I’ve read my fair share of glowing reviews for this place but I went and was really not impressed. I really really wish the food had a tad of Japanese influence in it but on the particular night that I went I did not see any. Of course this is the chef’s choice and I should not hold it against him. However, some of the dishes I ate were not cooked well. I cannot get over how terrible the main of game/deer was — overcooked, salty, gamey and overall uninspiring. The chef should also realize that shaving truffles everywhere does not hide mediocre food. I think this place focuses too much on the décor and service. It’s nice that the chef came out to say hello to everyone.

Simply delicious. The food was amazing and the service competent and friendly. French cuisine with a twist, small servings but frankly surprising and tasteful combinations of ingredients. The fish was cooked to perfection. Pricey but worth it for special occasions.

The best meal I have ever had, bar none and the first Michelin star awarded to a Japanese Chef/Owner is quite obviously well deserved. And while each meal is a unique selection from a variety of chef specialties made for the handful of tables that eat dinner at Hiramatsu each night — I can honestly say I will never forget the pumpkin soup with truffle ice cream, the fish or the first time I ate sweetbreads. Without a doubt — this is a world class restaurant. Just make sure you book way in advance and follow their rather exact instructions to confirm and then reconfirm your reservation. An unforgettable dining experience, everything from service to wine, food and exclusivity — this is on a level I have yet to experience before or after.

Everything about Hiramatsu is excellent. We had the pleasure of dining here during a recent trip to Paris. The courses and service were both first rate. We chose the nine course meal and had a great time anticipating what culinary adventure we’d be experiencing next. My favorite was the pigeon. It’s not something I think I would have ever tried and it was fantastic. If we ever make it back to Paris we’ll definitely be going back!

Expect excellent service, superb quality of food and beautiful presentation. Unassuming on the outside, it has a not very romantic, simple, clean and not over-the top ambiance with a flower in an interesting vase decorating each table. My BF and I had a lunch reservation, 48 euros for three courses. We got different dishes so we were able to taste each other’s dishes. Complimentary fresh bread: nothing special. Complimentary cheese balls: very good, warm, not too cheesy or buttery. Frozen salad: It’s like a salad icee served on a plate with a spoon of cream parmesan and a small wedge of a green tomato, accented with clover-like leaves. It’s interesting. I’m not sure how I feel about it. I know I don’t love it but it’s so different that I have to like it. 1st course, Sweetbread: I’m not talking about sweetened bread. Sweetbread is the culinary name for organ meats like the throat, neck, heart, stomach… etc. It is usually prepared breaded and fried. I do not love sweetbread because I am not a huge fan of organ meats but if it is cooked well, it can be great. Hiramatsu served this dish fried with hash browns, a spring salad mix, fatty bits of pork, artichoke hearts and vegetable chips(roma tomatoes and yams). It is a very well prepared and presented plate. I actually liked this dish. 1st course, White asparagus with crab mousse: When walking in and around the markets of Paris, I noticed the gigantic white asparagus thinking, I would like to try some of that. My wish came true! It is a fatter, denser, less crisp version of the green asparagus, not to say its not crisp. Hiramatsu presented it simply with edible flowers and a splash of a semi-tart sort of sauce. The only thing I wish I had more of is the crab mousse. I love anything crab :) Main course, Red mullet(fish) in a butter cream sauce: Ok, I might be a little bias with this one because I love fish. But I can say, there’s not much to fish. Just make sure it’s fresh and not overcooked. This dish was served with potatoes and wild asparagus(first time having this vege and I fell in love). Main course, Rack of veal: IMO, veal(baby cow) tastes lighter, more delicate, milder than beef. It is also more tender in texture. This dish was served with some butter lettuce, organic carrot and a garlic mousseline. I would say it’s good but not great. Dessert, Salted caramel ice cream, caramel emulsion with mango slices and passion fruit gelee. Done. Self explanatory… Dessert, Fresh strawberries and rhubard: Until my BF showed me one in the open markets of Paris, I had no idea what rhubard was, it’s a leafy vegetable with long skinny stalks. The taste is hard to describe, it’s somewhat tangy but with a very distinctive, cinnamon-ny earthy element to it. It’s dewy and soft in texture. It takes some getting used too. Yeah, like the frozen salad I mentioned above, this one is too special. It is an acquired taste, to say the least. We ended with some chocolate truffles but we were stuffed so boxed them up and ate them at the park later on. This place is worth the money. Your eyes and stomach will be pleased.

PARIS! Visiting Paris, I wanted to make sure that I would dine at the best rated Parisian cuisines, going through a lot of homework and research, Hiramatsu ended on top of my list, I called in to make a reservation same night, and they were able to accommodate us for a table of two. On the exterior, it looked below average and we thought… uhhhh… I hope that it gets better as we step inside! and it sure did! Fantastic customer service that treats you like Royalty. Just by looking at me and greeting me they recognized my reservation and started speaking in English! Dress code and attire is probably Casual, some customers were wearing T-shirts, but mostly jackets. Ambience is very relaxing, romantic, and classy with elegance. Each table has it’s own personality with it’s unique flowers and vase. They serve great wines and drinks, and the menu is(Menu blanche) the white menu, means that you do not have to worry about what you need to order. The chef will make his own selections of food to be served based on his inspirations that day, it is not just food, it is art. The dining experience is just phenomenal! Dinner was served in 11 different servings, 4 appetizers, 4 entrees, and 3 deserts on the course of 2 hours and a half. The best French bread is served every time a new dish is served. I was praying that I would get to try the duck liver and frog legs at this restaurant, and God has answered my prayers and the Chef’s inspiration that night was to make both so exquisitely, I just could not be happier. It was my wife’s birthday that night, and the Chef prepared a special desert with(Joyeaux anniversaire). He humbly visited each table and was complimented by all tables. Lastly, the bill is not like what you would pay at a regular restaurant, so far in life this was my highest bill for a dinner for two, I am just an average American tourist, but this was worth every euro spent, because my wife and I will remember this dinner forever. We loved this place, and would love to visit again. You are lucky and blessed if you will have the chance to dine at Hiramatsu, enjoy!

I’ve bookmarked this restaurant months in advance of my Paris trip and made sure to make reservations months in advance. Due to our short trip to Paris we had to opt for a quick lunch at Hiramatsu. My whole family enjoyed our dining experience. From the beautiful artistic flowers, the great service, and the delicious food, I can’t wait to go back for dinner to indulge again. My favorite part of my meal was the perfectly searered to perfection foie gras. This was a huge piece of foie gras served over a bed of risotto. They deserve their Michelin star and more.

We made reservations on the very same day easily. When we arrived, the restaurant was half-empty. Foodies are missing out. This place is amazing! The cuisine is amazing and the service is impeccable! We were treated like royalty. The staff spoke perfect English and were very down-to-earth. They laminated the wine bottle labels for us ladies to keep as souvenirs without us even asking. This was definitely one of my favorite places. I believe they deserve at least a 2 Michelin Star rating. The décor is very elegant and I would recommend the gentlemen wear a coat or dinner jacket.

Went here while in Paris. Must say one of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to. Defiantly deserved it’s Michelin star. The service was actually incredible. The waiter took us in the back to see the kitchen at the end of the night and even laminated our wine labels as souvenir, very nice. The dinner was a preset dinner. The 1st course was mix of cheese puff, small mackerel and cracker with sun dried tomato. My description really doesn’t do it just all tasted really good. Next was a pumpkin soup with a white truffle ice cream on top, this was awesome. Next was a lobster and potato purée that was over a dry ice that was steaming from an underlying grid that gave it flavor from the green herbs in the dried ice. Then there was a play on mushrooms that was really tasty, they were both cooked and raw done completely differently. This was really tasty. Next was a foe gra that was covered in very tender beef all wrapped in very green cabbage. I’m not a foe gra fan but this was actually very good. Next was the John Dory fish that was awesome. The garnish that accompanied it was great, leaks and small baby potato stuffed with delicious herb ed veggie(don’t remember what it was). The final course was a chicken dish that was delicious. It had a gravy cream on top that I was going to lick off the plate. The mushroom and Chinese broccoli was also really good. The dessert was one of the best I’ve ever had. The pear was awesome and the ice cream they made was to die for. There was a mini crème bruelle on the same plate that was delicious as well. There was another dessert that was very good as well but I just can’t recall all the details. On top of all this the service was excellent and the somoellier chose some wine that was really good given a limit of about $ 150/bottle. Overall an unbelievable dining experience.

J’y retournerai certainement !

I have waited for Unilocal to expand its borders to France just so I could write about this restaurant. I have eaten at La Tour d’Argent; I have eaten at the Taillevent; I would have eaten at the Crillon, except I missed the reservation; I have eaten at the Hiramatsu in Tokyo. And many, many more avenues of fine dining. Having said this, it is quite possible that the Hiramatsu in Paris is my favorite restaurant on Earth.

Made reservations online for first seating at 7:30 pm. Took the metro to the 16th arrondisement. Restaurant conveniently located 5 minutes away from the Trocadero stop on line #6. Superbly elegant and refined in décor. Very heavily staffed with well coiffed, neatly suited servers, all with a Y chromosome. The service is formal and a little imposing; but I think the latter was more a reflection of our server’s personal style. A small dish of caramelized pistachios and cheese puffs arrived with the menu. Opted for the advanced tasting menu«gastronomique». Hiramatsu has been repeatedly described as «inventive» on online reviews – a buzz word for«taste sacrificed»? Not the case her! Each course was thoughtfully conceived and perfectly executed. Started with a duck liver mousse(sort of an egg custard) with mushroom soup on top. Then came a leek mouse with gelee – elegant and refreshing. The ravioli stuffed with foie gras was pure genius. The fourth course consisted of two succulent scallops paired with a tomato and orange mousse that could have made an old shoe taste good. The main course was perfectly cooked partridge – yes, «as in two partridges in a pear tree». The palate cleansing«pre-desert» was a white cheese sorbet. Our first desert was a banana mousse served in cinnamon sugar sculpture with caramel ice cream. And our second desert, which we ordered in lieu of the standard cheese course, was a chocolate cake(heavy on chocolate and light on cake) with homemade vanilla ice cream(the server was reluctant to accept the exchange initially but he eventually relented). The food here is possibly the most imaginative and exquisite that I’ve ever had, with absoluately no compromises on taste. Unfortunately, the restaurant was half empty on this particular Tuesday evening – I think many foodies are missing out.

Holy wow!!! This place is a jewel. Japanese chef doing purely French food. We had the tasting menu. The larger of the two tasting menus. Started with a pumpkin soup with truffle ice cream. Next was a salmon fume with these champagne beads– can’t really explain that one. The key to all this food is to get a bite of everything on the plate all together. Next was fois gras wrapped in the most delicate, well cooked cabbage leaf– one of the best fois gras I have ever had. Next was a perfectly cooked piece of red snapper in a potage and the tastiest vegetables ever! Followed by absolutely beautiful duck breast-again perfectly cooked. Dessert came in 3 parts, one better than the next. Oh, forgot the wonderful cheese course. Simply elegant, exciting food in a bright intimate atmosphere. Staff was extremely professional and helpful. Wine pairing was spot on. Very pricey, VERY worth it!

Bref on s’amuse beaucoup.
