There’s two things that really distinguish Khao Thai. The first is that as a dining experience, it’s just nice. Little touches like an elephant shaped teapot and clean design and good background music, as well as a very attentive staff. The second is that it’s got simply some of the best, underpriced Thai food in Paris. Anytime you have a meal in the Marais you expect to pay a bit more because of where you are — but I got an app, a main, and coffee for 14 € on a Saturday afternoon. The dishes were presented beautifully, had simple and well-developed flavors, and came out with precision timing. I’ve had the privilege of eating great Thai food all over the world, including in Thailand itself, and this showed very well. It’s fair to say that Donald O. has close to no idea what he is speaking about whatsoever. But what do you expect from American tourists?

While the food was adequate for French Thai standards(vs say the intense NYC/Queens standard), I was a bit turned off by the server asking me if I wanted«water with gas or no gas». I had just landed hours before and I must have been jetlagged still and didn’t really pick up on what they were trying to do. I responded«no gas». The correct answer should have been«tap water please». On my bill appeared a 6.50 Euro charge for a large bottle of Evian. Be careful when they ask you for water.

Excellent ! Le service est aux petits soins, la cuisine est délicate, finement relevée… Les prix assez élevés sont justifiés par l’emplacement du restaurant.
