I booked this hotel solely on the weight of Bryant and Keith’s reviews. Their website isn’t much to look at, and I probably wouldn’t have found it otherwise! We fell off the night train from Munich and checked in around 0930. The room wasn’t ready yet, but the staff was happy to watch our bags(the front door of the hotel is kept locked whenever the front desk is unmanned). The staff all spoke excellent English and gave advice about umbrellas and guarding against pickpockets. Our room was the triple room on the top floor(thank goodness for the lift, though it was quite a trick to get all three of us and our packs into it). The room was more of a suite with a large double bedroom, two single beds and a desk area, and a bathroom with a full tub and shower. Both bedrooms had roof skylight windows, which made them seem like a cozy little attic apartment(not the lame kind of cheap attic apartment that you get around American universities). There were two log-ins for the wi-fi, which caused no small drama with the three of us and our multiple devices. There is breakfast available for a charge(we of course went the cheap route and bought groceries instead). The hotel is very convenient to the train stations, though it is a bit of a hike from sights like the Louvre and the Eiffel Tower. Beware that the maps they give out can be a bit deceptive! Each square on the map is almost ¾ of a mile! We looked at the maps and thought, «Oh, the Eiffel Tower’s not that far away!» It’s almost four miles if you go directly(we took the loooooooooooong way around).

We stayed at Hotel du Nord during our 2.5 day visit in Paris. We actually had to stay in two different rooms due to a booking error, but we were very accomidating and it really wasn’t a big deal to switch. Our first room was on the 5th floor over looking the street with a large king size bed. The room was spacious, as was the bathroom. The room had large windows that were great for cooling down the room on a spring day. The TV had several english channels, so there was a bit of entertainment for when we were in the room. Our second room had two single beds, was on the third floor, and faced the back of the building. Again the room was very spacious and even had a small sofa to relax on(or hold my luggage). This room had a tub, so I immediately knew I would be taking advantage of hot bath after walking the streets of Paris. The staff was very friendly, as was the housekeeping staff. No one attempted to really bother us even though we slept in late each morning. The hotel was very kind to watch our luggage for a half day before our flight out of the city. I honestly can’t think of a reason why I wouldn’t stay here again when I come back to Paris!

Oh, I loved this crazy little hotel. While planning our recent excursion to Europe, I found hotel du Nord on Unilocal and then cross-referenced it with Trip Advisor and Google. Everything looked great, so I took a chance and booked it. I’m not really into touristy spots, and I’m not looking for glamor or grandness in a hotel, so HDN was perfect. It’s a quaint little bed-and-breakfast-ish place that’s posited down a little side street near La Marais. The guys who run this place are very laid-back and helpful. And they all speak fantastic English. They were super-helpful with checking in and checking out — even holding our bags for us before our flight out. The rooms(yes, rooms — more on that later) were a good size — especially for Paris. They definitely weren’t elegant, decorated more like your aunt’s guest bedroom. Everything was very clean, the shower was great, and the beds were comfy. Oh, and there’s free wifi! We went in early May, so we were extremely comfortable with just the windows open, but the lack of A/C might be a problem if you go in the heat of summer. In the end, I really enjoyed my stay here, and I would totally choose Hotel du Nord again on my next trip to Paris! Tip: Don’t get mixed-up when doing your research — it’s easy to confuse the hotel with a restaurant of the same name. You’ll want to email them to ask for a reservation, and I would recommend confirmation the details of your trip right before you arrive. They got ours confused and thought we were only staying one night. That’s why we had to stay in two different rooms during our visit.

I visited France in late September and my first stop was Paris. Hotel du Nord was one of the best hotels in which I stayed. It was charming, intimate, and unique. It has a somewhat bed & breakfast coziness found in a local part of town which was perfect; it was not packed with lots of tourist. The free use of bikes were great; it gave an athletic and slightly more adventurous way to get around the city. The two gentlemen running the charming place were helpful and very nice. They even had an in house dog that was very cute and mellow. When I go back to Paris there is no question as to where I will stay, Hotel du Nord.
