Hippopotamus Notre-Dame

For being the first Parisien resturant i’ve been to, I would say it was pretty good. The pork was a little bit tough but the sauce on top made up for it. Aussi des pommes de terre étaient trés bons. They were unreal and I am always craving them ever since. À Bientit mes amis!

The waitress didn’t speak English although she knew English. I ordered a steak for one person. However, she gave me a 1kg steak. Although I finished that steak by sharing with families, but it’s unhappy experience. If they can listen to what customer wants, the dining experience will be better.

This is like a Paris equivalent of our american Applebees. It is not amazing, and it is just ordinary. We came here because we had a 15% coupon from our big bus tour booklet.
I ordered a steak, and my husband had a burger. The burger was overpriced but it was good. My steak was not seasoned and was bland, I had to add my own pepper and salt. The only sauce they gave me was ketchup and maybe a bbq sauce. Would I recommend this place? Probably not. Would I return? No.
The hippo logo is cute though. Too bad it was a bit disappointing.

1ère expérience très positive chez hippopotamus.
Accueil excellent personnel serviable, responsable d’établissement compris.
Ils m’ont notamment bien volontiers aidé en imprimant des billets d’entrée que j’avais omis d’imprimer.
Qualité de la viande, bien supérieure a ce que l’on trouve chez Buffalo .

I grew up abroad and for many many years as a kid, when my parents, my brothers and i were coming back to france for vacation this was the place we were going to eat because at the time that was one of the best steakhouse in Paris (but im talking about 20 years ago, damn 20 years already!).
At the time, the steaks were really good and tender (always going for «entrecôte a point» means medium) served with fries or vegetables, desserts of course chocolate cake or chocolate ice cream (chocolat liegeois), and when i was a kid the fun part was leaving the restaurant with one of their balloon and my pocket full of candies! :)
To date, im still going there with my family when we all meet up in paris because it s a tradition but unfortunately the food became very mediocre, a big disappointment, but as i said it s a tradition so no matter how good or bad the food is it s a nice place to be with the ones you love the most.
I still love their desserts though and im still leaving the place with my pocket full of candies :)
The service is good, i would say Americanized so the waiters are taking care of their tables.
Good experience, little pricy for what you have.
But definitely going back very soon!

C’est un hippopotamus certes, ils né sont pas tous bons, mais celui-​là est tout à fait correct. Un bon cuisinier; rien à redire.

Hippo, c’est certes pas le lieu idéal pour un premier RDV romantique mais franchement on est sur de ce que l’on va y trouver. La qualité est constante, les serveurs en général avenants et la nourriture bonne. Je recommande !
