foot (sans faire bar de quartier et pour le regarder sans que vos amiEs vous remarquent)
Alors oui y a beaucoup de monde c’est très bruyant.
La rançon de la gloire ma bonne dame.

Au début je voulais mettre 2 étoiles car :
Beaucoup d’attente, très bruyant pour manger, une pléthore de plats tous à 12 € né laissant aucun doute sur la provenance de ceux ci (i.e. le congello). Pas vraiment un coup de gueule car vu les prix très abordables et l’adresse il né pouvait pas vraiement en être autrement.
Dans ce cas, je prends toujours le confit de canard et les sarladaises, car c’est très difficelement rattable.
2 bons points néanmoins qui ont justifié les 3 étoiles
— Le camembert roti au miel à la carte, une vraie bonne surprise et bonne idée en tapas à partager
— Le vin rouge espagnol, cheap et pas mauvais du tout.

Un excellent rapport qualité prix dans un quartier réputé cher. Les plats sont simples, on est sur une brasserie classique avec des prix de plats autour de 10 – 12 €. Les bouteilles sont elles aussi entre 20 et 40 €. C’est bon, mais ça né surprends pas. Petit bémol, on a pris un margaux… ce n’en étais pas vraiment un…
Mais bon, si vous êtes dans le coin, vous né serez pas déçu !

I was looking for a restaurant near the Arc and choose this based on Unilocal reviews. All 6 of us enjoyed the atmosphere and food. Great steaks and very reasonable for Paris. Thanks Unilocalers!

Best meal I had in Paris and best vibe – because only the locals hang out here. Just off the beaten path near the Arc, this bar was bumpin and blasting good music at happy hour. So great to people watch and see how the Parisians socialize. Bar food was excellent, creamy orzo and chicken skewars – delicious. Service was slow but decent, but do know that they don’t get a lot of tourists so they don’t speak English, you’ll have to know your French to order.

Loved this place for its authenticity. Even though it was so close to the Champs it was all locals having happy hour and dining. The wait staff wont hover over your, it’ll take a while to get your check, its loud… but the food was awesome and completely worth it.

Don’t bother coming here if you’re not prepared for a proper Paris dining experience. You’ll get water intermittently, your server isn’t going to hover over you, and you’ll only get coffee (/​espresso!) after your dessert. It is truly French and truly wonderful because of it!
This was my local from 2011−2013… I ate here at least once a week. Sometimes more.
Authentic. Parisian. Food is solid. Price is amazing for being a block from the Champs Elysees.
Personally loved seeing tourists mistakenly enter only to sit down with deer-​caught-​in-​headlights expressions.
Staff is welcoming. Pretty English friendly. Don’t come in and expect to be out in an hour. Come in and actually enjoy the experience and the wine. They’ll do right by you!

Local pub hangout for the after work crowd — not a lot of tourists and therefore language could prove to be difficult depending upon your server. Prices were reasonable here for very basic dishes. Steak frittes and other sandwiches, etc were served and it was generally pretty good. The best part was probably just hanging out in a local atmosphere place and watching the Parisians in their natural habitat. Don’t expect anything fancy, this is a bar with bar food, although, it is Paris, so you’ll be able to get Tartare — and it is served in a huge portion… almost too much to eat before dinner.

Another café recommended in our tour guide, this one was not as great as the others we found in the book. In fact, pretty terrible. We came here for a late dinner, we were seated immediately however, a waitress failed to ever come to our table, we had to physically gets and ask for one twice! The service was really terrible, she was very flighty, clearly overwhelmed with the drinking crowd.
We hedged our bets and gave her our drink and food order in one shot, something simple and hopefully quick. Boeuf frites, medium please.
The food came out under seasoned and rare, we ate it anyway because it would take too long to find her and send the food back, no salt and pepper to take matters into our own hands either! We had to find her to get refills on our drinks. Truly the most disappointing meal we had in Paris. There was zero French culinary genius brimming through any if the plats that were placed in front of us that night.
The long wait did give us ample time to people watch and choke on cigarette smoke.
I am convince that the Parisians fulfill their appetites with cigarettes and cocktails/​coffee! I don’t know how that is sustainable but fascinating nonetheless.
The only good thing about this place is the location, it’s around the corner from the Louis Vuitton flagship store and one block from the Arc de Triomphe! You cold see the sun setting behind the beautiful structure from our window seat!
To summarize, the eateries in the area are slim pickings but this is one to definitely avoid!

Quand on nous dit «viens, on va se faire un resto super, il est sur les Champs Elysées» tu te dis… «Euuuuuuh tu m’as vu? T’as cru que mon père c’était Rothschild ?»
Mais en fait, figurez vous que ça né veut rien dire !
Vu que je suis à la bourre sur cet avis, je né me rappelle pas des prix, mais vraiment, c’était largement raisonnable, voire pas cher du tout par rapport à d’autres endroits.
C’est blindé, il faut le dire, la musique est forte, c’est assez bruyant, mais c’est très sympa, le service est super et rapide malgré le monde, on y est très bien (on était très bien placés) MAIS il faut réserver, sinon, impossible d’avoir une table.
Pour ce qui est de la qualité de la bouffe, rien à dire, c’est très bien, c’est bien servi, c’est bien… Bien quoi !
Ah oui, autre chose ! Le mojito y est très bon !

Came here because of a tip in Rick Steves’ Paris book. Great beef tartar and foie gras. They have friendly and fast service and were able to communicate well enough with my non-​French-​speaking parents.

We were there for lunch. This place was hopping! The waitstaff were exceptionally attentive and efficient. Good food. Good prices. I would go again.

Situé à 2 min des champs elysees, ce restaurant a tout pour plaire!
Cadre trés sympa, grande terasse, bon acceuil et surtout prix tres abordables!
Vient ensuite les plats servis. Loin d’être exceptionnels, il reste néanmoins corrects et très copiaux.
C’est aussi un excellent endroit pour un afterwork, les cocktails sont à 5 €!
Seul petit bémol. La queue… Mais cela, ce n’est que le résultat du succes…

If you like Tartare, this is a great place for dinner because a) the portions are genuinely twice as big as they need to be and b) it’s pretty much the only thing on the menu. Very tight and crowded, so only come if you’re looking to get off the tourist path and into the local scene. Not a bad place, especially if you’re looking for a drink.

Très bonne adresse dans un quartier super touristique et exorbitant (oui, je n’aime pas les champs…) à des tarifs super abordables (entre 10 et 14 euros les plats) et de plutôt bonne qualité.
Le service était plutôt sympa en prime, ce qui né gâche rien! une perle dans ce quartier

I never expected to find a nice reasonable priced restaurant so close to the Arc de Triomph, but this is it. Nice atmosphere with plats ranging from 10 – 15 euros. Just make sure to reserve, since I’m not the only one who has discovered this great place ;)

Fantastic value restaurant in the centre of Paris. I was taken there a few weeks ago by a colleague who works close by and apparently they have been trying to go for lunch for about 2 years but they can never get a table, even going at midday.
I went for dinner and with assistance from my colleague was able to order from the very extensive menu, which takes the form of big signs on the wall.
The service was good (once we realised we didn’t have to wait for a menu) and the food exceptional value for money. I had a gorgeous steak for 15 Euros, an unbelievable price for the centre of Paris.
The menu consists of French cuisine so may be a little bland for some tastes, but for me it was perfect.
I say it’s hard to eat badly when in Paris, but there are some tourist traps. This definitely isn’t one of them, the fact it is packed with Parisians says it all. I will definitely be back.
