Hôtel Charing Cross

I was going to give this place 3-​stars, until I remembered the insanely high price, which is totally uncorrelated with the following factors:
— The room is very tiny, compared to other nearby hotels
— The shower does not function properly
— Breakfast, although it has the essentials, is of low quality, and the service is non-​existent.
Once more, all this would have been perfectly fine, for this hotel is perfectly situated near a little park, and major attractions. However, the price made this «over-​the-​top» for me.

I’ve only been to Paris a total of 3 times so far, but Hôtel Charing Cross has become my regular hotel there. It’s close to everything – food, shopping, sites, and transportation. Make a right turn at the end of the block onto rue St Lazare and you have a street lined with restaurants, brasseries, and pastry shops. For a quick snack or if you want a picnic, there’s a Monop right around the corner on Rue de la Pépinière. The Saint-​Lazare station is right down the block, just steps away. There’s a movie theater across the street. Everyone at the front desk is very friendly and helpful. They have a shuttle to the airport.
Don’t expect 5-​star accommodations with a pool, fitness center, and room service. But the service is great, the rooms are clean, and they offer free wi-​fi. If you’re a budget traveler, like myself, and you’re there to enjoy everything Paris has to offer outside of four walls, I highly recommend Hôtel Charing Cross.

Chambre de bonne 3 étoiles défraichie
Pour commencer, je précise qu’il est très rare que je donne de mauvais avis. J’ai plutôt tendance à partager mes bonnes expériences. Mais là, trop c’est trop… 100 Euros pour une chambre minuscule au 6eme étage, sous les toits (chambre 109), avec une peinture défraichie, une ventilation dans la salle de bain qui fait un bruit d’enfer (ce qui permet de couvrir le bruit de la machinerie d’ascenceur juste à côté). Un néon en guise de lumière… Une fenêtre avec vis à vis à moins de deux mètres. Franchement, on me le raconterait, je n’y croirais pas… Alors je né sais pas si j’ai tiré la mauvaise chambre (en réservant sur
…) ou si tout l’hotel est comme ça. Seul intérêt de l’hôtel, il est très bien placé effectivement, face à la Gare St Lazare, à deux pas des grands magasins. En tous cas, sauve qui peut !

Bientôt la 3ème étoile
L’accueil est chaleureux. La chambre (single) était quand même de taille honnête. Seul bémol: il manqué le cable. Pas très loin de la Gare St Lazare et de la station RER Auber il est très bien situé: les Gds magasins sont à deux pas.
