Located near the Trocadero circle, Le Poincare is a conveniently-located French bistro for those who are admiring the Eiffel Tower from the Seine’s west side. However, perhaps it is because of its tourist-centric location that makes this a rather pricey dining place. My choices were the French onion soup as my starter and the veal as my entrée. The French onion soup was as good as many acclaimed: the creaminess of the soup with a strong emphasis on the sweetness from the onion without its stinging sensation that it is often associated with. After this excellent soup, I was looking forward to the entrée. Unfortunately, the veal fell short: the meat was dry and was bland even with the wasabi sauce. The overall price was a little over € 20 with the majority of the cost of the veal entrée. I didn’t think the entrée was worth it. Le Poincare is a decent bistro with a highly recommended French onion soup but Paris has better French bistros that may be even cheaper. If you want to try here, make a reservation at The Fork(Basically Europe’s OpenTable) for a 20% discount.

Great food and service! I had beef tartare with Roquefort and honey, and my husband had some cut of beef. They were both delicious! The best dinner we’ve had so far :-)

This was possibly the best salad niçoise I’ve ever had! Atop fresh greens were chunks of tuna marinated in oil, bright red roasted peppers and fresh anchovies arranged in a flower pattern, with dots of shiny black olives. Absolutely refreshing and delicious, paired with white wine, of course. Dining partner had the French Hamburger with frites. Yawn… he said it was good.

Was in search for«French» onion soup, but they only had a creamy onion soup on the menu. While it did not satisfy the craving, the soup was delicious! Creamy, full of sweet onion flavor, cheesy on top, and the croutons were perfect. Also ordered the duck breast and it came out in the perfect medium temperature. The roasted peach on top was the perfect pairing, along with the sautéed vegetables.

We enjoyed the food and the service was great. After reading the reviews we expected bad service, but our waiter was taking really good care of us. :-)

2 — 2.5 stars. My bf and I came here our first night in Paris. The food was good but service was terrible. Everything took forever. Getting our food, paying, and don’t even think of getting service during the meal. I wanted to ask for a napkin but the opportunity never came. The waitress asked my bf if he wanted mayonnaise or ketchup with his food. He said yes(ketchup) and it never came. So there was really no point in asking. I hope the next place has better service. *fingers crossed

Awesomeness: pumpkin crumble, vegetarian lasagna and chocolate-speculoos tiramisu. I’m so, so psyched to have found such a gem in that no-so-lively neighborhood! Tip: Make a reservation with TheFork(LaFourchette) to get a 30% discount, it is a bit expensive otherwise(appetizers and desserts ~€ 9, mains € 15 – 25)

Great neighborhood café! My wife and I stayed at the hotel just down the street(Longchamp Élysées Hotel) and we came to this café on the first day… then again on the first day… then returned on the second day… and then on the third day… the food is amazing… service is great… don’t pass this one up!

If you’re in the Trocadero area(after viewing the Eiffel Tower) and looking for a place to eat, this could be the restaurant for you! We randomly found this restaurant as we walked along the streets at night, and decided to venture inside since there were quite a number of patrons out front. We got seated immediately(indoors) and proceed to order: (btw, this was our first official meal in Paris!) 1) French onion soup — yes, it was good. my husband likes this type of soup, so he devoured it quickly 2) Piglet 3 ways — my husband ordered this for his entrée. I can’t remember how it tastes because I was so involved with my own meal 3) Mussels — yes, this was delightfully tasty! :) I can’t believe the portion size of this entrée, a huge stack of mussels came out(with a side of fries). I gobbled up the whole thing, yum :) the sauce they used was kinda salty and I can’t remember what the name of the sauce was, but the color is yellow. Free wifi! Free Tap water available! Waiters are friendly and can speak English. :)

The crème onion soup is a must try, it’s different from just the regular onion soup, not so much onion flavor and it’s creamy. I ordered fish with basmati rice and curry, it’s different from what I expected, the rice already dry, very little curry but a big slice of fish. Fish is delicious but the rice and curry is not so much. We also ordered sirloin steak the taste is good but nothing amazing, the fries is also good not too soft nor crunchy. Overall service is a little slow but maybe because it’s packed. The waiters are nice and look busy all the time.

An excellent brasserie up the street from Place Trocadero and the Eiffel Tower. We ate here for dinner on our first night in Paris, and we wish we had just come back here for all of our other meals, as no other brasserie in Paris was as good as Le Poincare. I had their beef tartare, which had bits of cheese and apple embedded in the meat, which was a nice touch. All the other beef tartares I’ve had in Paris were just basically solid blocks of uncooked hamburger. My travel companion had their braised veal, which looked amazing as well. Our waitress spoke English pretty well, and they also have free wifi for customers.

Not impressed, at all. We arrived and we seated quickly. The restaurant is small and you have to squeeze by other people to get to your table.
Our waiter came to our table, we asked if he spoke english, he stated not well. I asked him about one of the items on the menu. He wasn’t able to tell me what it was. After we placed our order, he began speaking in perfect english, including using slang. We ordered a bottle of water, which we finished and never offered more. All the other tables got free water, we did not. The menu has few items. We were starving! We both ordered the cheeseburger, I was unimpressed. The burgers had zero flavor. The fries were over cooked and soggy. Overall, the service was terrible, food was not good and it was very overpriced for what it is.

Pretty good. We went to this bistro for food the first day we came. The French«andouiette» sausage and mashed potatoes are awesome. Also try a blond beer with any fruit syrup. I know it sounds weird but its very good. The veal on the other hand was not that great at all. I wouldn’t reccomend it.

My husband and I had a great time at this restaurant last week. We talked with the two new owners(took the place over last month). Great food, good vibe! We were looking for a casual, neighborhood, not too many tourists restaurant and this completely fit the bill. I had the lamb — and it was AMAZING– he had the seabass and loved it as much as I did the lamb. The apps we had were also great. All around a wonderful night! They owners went out of their way to make us comfortable and to ensure we had a great time! Highly recommend!

meh… another average Paris bistro. Located near the Trocadero, Le Poincare didn’t do much for me. I stopped by for a beer and a burger(so American I know) the other night and walked away indifferent. The burger was basic, lacked the explosive tastes that makes a good burger good. It did have some mustard flavor in it, which is a little bit of a change. Besides that, the fries were fries and the beer was beer, nothing to brag about. I liked the outside seating and the openess of the place. Makes it easy to grab a seat. The server was ok, a little crazy, but nothing too bad or great. Basically, just a very average bistro. One and done here for me, too many other places around the area to still try.
