From a wonderfully attentive, knowledgeable, and courteous front office staff to a back of the house staff that keep our room in ship shape, we couldn’t have asked for a better Paris hotel experience. My wife and I travel to Paris every year and in year’s past have rented apartments. We were so glad we gave the Saint-Paul a try. The service experience coupled with the charm and central location of the hotel made for a delightful week’s long stay in Paris. Though the typical U.S. traveler will find the rooms small by comparison, the charming lobby bar and courtyard will give you room to roam(and sip a wine or coffee). This hotel was a real find. We enthusiastically recommend it.

We loved this charming little hotel in Le Marais. It was a good price for the area and though not on the scale of modernity I am used to in the US, it was reasonably updated for Paris. The building is clearly centuries old and the rooms carved out of unusual shaped spaces. Our first floor room had the old carved beams in the ceiling, our friends had an «attic» style room on the fourth. The bathrooms worked fine and looked to have been tiled in the 90’s, with vessel sink and vanity updates in the last few years. We had plenty of hot water. Both rooms had classic wallpaper, ours very dark with gilt, the other very pink. Our room was rather small but was fine for our needs, out late, up early, we only had the weekend to see Paris. The petite dejeuner was adequate but nothing special, but served in the cutest little stone walled rooms, perhaps a former wine cellar or coal storage basement. We ate there twice for the convenience, but on Sunday had our brunch a short walk away. The front desk staffers were so friendly, spoke English well but were patient and courteous as we tried not to resort to it. The women serving the breakfast were quick to bring us pots of tea or coffee, though everything else was laid out on a counter. There was always a table available whenever anyone came in. The restrooms on this lower level were adorable, the women’s scented with the classic Shalimar, as there is a Guerlain shop in the neighborhood. The only unfortunate thing we encountered was that though they advertise the rooms as air conditioned, the units are rather old and not very effective. The staff was unable to adjust them cooler. It was a warm, but not hot weekend in Paris, so opening the big windows at night cooled the rooms right down. I could not have stayed in the room during the warm day, but then, who would want to? There is a Metro stop nearby, many nice cafes and all the attractions of Le Marais. The street is a little noisy at night with all the cafes quite popular with what appeared to be locals and tourists alike. The street washers are a little noisy in the early morning, but this is the heart of a great city, so it was expected. I didn’t come to Paris to sleep all that much.

This is a great GREAT hotel in the Marais for a great GREAT price, well in Paris anyway. The Marais is a great place to stay, and a unique area of Paris to explore on foot. My brother, then current fiancé, best friend, and I had an unfortunate incident with an apartment that we rented also in the Marais. There was a literal locust infestation and no air conditioning in August. Before you tell me that August is not the best time to be in Paris, especially with no air conditioning, let me assure you, I know. Incidentally, no one else knew that, so all the hotels were booked and/or extremely expensive. We stumbled upon the Hotel Saint-Paul in the Marais. This hotel is great for the budget conscious traveler who still wants a nice and very clean room. They accommodated all of us in very nice rooms. The beds and rooms are small, but you are in Paris, who cares? They also have a cool room that has a loft, that would work if you would like to share you room with children. They have a small bar that has a very limited drink selection, and no meal service to speak, with the exception of a very hearty breakfast. This is totally ok because soon we will come to the best part of this hotel … THELOCATION! It is right of a major drag through Paris where you can stock up on food and beverages. It is right in the heart of the Marais, which is totally chic! You can spend your whole vacation there. The have great food, nightlife, stunning art galleries and great boutique shopping. If you wonder why it’s insanely crowded on Sunday it is because it is the only thing open. We had a great time at this hotel. Here as some tips for the traveler: if you have extreme OCD, the décor may frighten you. The mirrors are all hung on a bias, which gave me the heebie jeebies. Much of the staff does not speak English, but I am sure you are savvy enough to get by. There lobby functions as a mini-art gallery with very«now» artists.

A essayer…
